True not everybody with brown skin in DR is mixed with black African.

Only 2 black people can make a black child & a person who is say 25% black & 75% white (like me) is not black. The self-identity of a mulatto (yes some people still do use the word) is based off of environment & personal choice. More mixed people are actually identifying as mixed instead of just black.

@ewd31989: Most Dominicans are mixed with black African. Being black in DR was seen as inferior, so the cleansing of the bloodline was taking place in DR with limits on non-European immigration. A lot of Dominicans like to see themselves as anything but black. They will even call themselves Taino or Hispanic. A lot of Dominicans are now recognizing their blackness. True not everybody with brown skin in DR is mixed with black African.
