All you need for a nice responsive stylus on ANY touchscreen using heat sensitive screen like most droids and ipads, get an antenna and conductive foam. Cut small piece of foam and super glue it to end of antenna- your done and you have a scratch proof stylus with precision of a pencil.

Finger is simple and more accessible, however the stylus is support by 2 fingers and thumb which means that the freedom of precise movement is greater.

If you want to try the homemade stylus, but don't feel like scratching up the screen, you can put just one layer of electrical tape over the tip of stylus. The worst that can happen if you do this is that you'll smudge up the screen pretty severely, but that's exactly why a polishing cloth was included in the original package. Also, jam the tip of the stylus against a hard surface if you want the iPod to respond at even the lightest pressure.

The reason that this works is because the ipod touch and iphone have electrostatic touchscreens, so because your body always has a small amount of charge, then your finger can be used to stimulate the particles on the screen. Thus, any non conductive materials cannot be used in an iphone/ipod touch stylus. There must also be a source of electrical charge whether it be from your finger (as show in the stylus above) or it can be from a AAA battery (Anode Side)
