Yeah in fact that's a major historical error in Empire: total war. In central italy, there is a faction called "Italian states" with rome as its captial. but these sttates were all independent of each other, with the papal states having the most influence tough it didn't really cover alot of land.

I am Serb,and i am a bit angry about the Medieval 2!They haven't put the Serbia in the game,but they have put the Spain that didn't even existed as one country till 16th century.Well the mod called Tsardoms:Total War is being built,and there will be Serbia,Bulgaria,Turks,Byzantin­e Venetian republic,hungary....Yeah and EmpireTW is little too short,only one century?You will have only one ruler to reign trough that time!

home boy made a mistake I feel that he though tthat by doing so he can prevent units going around him and pressuring the rear with pressure already in the fromt lines, I personally like getting rid of the cannons with bombardment then have my calvary rear the enemy and pressuring units to comfront mine head on with my units in defence while the bombardment cause extensive damage

German land troops were never defeated in the war civilians just revolted against the emperor.
