They use a projection screen. I'm sure you know about Hatsune Miku, look up some of her concert videos. You can see the reflections of the crowd on the screen. She's just a computer generated image being projected onto the stage, same as here.

They are, however, working on actual "hologram" technology with Hatsune Miku. I can't remember the name, it's like a little tablet, Miku appears on top of it, she reacts to angles and tilts, etc.
