My standard response is to try to find someone to let you shoot one, then pick the one you shoot the best.
I own both the CZ and the Glock (a 26 and a 19) and both of them are fine handguns.
The CZ is more comfortable to shoot, but needs to be cleaned more often (I don't clean my glocks much, so YMMV), and it will rust if left exposed to the damp for very long. This is not a problem for most people. I don't know anything about the Armscor.
@Antistotle The Armscor is an amazing 1911 for the price. $419 average price these days (used to be in the low-mid $300s) and it's pretty freakin' good quality for that much green. Of course, it's nothing like a good Springfield Armory target model; the fitting on the latter is super tight unlike the Rock Island 1911 GI i have, which rattles a bit if you shake it hard even when locked and loaded. I have yet to try Armscor's Rock Island Tactical 1911. I hear the fitting on that is great.
I know your not shooting the Glock any more but i wonder, back then why did you choose the 17 over the 19? I am about to make a decision here and to me the 19 looks more appealing.
@MrPainfulTruth To translate Doud's answer: the G17 has a larger magazine capacity (17/18 cartidges for the G17 vs 15/16 for the G19) and at that time we were not limited to 15 shots in Production.
It's great to see female competitive shooters getting more exposure; females who are interested in shooting definitely feel more comfortable being in a training class with at least one other gal, as opposed to all men. And getting the other half of our population involved in this fun sport, and important skill, is always good.
maybe you mean "std-limited" for single stack, i use a g22 for standard and production level, glocks are safe action mode so the trigger slack and travel are really longer than 1911. its just the way it is.
No, nothing is done to the trigger. In the production division no modifications or other parts than the original manufacturer are allowed. The purpose is simply to have a "pure", out of the box, service handgun division. You are allowed to change sights as long as the new sights does not require milling or modifications to the slide.
There are a limited number of guns actually allowed in production division, the list can be found at IPSC.org
@Ecthelion008 Also a translation: "Laetitia has been the French Champion twice with her stock Glock 17. Now she shoots with a CZSP01 Shadow, it's better the trigger is softer, the weapon is faster, less recoil, and more accurate."
@Ecthelion008 She might be shooting production, not to mention double stack 1911s are uncommon outside of North America. Some people also just like Glocks.
@Ecthelion008 not really as there is a production division for 9mm in the IPSC, the thing is that you are not allowed to change anything to your gun (color, trigger pull, sight, + 2 rds in your mags and other after market parts design to enhance your gun)
@Ecthelion008 Depends what division of IPSC you shoot. Open division is domiated by 1911s but production division means just that. - stock production pistols only (no 1911s) so glock, CZ, beretta, tend to dominate
@Ecthelion008 9mm and .40S&W has become very popular as ammo prices have gone up; so people have started to pick up guns other than the 1911. Also some people just prefer the Glock grip, some can't stand it. All a matter of what fits your hand and you shoot best, the clock doesn't care.
by planning your course of action and by counting your targets with every bullets you have in your mags,,, before you empty all your ammo you should be able to hit all targets at a minimum time period. Its actually your choice on which target you shoot 1st as long as your time is greater and hitting is good. A 32 rd course at best would be around 18-23 or > for the stock 1911 or lesser for the open div. this is IPSC/USPA ruling - 4 IDPA (police mil) its 1st target sight 1st shoot
Great shooting. Do you still have the 1000 round annual limit on ammo purchases? How about carrying your gun outside of competition for purposes of self defense?
Lovely shooter, but I wish whoever made this video would knock it off with the f-ing slow motion and video effects! It makes it impossible to see how this beautiful gal actually shoots!
who says girls cant shoot?! they must see this video! its not that girls cant shoot, sometimes they just dun have the interest in shooting thats all, if they put their heart into it, they can do it well (: Keep up the good work gal!
Wow, it`s really awesome how smooth she operates a Glock without any modifications. I can barely get a straight shot out of mine without the light trigger tuning and recoil dampener. ;-)
This is my favorite video of Laetita. Shooting the Glock 17. She is very smooth & has really a motion efficient technique. She's awsome! Keep up the good work Laetitia & congratulations on your recent win!
She's pretty beautiful! I've never shot IPSC but I plan on getting into it soon. I actually just acquired my firearms license here in Canada and oredered a Glock 17 last week. Should have it soon! Absolutely stoked. I went with a 9mm because it is my first gun and the ammo is cheaper. I haven't shot many guns and I've only tried 9mm a few times.. I have never tried .40S&W or .45 but plan on it in the future and definitely wouldn't mind getting a SIG or USP in .45
You never hear of a police shooting where the perp took 15 rounds of .45 and survived. Happens with a nine all the time. Big bullets make big holes, hollowpoints open 40% of the time. I wouldn't bet my life on a hollowpoint.
I don't hear much about any police shootings with .45 anymore, as a matter of fact. But I did just see a police shooting in PA where an assailant, without the aid of any drugs, was hit with 5 rounds of 180r .40S&W in the torso, one in the arm, and one in throat and continued to fight until an AR-15 was brought into play. Even then he continued to struggle on the ground as officer cuffed him. He died shortly thereafter en route to the hospital.
So, if you honestly believe that the little sliver of difference in the actual diameter of 9mm and .45 is going to stop a fight, that's your opinion and you're entitled to it. Me? I'll be over here with a round that's been proven to let me put the same terminal effects on target faster and longer.
The radius of a 9mm is only about 1.2mm, or .048 inches, smaller than a .45 and at 147 grains it penetrates just as well while usually giving you about a 1/3rd increase in ammo capacity. I have yet to see any non-anecdotal evidence about .45 being a better wounder than 9mm that isn't based on some MAN'S CALIBER billshit spewed by Jeff Cooper, who also advocated replacing M4 carbines with full size, semiauto, 8 round cap M1s for QCB in the Iraq against opponents with compact SMGs and AKs. Yeah.
The 9mm doesn't have anywhere near the energy delivery that the 45 ACP does, which is central to stopping an enemy. Also, with 230 GRN FMJ's, the 45 will get better penetration. Anyways, Col. Cooper gave serious props to the SOCOM 16 when it first came out as a legit replacement for the m16; I totally agree.
9mm doesn't kick like a .40 or .45. I know, I shot competition w/all of them. Everyone I know is loads faster when shooting 9mm. Not as much muzzle flip nor perceived recoil. The chick is good, no doubt. 9mm is still chick caliber.
You're still a moron and don't have any fucking idea what you're talking about. Tell all the guys that CCW with a 9mm that it's for girls. If you don't know what CCW is then STFU.

