  • I'd really love to have an orange but they are expensive and hard to get on a third world country, could this be my salvation?

  • Is the clipping from the YouTube compression, or is it from the original recording?

  • @SweetSpotGuitar If there's any clipping it would be due to my fledgling engineering skills at the time, nothing else. I might have to revisit this one if I can find the pedal...

  • I like this pedal but when the treble is up past 2 o'clock it is killing my ears. Thanks for the demo.

  • I beg for a bass review with this pedal, burg! I already like my Leeds better than the VT with my Ric - I'd imagine this would sound wonderfully "dirty" on bass.

  • Hey there. Do you think any of the character Sansamps would be able to give fuzz / muff tones? I tried putting EHX Pi in front of a GT2 (tried all switch varations), but it would simply be too much... fuzz? compression? gain? - sound was awful anyway. I love Sansamp and I play it directly into audio interface, but wanted to try something fuzzy for a change. Have you got any experience with fuzz & tech21? Is Oxford able to give similar results? Sorry for a lengthy comment. Love your reviews btw!

  • @Pankratzy hi, I play with 2 tech 21 character plugin in my bass (MM sub) or my guitar (with humbucker PU) .

On the first path there is a maxon od 808 and a tech 21 california, on the second path there is a big muff pi and a tech 21 vt bass... I play mixing both channels or not each one being clean or dirty, with guitar or bass, and it sounds truly amazing... you have to notice that my OD 808 is in a boost position, and it's perfect, as for the result of the big muff in the vt bass. try it ;-)

  • Hi Burg,

I would use this pedal direct, mainly for live but I'm interested if the speaker cab emulation stays on when the pedal is turned off, like T.C.Elec VPD-1(even when off sp.cab.emul is on)

    Cheers,

  • @tteessaa777 Turning the pedal off disengages speaker emulation. Sorry :(

  • @95shredder ok, thanks

  • so what amp character is this Oxford emulating ? A Marshall?

  • @Fishpigg Its color might give you a clue. ;)

  • You tried this one with a bass guitar? Hummm

  • @loverickbass Nope. The bass only comes out under pressure. Can't play the damn thing!

  • How does this thing sound clean? Thanks for posting it!

  • Can i get a sabbath-like tony iommi sond with this and how? Thanks!!!!!

  • @claudiodifazio14 Probably, but I haven't tried so I can't comment. Someone else may have a better idea for the ultimate Iommi settings. Thanks!

  • What's that song in the beginning?

  • @JoeyHawk Sonic Youth – Orange Rolls, Angel's Spit

  • It's closer but not Orange-sounding. The ice-picky brightness isn't present on any of my Oranges- needs to be a little smoother. Still, it's a good sounding box!

  • I own a couple of Oranges and I'd say this pedal doesn't quite capture their unique voicing - it does sound great in its own right though!

Your videos are the best pedal demos on Youtube IMO, keep up the great work, Tech 21 should be paying you commission for this amount of great publicity. I bet they've sold a shed load based on your stellar demonstrations!

  • @chatnoirband i agree, these demos are the reason i bought one. We really appreciate the demos!

  • Superb demo as usual ! All these Tech 21 pedals sound amazing but i'm wondering how they sound in front of a tube amp? Most of the demos are recorded direct. Your demo of the blonde in front of your amp sounds good but do the others sound that way? Thanks for any info and keep these vids coming!!

  • @icarus5150 The new models - Oxford, Leeds and U.S. Steel - all have 'speaker emulation defeat' buttons to enable the units' use in front of an amp, as a standard stompbox. And they sound great!

    Thanks for watching. :)

  • do you still use your m-audio interface in this vid?

  • @ricebowlranch

whoops... i didn't notice the info at the bottom of the screen haha. rock on

  • So spongy!

  • great demo man, as usal !! but damn, i hope these companies give you money in return for all those demos.

  • fantastic

  • I like it. In the Steel demo you didn't mess with the Character knob as much, this time you went through a wider range. Well done!

  • Thanks Bugerman666!

    Will you make Leeds,longer version?

  • I know , it spunds a bit 'noobish' but can you play metal with this ?

I mean you can get the best metal sound out there with an Orange Rockerverb..

  • @belafarinrodisgod this was modeled after the 1974'ish Orange amps .as you know the newer ones have 4 stage's of gain to go through before finished results this is real close though with a fuzz like big muff or xxl warp it would be over the top

  • @MrBingo9er Muff seems to make everything better ;-)

  • That's one crunchy bunch of oranges! Thanks for taking the time to put this up, been waiting for this demo for much too long. Now just have to decide between the Leeds and this... oh choices. Thanks burgs!
