Lombardo is who Lombardo is. A seminal musician with a knack for finding the right drum parts to fit a song. He's not bad (did I ever say that? No I didn't). He's a legend, but he's also no technician.

This guy can certainly fill his shoes and obviously did so with no problem. Timing was tight, levels were consistent, etc.

This is a talented, seasoned guy.

The dude is a friend and I can tell you he was nervous as this was a fucking opportunity of a lifetime for him to play for a band that has had influence in his career. Russ is a better drummer than Lombardo although you would never hear him say that. Lombardo couldn't touch any or Russ's ORIGINAL work he isn't fast enough.
