a sponge aborbs water pretty well.. imagine all the bacteria and shit it can also absorb... Sure, wash the dishes then go wash the countertops then wash the dishes again, thats not gross at all.

@JordanMaster22 Yes, our cooking class teacher in high school told us NEVER to use a sponge to clean dishes. One kid did and she made him redo them. But, you can sterilize it.
