I read the first two books and its completely ridiculos. Soo boring a three year old would be able to understand it. The show in the other hand is totally awesome it's got more action , more details, and more realistic. Can't wait for the season finale tonight at 8 PM in the CW. Till then.

I like both the books and the show. It's like you get two completely different stories, more people, more connections on the show. It's awesome that they don't go word for word. That is something that you do when you make a movie, the show's creators based the show on the book, they never said it would be like twilight where it would be as close to the book as possible. And I would want it no other way. It keeps people interested in the show, and makes people wonder about the books.

I, like other reviewers on here, think that the show is just sooo much better. The books get... well, too weird... even for a series about vampires. lol. And they also get very boring and the characters aren't as likable as in the show. Now I am borderline OBSESSED with TVD tv show version. I love it so much that it's sort of sad. :( I CANNOT WAIT for the Isobel episode, especially after the one last night (Blood Brothers), whichwas spectacular. Keep 'em comin, CW!

Wow, I'm reading all these reviews about people saying the show is so much better than the books. That's pretty sad considering the show's origins originate from a book. Usually you hear the book is better the movie. I love this show and never intended to read the books anyway cause I wanted to keep the image of the show in my head as reading immerses you into another experience. I'm glad I made this choice based on the reviews.

Nah the books are great, especially the first 3. The show is great & I am obsessed but the books were the same experience for me! I read them and couldn't put the books down! Almost every chapter ended with something exciting. The last few books do get rather weird but the first books are so worth reading. Even the last few are good too; especially if you're a Damon fan. I definitely recommend reading the books. They're different from the show but both plots are great & riveting.

I love this show..it's fabulous..It reaches all ages..Really good acting..Allaric is awesome..All the men are delich..

I really miss Jasmine Guy though..:(..she was flawless..

If i had to pick on anything..it would be the music..they need to pick better tunes..It's almost like no thought goes into picking music for the background..and it comes off corny sometimes..Other than that, awesome show~

Well the book series isn't over yet. "The Return: Midnight" will come out December 8th (coincidentally also Ian Somerhalder's 32nd birthday!), and it is the last book of the series. In that book we'll find out whom she ends up with - Damon or Stefan. I cannot wait! You really like Damon in the books, especially when you find out that a lot of the stuff you hated him for in the first 2 books is stuff he didn't really do.

Don't worry, the books are COMPLETELY different from the show. Totally different. The whole plot is different. Basically the only things that remain the same from the book is that Stefan's the good vampire, Damon's the bad vampire, and Katherine was the one they fought over so many years ago. And the Salvatore brothers in the books are over 500 years old, not 165 or so.

ALSO, I read that the show has no plans to turn Elena into a vampire ANY time soon. So no vamp Elena.

Ok, Caroline is a bitch in the books. Damon's not so hard-core-evil. Vikki doesnt become a vamp, she just goes insane after a vamp bite. Bonnie, Caroline, and eventually Tyler know about vampiness. There arent so many twists in the books for the first part. I just wish they'd get the characters to look more like themselves (curly red-head Bonnie, Blonde Elena, black haired Stefan e.t.c)

I'm excited. I love this show! It seems like when things seem to slow down, they pick up again with greater heights, sucking you in. Then when your into it, with eager eyes glued to your TV. The show ends, making you jump on the edge of your seat wanting Thursday to come faster. I'm really happy with VD so far...

I have a big feeling that they are going to get Stefan back after he leaves without his ring, but not before Damon and Elena get even closer. The show is complex yes, but that's what makes it so great....you get hooked and just have to see what happens next. Also, the show is so much better than the books.

I love VAMPIRE DIARIES i have seen EVERY episode (That means 1-20 i think) and I am reading the books i alredy finished "The Awakeing" and "The Struggle" and "The Fury" as of now i am reading "Dark Reunion." I tryed to read Twilight "New Moon" but i stopped half way and began watching Vampire Diaries, then at the end of December of 2009 during the 2 month hatis (Break) I started reading the books. @nessaa190 Huh yeah it is. Elena's a blond, Jermeny doesn't even exsist, and Stefan and Damon are from 1600's Italy. Bonnie's last name is not Bennett its McCoughen (However you spell it.) And theirs a Meredith thats not only Elena and Bonnie's best friend but is also the smartest person around. Meredith ends up dateing Alaric Saltzman not Elena's aunt. Bonnie is desended from the Druids not the Salmen Witch's. Huh, yeah. Its a lot different. Thats all I got to say!! !!
