Woot this is the best stuff ive seen so far from the new tour..the same stage as the original vhs tape from 14 years ago , hope they release some hq dvd from the tour, patton rules....and what has his voice grown the past years... i know many people didnt like the way he sang through his nose back in the days, i myself still love to hear those tracks that way, kind of like the new versions the same,...
Seeing them Aug 28th, can't believe they reformed, gonna get leg braces so i can go for a mosh up front (its very hard to mosh these days as old age sets in)
Doesn't sound like Patton nasalises quite as extensively on this track as he used to back in the day when The Real Thing came out. Rocks hard nontheless =) T-minus 11 days for my seeing them live!
'nasalises'; finally there is a word more fitting than whiney vocals. I prefer that range of voice from the real thing and the cowboy song, and wonder if he still has the ability to nasalise his voice, but i fear he doesn't; which is perhaps why he does not perform edge of the world, underwater love, the morning after , nor the cowboy song because these songs require it in order to sound great especially since jim martin is no longer involved.
Yeah I'm not sure if it's a question of style preference or actual ability - I remember reading some interview where Patton describing the sensation of stretching his voice to and beyond the "breaking point" in some gigs. Then again maybe it's just a conscious decison to disassociate himself from the way he sung in the early FNM/Bungle era. Nonetheless, hearing something like Underwater Love live would indeed be sensational =)
I bet the crowd looked crazy from up there! It was mental enough down in the thick of it; but I'd like to see it in retrospective. My bruises don't say quite enough! haha
I flew over from Dublin for this, it was great.
