Ling jie 9.675 was a travesty! And olaru received a 9.7??? thank god for the new code of points! That horrible Romanian gymnastics will never be rewarded again!
Elena really seems to be able to control her power better on the beam than the floor as she can be a bit wild on the landings but you can see that she brings a real energy to all the apparatus she works on.
Well technically it is an arabian. Sometimes she refers to it as an Arabian Tinska (sp?) but it is techically an arabian back handspring since the half twist occurs before hand contact. Onodi isn't the innovator of the skill and even Henrietta called it a Mostepanova. This commentater has great history in the sport so you kinda have to think a bit before you second-guess her.
Produnova was the queen of double front, gorgeous dismount

@kundun5 Wow. What's so horrible about the Romanian gymnastics? What's so fair about the new code of points?

Wow, I've never seen anyone connect a flic into an onodi before.
AlixPelletier 2 years ago
onodi used to do it out of a back handspring - layout stepout

Olga Mostepanonva did it as well in the 1983 Worlds it wasnt named after her unfortunately due to the Soveit Union Boycott of the 84 Olympic games

Okay, she says Onodi in the replay.

I love how British commentators never know named elements. When Produnova did the Onodi, it was said to be a standing arabian.
