  • try to work on your tehnique, man if i should buy pair of stick every 5 minutes of playing, i would go jazz. Thank god i manage to improve my hitting tehnique, because I will never go soft and quiet. METAL 4 EVER .\oo/

  • @maxick I never said I was soft and quiet, I just don't deliberately bash the shit out of things or the sticks get chewed and it actually sounds worse. I hit hard and loud, but not to the extent that I'm deliberately smashing stuff.

  • @Paulie hhhm, that bites. It's only happening on the new ones but not on this one abt the hitting. Oh well, ..

  • Paulie, sup dude? Don't sweat haters my man. Anyways, tried watching some vies but getn msg that author of bids does not allow playback on iPad? What gives...btw, saw rush on wed, Pratt sent regards!

  • @bigdaddy812 Probably some agreement between Apple and all the stuff it sells on its iTunes site. I don't know.... Unless you are in Germany... for some reason, almost ALL my videos are banned in Germany! Whatever!

  • I'd never have thought you play soft – and I've watched pretty much all your tuts.

    Anyway, you roque! Keep posting!

  • u know u can hit harder without hitting rimshots lol

insted of just hitting harder u also changed the way u played

  • Sometimes finesse is best.

  • This is music, not a contest for who can hit the hardest. I feel sorry for the morons who feel the need to be good you must hit hard, they obviously aren't musicians. Never make another one of these videos tying to explain things to idiots, it's a waste of time. just ignore them.

  • this is pathetic! people complaining tat u dont hit hard enuf?! there is much more skill to playing queitly and PLAYING THE MUSIC! Iv got a lot of experience in this sort of playing, live concerts and pantomime drumming, and it is much more of a challenge than playing hard! Play the way u play paulie!

  • @davidbrodlie AGREED!!

  • Paulie,WHY oh WHY did you even BOTHER feeling that you HAD TO EXPLAIN WHY you don't PLAY HARD to IDIOTS who will NEVER UNDERSTAND the realities of LIFE ITSELF?? It's like CONSTANTLY TRYING make a complete DEAF PERSON,HEAR WHAT YOUR SAYING!! It'll NEVER HAPPEN!! However...............to ME,this lil vid. showed your TRUE-CHARACTER on how WELL you hold yourself UP to the naysayers!! BRAVO my Friend!! AND......QUALITY is NEVER in how LOUD you sound, but the intricacies of your playing!! Wa-HO!!!!

  • now lets see what it did to your cymbals... doe!

  • Thats why I buy Bargin Brand Sticks Paulie lol... Italmelodie in Montreal 12pr's for 20 bux~!.. so I dont cares when they break. Taylor Made sticks are for rock stars..

  • @TheDigitalMafia The happy medium is that you can buy good sticks and not break them. Shitty sticks break constantly and sound like crap and are undependable... I KNOW when my vic firth AH5B is going to break, so I'm prepared, or I ditch it before-hand. "seconds" are, well, seconds, they're flawed. And as such, they will break at random. I don't like to deal with that.

  • I counted the number of marks on the right stick 2:32 , it looks as if you were playing 32nd notes on the hihat to try to cheat how hard you can hit jk

  • i have played with drummers that wacked the drums like hell and it's the worse kind of drummers for me.. they can all play motley crue if they want.

.when you have a good drummer, like pauliewanna, you know he's smart enough to play the right way..

  • i get that its annoying sticks might not be as durable as you may like. Some constructive criticism: Louder doesn't always mean harder. try using thicker sticks if you have to hit hard. Use different materials like carbosticks, ahead etc.

When people say you don't hit hard enough, they should be saying you aren't loud enough (there's a difference). I never break sticks and no-one has ever told me i'm not loud enough, and i use pretty thin vic-firths. Just a few ideas!

  • @dave90mckeague But, this is what I'm saying... I don't need to hit hard to cut through my band's marshall stack or bass amp, or P.A. etc. without even mic'ing my drums. I just did this video because a lot of people have told me that I don't hit the drums hard enough. Whatever! As far as breaking sticks... I usually just wear them out and then they break when I hit the shoulder on the bell of he ride... I would say 95% of the sticks I break are on the bell of the ride...

  • @Pauliewanna those people obviously don't know what they're saying! I'm sure you know that good technique can let you play loud without hitting hard. If they're just looking for a visual thing (as a rock guy needs to at least look like they're playing hard), you can look like you're playing hard without being ridiculous. Chad Smith and Aaron Gillespie play about as hard as you'd ever need to, and i know Chad doesn't go through too many pairs.

  • i play 3 to 4 times and week. my sticks last me 6 months. why hit hard? there are stuff call mics

  • It's more about technique and precision.

  • You don't have to beat the crap out of your drums to make them loud. Just find the drums' sweet spot and exploit it like a dumb, rich kid.

  • I pride myself in the sticks, heads and cymbals that i DON'T break. Great vid! :)

  • my sticks look much more chewed up after five mins then those ones did when i get a new pair i buy like ten and they last me about a month

  • @ryanandbranslurppiss by the way sticks at my local store cost 13.50$ for a pair and 45$ for 5 pairs

  • @ryanandbranslurppiss Well, if you are spending 90 bucks a month on sticks just so you can play the drums, you might want to look into adjusting something so that you don't go through so many.

  • @ryanandbranslurppiss Well, I make a dozen pair last about a year usually and I play 10 hours a week. I am loud, but I don't hit hard -- as I tried to drive home in this video - it's just too damned expensive.

  • Contusions... hahahaha

  • I think an hour is a bit of an exaggeration, but then again, you could just turn into the hulk when you hit things as hard as you can. And who knows? There's a distinct lack of video footage of you playing as hard as possible. I'm on to you, Paul...

  • Thanks for the video! I've missed you man! Hope to have you making more videos soon!
