That's Amazing! I really like all your videos and I think what also would create a good zombie effect is when they're following you guys out of the parking lot, one of them should of fell all weird downm the stairs.. you know aha
im making a zombie film as well for my A2 film piece but am making it in a sort of shaun of the dead style. can i just ask what did you do for the make up on your zombies? cause they look so good!
@rstudiosfilms are you serious? toilet paper and latex? well whatever works best i suppose! dont know how im gonna tell my actors they have to put toilet paper on their faces but i'll give it a go!
k, if i herd "iv been bit, come help" on my fone, id either leave him there, or grab SOME SORT OF WEAPON. it makes it kind of obvious that its zombies
The FUCK? only 8 thousand views?. This shit should get like over 9thousand millions of views. What the fuck youtube, seriously, stop watching shit and watch this.
please dont have so many people dressed alike/look alike
the very last shot felt like it had a comicle goal (perhaps go backwards with the camera as to shocase the entire scene from the main characters)
im not too sure what this technicle problem is, or if it wasnt intended like this, but in scenes where the camera shakes, the image seems distorted every couple of frames (higher shutter speed might help)
nice short, i was hoping to see maybe a little longer or the idea that hes bleeding so he got bit, and hed be looking at the zombies outside the booth, and turn around to see the other kid turned into a zombie lol would make for awesome actual opening scene!
@MMAFANtastic That was the original idea - we even shot the bit of Tom turning into a zombie and turning on Nathan, but it didn't look too good so we thought it's best left implied. :)
The cinematography and mise-en-scene was outstanding. Brilliant use of natural lighting, to create a dark and eerie feel to it, although I didn't like the idea of it being shot in broad day-light. Costuming wasn't genius, but it worked just as well as any other Zombie-Apocolypse film I've ever seen. The locations were simple, but effective, which was smart. It was acted out to a decent standard, except for the lad who was bitten. I found his dialogue during the phone-call, forced. Overall, 8/10.
Audio is the hardest thing to produce properly, hence most films now a days require such long post production periods. annnnnnnywayssss, well done. esspecially with working with your budget, thumbs up.
Great video! We're screaming for submissions at theZIFF.com - anyone alive or undead can upload a 5-minute zombie film for a chance to win the ZIFF award & $500 in gift cards!
@gamereviewski iMovie is okay but may be difficult when editing a proper film. It's more for home movies etc. The colour is a grading effect (search Magic Bullet Mojo.) Good luck with your film!
it was good, but you could do better. Evidently you set the sound too high in whatever video editing program you have, sony vegas, after effects, vision lab, you should usually just leave the music track volume at the default.
@RedSquarrel666 Yes I realise there are a number of problems with the sound. I think it was because I was mixing different tracks that were different volumes and so it at times it distorts... really badly! Thanks though. ;)
I really think whoever edited & directed this has talent. For your age (as you look young), really well made. A bit of overacting, but that goes away with practice. Really nicely colorized piece of film.
From 22seconds until 30 seconds, that was some pro level panning. Very subtle, but made the quick shot 100times better than it would have been sitting there on a tripod.
@cool99high Haha no we didn't, because of the angle of the camera it's difficult to tell the perspective, so he's actually about 4ft away when the guy swings it. Then in editing I just added in a nice clanging sound effect. ;)
wat kind of software did u use to edit this cause it was really good. and the film. and how does the boom mic work cause when i get my camera ....eventually... i wanna know how it works
@microdasher It's edited in Final Cut Express. The boom mic is just an external microphone plugged into the cameras microphone socket, most cameras have one. And that's it, the camera records with the external rather than the built in microphone.
Everything was quite good. High contrast look was great actually.
Something about the shutter speed and the shaky camera in the garage chase scene really made it look like shit, no offense though. The audio could have been better as well inside the phone booth.
Nonetheless, I still Really liked the phone booth scene, very nice! When the zombie appeared behind the one guy in the booth, it caused a nice little scare. Good job overall!
@dimension2793 Thanks. Yes, I agree I over did the low shutter speed look - it seems overly jerky. And on the day I forgot my boom mike, hence we had to use the camera's microphone leading to the crappy sound.
Thanks again though, I'm glad it scared you, even if a little. :)
really good, you had some nice shots in there, one comment though; i understand u were using that kind of green color grade to make the movie look cool but maybe you should take off a bit of that saturation next time, tghe shadow areas are completly black
@rstudiosfilms yeh but dont get me wrong, the contrast was a good move i think, it really adds effect to the film, just maybe a tiny bit to much :) but this is a lot better than most of the zombie shorts on youtube :) Im looking forward to some more films from you.
i personally do films and are making a zombie hour and a half awesome film... and i say this was awesome...you kids rele have good camera angles! and i liked the shaky camera... take advice from real film makers... this was good
pretty good mate...have to say the camera was a bit too shaky for me but it was alright still...the mood was there.
also the color seemed a bit too intensely changed, but once again, set the mood for it being a 3 minute short. I don't know if it would work for a full film but it looked really good still.
Very cool. The color corrrection seemed a bit over top to me at first, but then I started watching the short and I totally dug what you did. That was sweet.
thanks! :D the shaky camera was me trying to copy the style of 28 days Later. I agree about the makeup and on the day I forgot my boom mic - hence the inaudible dialogue! ;)
The shaky camera gives it a real gritty feel and is used in hollywood alot of zombie flicks which have along with Vampire films and shows become the rage at the moment. Good job!
