  • all you guys are morons hes reviewing this bike for a LONGTERM REAL LIFE representation of owning one, letting it get a little dirty, commuting (REASON HES COMPARING MPG DUMBASSES)- all the in depth stuff NOT covered generically like getting it dynoed or who its faster than on a track- something a person would do, if its owned. BTW its NOT a RACE BIKE, i see lights, ECM restrictions, EPA restrictions, a push button starter, and a license plate. RETARDS!!!!!

  • 2009 is long term????? Bloody hell... my 98 bike must be vintage!!!

  • I heard it has the worse seat comfort?

  • @Naturepheonix with such a hard suspension, and that much power, comfort doesn't really play a part lol

  • @select899 lol

  • Killer bike, and thanks for he great overall review...Told me all I need to know...GET A NEW R1!

  • Finally a review that pretty much covers everything, by a real rider not worried about getting wet and dirty, bravo!

  • Let the drifting do the talking!!!!!!!Awesome.

  • Yawn, buy a BMW for your luggage you plum

  • did i detect some drifting at 1:10 ?

  • i have a few grand to spend on a supersports bike when i could easily buy a cheaper bike....but if it costs a few £ more in fuel then fuggedaboutit van van ftw ?

  • what about the MPG's!!!

obviously we dont care too much, but from what i understand it gets 6 less miles per gallon than the other 1000's.

    - and to any motorcyclist that matters!

-if im wrong please correct me. i would love to hear that its still a 40mpg bike

  • sounds so quiet, baffles are probably still in.

  • Hard to unleash the power on the wet stuff with cold tires. I have an 04 with 23,000 miles. I thought I rode a lot. anyways great vid. Thanks MCN.

  • how about you take a wet cloth and some soapy water and wipe it down...gees.

  • @NoobInaCan

Could'nt agree more, mate give it a day off and give the poor bike a bloody wash and polish for cryin' out loud! That's disgusting...

  • tht exhaust makes it sound like a frekin...vtwin.. almost like the sv650

  • but its not, its a fucking R1

  • clearly you have trouble with the english vernacular. I simply stated 98% of ALL sport-super-street bike owners will never take their bike to any sort of track.......so therefore questioning mileage, because 98% of the time it will be used on public roadways, for ANY type of bike is a smart thing to do...

going fast is fun, but pointless if you have to fill the tank up 2-3 times a session....I didn't reply to your statement making an argument, just filling you in on some market information.

  • you need to change the tires

  • can anyone tell me why is red light flickering in instrument cluster, sorry i don't own superbike till now...i hope i''ll get in future........

  • That would be for anti- theft (security system)

  • @suprmoto ,,thanks man......

  • lets then 2% of all sport bike riders take their bikes to the track........nice try though

  • its a race bike is his point as qouted by yamaha

  • Vmax is a beast for how it sounds :D

  • i've never had a problem with feuling on my 09 r1.. does over 130 miles before the light comes on... I've never had to feul up any sooner than 08 r1's,,, 07 zx10's,, etc

  • It's a 4L but sounds like a V engine :)) I like it

  • Nice back wheel drifting.

  • R1 is fugly

  • R1 is the king!

  • Nah - it's been dethroned by BMW S1000RR

  • it gets about 30mpg but its capibile of 38+. if your worried about gas milage buy a 600.

  • if your worried about gas milage get a Prius

  • @alex0695

r1200gs can do 350mpg if go for optional big tank! but i'd rather have a sportsbike!

shame this r1 is soo ugly unlike the 98/99 r1 or the 2002/3 model for that matter

  • someone (journalist) PLEASE comment on the new R1's fuel milage. i know motorcycles are about speed and fun, but the mpg's have always been a bonus and from what i hear the R1 gets a pathetic 29mpg

  • really? 29mpg? that's worse than a Camry.

  • It's an R1 you moron

  • ? does that give it an excuse to get almost 10mpg less than a gixxer thou, cbr 1000rr, or zx-10.

    - the point is, nobody is touching on this issue, and if you do a google search you'll already find a ton of forums with people asking why there only getting 100miles per tank

  • @julingy with a sound like that, who cares

  • do u guys ride in teh winter.....im in chicago and was wondering if i should go out

  • I would recommend it. Bit of a butt clencher when you first go out but I was really surprised how easy it is. Built my confidence big time! Plus you feel like a proper biker. Gets addictive though, I found myself intentionally going out in the rain. Am in Scotland by the way.

  • uh no always put away your bike after mid November don't kill yourself

  • Would have been nice to have seen more of the bike

  • And fourth get rid of that big thing sticking out its ass!

  • that review was absolutely worthless

  • sound move gettin rid of the catalyst makes the bike a lot better . nice bike ;D anybody who got the catylist fitted still .see if you can ride the same bike as you have without the catylist and an aftermarket pipe fitted you will see just how sifferent the bike is its well worth doin

  • For God Sakes Clean your Bike!

  • front headlights look much better dirty

  • boooringgg!!

  • haha wooow nice wheelspin ;) nice bike

  • must credit that to the big bang engine

  • that ending shot was pretty sketch lol even the cameraman flinched

  • hit the wet white line

  • liam marsden's got bollocks haha

  • lovely looking bike, but the sound it makes i find is more of an aquired taste, some of my freinds like it, others dont. i prefer the sound of a duke 1098 or a gixxer k5 with termigoni's on ;)

  • @sik1blud This bike sounds amazing with two brothers!

  • Comment removed

  • somebody like to drift it!!!

  • geez that bike is dirty!

  • The bikes just sounds....AWESOME. Cross-plane-Crankshaft is a brilliant idea for a bike.

  • Didnt this guy do the zx10 longterm report too? How many 1000cc bikes does this guy have!

  • i love this bike.

  • are those BT-003's or 016's?

  • wow its nice to see a bit of 2 wheeled hooliganism from you guys

  • I had '05 XTR and had a TPS problem, now the year 2010, with this beautiful revolutionary R1, TPS problem again??! C'mon Yami, you could have made some improvement on fueling! I'm happy with my sublime Hornet '08. Nice review though. Thanks Adam!

  • is that the m1 in the background n is it near brodsworth hall and doncaster m8

  • The 1098/1198 are one of the most wheelie-prone (due to its massive torque to weight ratio) production bikes on the market. By your virtue, it must also be junk. I personally would call you crazy but, hey, you said it.

  • very nice R1, and with the akrapovic ... sound looks nice
