WOW! Thanks again!! Exactly what I was looking for. The manfrotto 577 is like 50$!! This looks great! I love your channel! You save me so much money!! (Which I don't have much of, since I'm 12)!!!
Are there any sort of audio-relay-type boxes that are available that have 3.5mm inputs and outputs just so i can keep all of my audio equipment plugged into the box, and then plug the camera into the box when I need to use it? Thank you!
@the13thwolfman The XLR box allows you to use professional grade microphones and audio cables with a standard 1/8" mic input found on consumer cameras. The XLR system offers great quality and noise cancellation. Google it for more info.
@mreedy02 I bought about 5 or 6 (can't remember exactly) and really like the quick-swapping ability that allows me to move my camera between rigs. No more screwing and unscrewing. I think my XLR box moves around the most, going between my camera and my Zoom H1, back to PVC stabilizer, etc.
Maybe I do not get it but why do you need a quick release? That adds about $10 to everything you want to use it with. If you have a dolly, stabilizer, crane and tripod that's $40 just for the pucks. If you have money to pimp I guess go for it but its wasted money and space if you ask me. Instead just use the tripod head and pug and switch that from rig to rig. One time build and will fit all the pvc rigs here.
@lastdollarfilms It is a luxury, but it will help in the speed of switching rigs (constantly screwing your camera or puck into each rig can be a pain) as well as preserve the threads on your device. Some cheaper cameras have plastic threads that can get pretty chewed up by sharp threads and using the plate/puck system will help preserve them. You can always live without it, of course, but I've really liked using this system.

Funny enough we built a modified version of your stabilizer and added this quick release to it about 6 months ago. Been working great. I will have to send some pics or something of our stabilizer. We really sleeked it out and added more stabilizing functionality to it.

I LOVE this little add on, and it works wonderfully with your DIY builds. I feel a LOT more comfortable mounting my camera on this that a bolt. This totally alleviates the fear of screwing down a regular bolt too far into your camera. These also work very well on the Flycam Nano stabilizer.
this is a really good idea if you have alot of different rigs you attach your camera's to. I really only use my tripod and that came with a quick release and 2 bases to attach to your equipment so I can switch easily between camcorder and camera depending on what I need at the time.
Just got my three pucks in the mail, one for my shoulder rig, one for my tripod, one for my flycam. Thanks for the recommendation!

On the PVC stabilizer rig, how long is the screw after you shorten it to accept the quick connect puck?

I bought the H4n handy recorder. Should I get an XLR box also?
mollybryg 6 months ago
@mollybryg Only if you need to get XLR sound into your camera. The H4n is great for double-system sound (recording sound separate from picture).

so, did you buy separate quick release pucks for all your rigs.. or do you just have one and switch it out between all rigs?
