  • i like that the instructor says that training has as its result confidence

  • Go FMA. Pugay.

  • I doubt if that PG Hufana has a Spanish ancestor. He looks more African than Spanish.

  • seems like every western martial artist in these arts are fat

  • @cenerozzzz many FMAers are fat. Doesn't mean we're slow or impaired in performance so little technique engages the abdominals like in unarmed combat.

  • Eskrima is the reason filipino survive from spanish conqisadors and and japanese occupation.

  • Wow

  • i trained in arnis when i was in college. 2 years later i had the privileged to enroll in a yaw yan gym (pasay) .. GOFMA

  • It is interesting that the commentator says Punog guro Hufanas great grandfather was Spanish, and taught martial arts. He could of course have adopted the indiginous martial systems, but I have heard about people researching connections between Filipino martial arts and old Spanish dittos, like Verdera Destreza.

  • Yaw Yan short for saYaw ng kamataYan or dance of death is the philippine kickboxing.promote this fma so it get more popular in our country.

  • I've been in a couple of PG Hufana's classes and he seems to be an extremely knowledgeable guy and a great teacher.

  • those news people are idiots. I don't know if they mock martial arts or just complete ignorance. They way the present this style of disrespectful.

  • spanish priest grandfather my as* , alot of filipinos make incoherent claims of pretending to be spanish when less than 5% of the total population has any real spanish blood. thats colonial mentality at its best. he doesnt even look spanish. and arnis the word isnt even filipino to start with. the filipino martial arts didnt have a formal name till the spanish began taking notes.

  • FMA can be dated back well before the Spanish came. Phils were part of the spice trading route of asia. Merchants would trade steal and cotton for rice and spices. A big trader were the Muslims all the way up from Africa. Sword handling mostly came from them. So it's safe to say the art is more than 2000 years old. The Spanish were amazed that the natives had metal weapons to fight against them. Just thought I'd share that.

  • HOOOOYYY!!

    GAGO kAyong Lahat!!!

Btw.. lol we call all elderly people Grandpa..

its how we show respect to old people!

  • I study the "Estilong Paikot" (round style) arnis, here in Melbourne, Australia - I wouldn't go back to the other martial arts again!

  • Without the opponent, there would be no weapon. Respect the weapon? That will get you killed first.

It's very nice to see a POSITIVE mention of the FMA's in the media. It can only serve to draw more attention to the many wonderful styles of FMA!

    Yours in the arts, Andy

  • damn reminds me of da good old days lol now im to busy studieing damn lol

  • Regards to GM Hufana, from the nephew of GM Elmer Ybañez here in the PI. God Bless to all FMA practitioners :)

  • Sweet! I used to live in WA State, trained with Kelly Worden and have attended seminars at PG Hufana's school in Bellevue.

  • how can a spanish great grandfather priest have grandchildren?? LOL!! prbbly raped, or maybe excommunicated. LOL!!

    awesome clip tho, thnx.

  • You`re right. Its sad (nah not really) but true thats some priests had too much R&R back in the old days. My girlfriend is a product of that. Her greatgreatgrandpa was a priest who "loved" to much. Anyways FMA is old but that depends from what region its originating from. Visayas claims to be better and more true to the roots than Luzon and blah blah blah. But for me FMA is all great no matter how old and how you call it.

  • Yes they do... where do you think the mestizos came from?

  • Huh? ur serious? ok

Mestizos are the products of indios and spanish...

  • FYI in the phil. we call our grandfathers brother grandfather as well, or our father's uncles. I wont rule out your opinion i just want to state my point.

  • no it's not. thats just hocus pocus advertisement - "The older, the better."

  • Estoca, with no disrespect at all intended...do you know how old the FMAs are?

  • I'm unsure if it's 2000 years old...but it sure is a close number. The FMAs have been around way before the arrival of the Spanish. Whether its called Arnis, Kali, or Escrima (they're all basically the same thing)...the FMAs are old...reallllly old.

  • arnis is 2,000 years old?! holy history revision batman!

  • Good stuff. Spreading the love all over the world. Mabuhay!