You know you think she's fine. And she shoots alot better than alot of guys. I personally would like to compete with her........ya know........ *wink wink* in IPDA of course
not sure what the French response says, but no that's not the best grip, her left hand is low too, but maybe it's her hand size or something. She doesn't shoot bad. Check out JulieGoloski though....
Truely nice to see some other countries takeing part in serious shooting sports. And to have young people in it, even better. Keep up the good work and congradualations on your new president.

Using a Glock series in the IPSC... Is this common?
I was always told that the IPSC people prefer 1911s above all else for the trigger and grip.
Maybe because this is Europe...

But I get your rough meaning. You're saying that single stackers use 1911s
Well that doesn't really surprise me since there are very few single stack pistols to begin with.
But there are double stack 1911 pattern pistols.
I suppose that if this girl is using a Glock in competition, the trigger would be lightened and smoothed out (maybe 3.5 pounds or less?)

not sure what the French response says, but no that's not the best grip, her left hand is low too, but maybe it's her hand size or something. She doesn't shoot bad. Check out JulieGoloski though....

I'm familiar with J.Go. Was squadded with her and Sevigny a few years ago in an IDPA state match. They're both great shooters.

Truely nice to see some other countries takeing part in serious shooting sports. And to have young people in it, even better. Keep up the good work and congradualations on your new president.
