all you guys are morons hes reviewing this bike for a LONGTERM REAL LIFE representation of owning one, letting it get a little dirty, commuting (REASON HES COMPARING MPG DUMBASSES)- all the in depth stuff NOT covered generically like getting it dynoed or who its faster than on a track- something a person would do, if its owned. BTW its NOT a RACE BIKE, i see lights, ECM restrictions, EPA restrictions, a push button starter, and a license plate. RETARDS!!!!!
i have a few grand to spend on a supersports bike when i could easily buy a cheaper bike....but if it costs a few £ more in fuel then fuggedaboutit van van ftw ?
clearly you have trouble with the english vernacular. I simply stated 98% of ALL sport-super-street bike owners will never take their bike to any sort of track.......so therefore questioning mileage, because 98% of the time it will be used on public roadways, for ANY type of bike is a smart thing to do...
going fast is fun, but pointless if you have to fill the tank up 2-3 times a session....I didn't reply to your statement making an argument, just filling you in on some market information.
i've never had a problem with feuling on my 09 r1.. does over 130 miles before the light comes on... I've never had to feul up any sooner than 08 r1's,,, 07 zx10's,, etc
someone (journalist) PLEASE comment on the new R1's fuel milage. i know motorcycles are about speed and fun, but the mpg's have always been a bonus and from what i hear the R1 gets a pathetic 29mpg
? does that give it an excuse to get almost 10mpg less than a gixxer thou, cbr 1000rr, or zx-10.
- the point is, nobody is touching on this issue, and if you do a google search you'll already find a ton of forums with people asking why there only getting 100miles per tank
I would recommend it. Bit of a butt clencher when you first go out but I was really surprised how easy it is. Built my confidence big time! Plus you feel like a proper biker. Gets addictive though, I found myself intentionally going out in the rain. Am in Scotland by the way.
sound move gettin rid of the catalyst makes the bike a lot better . nice bike ;D anybody who got the catylist fitted still .see if you can ride the same bike as you have without the catylist and an aftermarket pipe fitted you will see just how sifferent the bike is its well worth doin
lovely looking bike, but the sound it makes i find is more of an aquired taste, some of my freinds like it, others dont. i prefer the sound of a duke 1098 or a gixxer k5 with termigoni's on ;)
I had '05 XTR and had a TPS problem, now the year 2010, with this beautiful revolutionary R1, TPS problem again??! C'mon Yami, you could have made some improvement on fueling! I'm happy with my sublime Hornet '08. Nice review though. Thanks Adam!
The 1098/1198 are one of the most wheelie-prone (due to its massive torque to weight ratio) production bikes on the market. By your virtue, it must also be junk. I personally would call you crazy but, hey, you said it.

what about the MPG's!!!
obviously we dont care too much, but from what i understand it gets 6 less miles per gallon than the other 1000's.
- and to any motorcyclist that matters!
-if im wrong please correct me. i would love to hear that its still a 40mpg bike

r1200gs can do 350mpg if go for optional big tank! but i'd rather have a sportsbike!
shame this r1 is soo ugly unlike the 98/99 r1 or the 2002/3 model for that matter
