  • Get us some action missiles, then we're in business.

  • OH SHIT ITS A T1X!

  • These robots will be used against us in the future. Ever seen Terminator? Stupid science geeks happily invent things that will fuck us up.

  • I could imagine someone pull up into a McDonalds drivethru riding one of these.

  • in the robot controled future, robots wiill be showing all the little robots this video as some sort "this is how our ancestors evolved" education video.

  • I think what these people figured out is that you don't need to make a walking robot look like a human when it walks.

  • wow that two-legged robot sure can run fast!

  • I suddenly feel like hopping.

  • 1:04 someone lose control

  • Comment removed

  • Блин я так не умею, как роботы умеют. Человечество завоёвано...

  • This just made my day

  • This thing's got personality, I'd love to see that personality move on into PETMAN :D

  • science.

  • This scares me. i mean WHY NOT? Haha

  • 1:28 That's how my fat Chihuahua walks XD

  • @BlazeDeval i wana see ur fat chihuahahua

  • JUMP MY POGO STICK :D

  • 00:30

    Happy gay walk

  • @Videogametourist Until it chases you...

  • Dear santa...

  • why the fuck do i neED a robot that can front flip flat...

  • THEY COME!

  • mute the video and play starwars cantina song with this. fits perfect :P

  • It must be a rather tear-jerking moment; to watch what you've put eons of work into, succeed.

  • It almost looks like the robots are happy ;)

  • The future Aperture Science Laboratories !

    Science isn't about why, it's about why not.

    -Cave Jonhson

  • @rockerman47

    I want combustible lemons now

  • @rockerman47

    thats exactly what the scientists at jurassic park were thinking, now look at it

  • I'm not being funny, but this could be the beginning of real life video games.

  • Orgasm @1:07

  • it started off skipping so jauntily

  • I didnt know we had this technology until now, let alone in the 80's and 90's

  • 1:25 shall be named Olddog

  • robots. doing. front flips.

    DUUUDE

  • @vlax42 but can it barrel roll?

  • I hear howard wolowitz in the background..

  • Autonomous pogo stick

  • Fuck, imagine that chasing after you, doing flips and stuff.

  • ITS A UFO PLAYING WITH A POGO STICK!!!!!

  • You guys cant even imagine amount of effort what was put into this. So please stop saying "fake, gay" etc. Scientific work is slow - but very useful.

  • Can any of them catch a football?

  • fake and gay

  • @tannerfeemster how the hell is this fake?

  • Damn, Boston Dynamics, you scary.

    I would love to work with you guys in the future.

  • Who else would run like the wind if they saw one of these coming?

  • that video looks like its from the 1980's, imagine what they have now and aren't telling us.

  • ha it`s imposible!

  • no, it's POSSIBLE!!!!

  • make one o those jumping things with a giant fucking saw on it

    it would make hajji shit his pants

  • why has it taken over 30 years to develop that bigdog thing? they fucking made it back in 80s...

  • cockroaches are WAY more intelligent and sophisticated than these robots.

  • @nadoeloiskat And you miss the whole ponit WAY more than the most intelligent cockroach.

  • @Puleczech No, cockroaches can learn, track food, avoid light, and engage in complex cleaning and mating behaviors. They can also adapt easily to rough terrain, unlike these robots, and don't need to be plugged in :) .

    Not dissing the robot creators in any way, I'm just saying that they still have a ways to go before they create anything as sophisticated as a cockroach.

  • @aronchai Well if you consider that cockroaches are evolving for hundreds of millions years already and these robots get massive shifts in their abilities through new technology within decades, the way is not so long as it may seem. This video is something like 25 years old, look where are these guys now. We are talking about shift from useless one-legged jumping toaster to BigDog or Petman in three decades.

  • I love the MASSIVELY delayed clap for the front flipping robot. lmfao.

  • @JDMAero I think they were waiting to see if it could keep on walking after doing the flip or if it would lose balance.

  • Comment removed

  • asimo can climb stairs. Boston dynamics robots can do front flips over asimo while it is climbing stairs.

  • I strangely find all these robots cute!

  • not bad not bad

  • Silent Hill creatures of....THE FUTURE

  • Wouldn't want it chasing after me. ;_;

  • Pogostick army is an strategical advantage in a battle.

  • i love how the main thing that all robots must do is flip

  • What is big dogs max speed, because this things look faster...

  • Amazing!

  • 0:40. SKIP SKIP SKIP SKIP ovo!

  • Wow!! Olympic robots!! 1:20 like a happy dog)

  • Wow!! Olympic robots!!

  • THE WAR MACHINES OF THE FUTURE WILL NOT WALK, BUT HOP INTO BATTLE.

  • This thing sounds like a train ridin' down tracks.

  • "So, i was on guard duty, the this fucking birdcage on a pogo stick assaulted me."

    "No sir, i am not trying to shit you"

  • the robot olympics...they are coming

  • Boing, boing, boing, boing... all day long :)

  • that is amazing

  • Comment to the last one - why not give it a flexible back...i think this will help a lot.

  • Terminator 5: Hopping day.

  • MOMMIE! I want that living Pogostick! RIGHT NOW!

  • Whoa.

  • Judging from the last robot, they've been developing Big Dog for some time now.

  • was watching the running one saying "that's pretty cool, but i bet it can't back flip". Dayum shushed by a bot...

  • It can flip... but can it do a barrel roll?

  • Front flip

  • that scares me

  • So japan and other asian countries are aiming for something else and these guys for saving etc awesome!

  • giant rc pogo stick?

  • Boston Dynamics are far ahead of any other robotic developers, they yust kick asses !!!... yeah that would be great, learn Pet Man to kick some Asses !!!!

  • I saw this years ago on American Scientific Frontiers... always wondered where it went.

  • Ha. at 1:27 "Ya know, just walkin my dog."

  • these are sooo freaking cooooll I wannttt onneeee

  • 1:00 Ohh WORD?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

  • That's really impressive!

  • Extremely fun! You enjoy making them don't you? The initial high-speed capability for some of these models are far more impressive than BigDog or PETMAN but I can see how they lack in the utility department. Regardless it must have been very inspiring to see these early models take off and shine in the areas you hoped they would.

  • they all look so happy lmao XD poor old big dog just gets pushed around all the time :(

  • They need to start up some sort of robotics olympics. If funding was a prize it'd really be an incentive to progress with this shit (other than the incentive given by massive military research grants)

  • CUT THE POWER! that 2 legged dickhead is generating a tornado :O

  • these are fucking 1980s!! xO wtf!?! big dog must be some sort of dumbed-down commercial cover-up project )))

  • @ActiveStorage These may look really advanced, but they're actually quite limited. They're more like experiments to see if these types of robots could work, and if so, how.

  • @durge666 i agree. i was a bit sarcastic )

    cheers

  • And we aren't using these because...?

  • @NeverevenStudios They're not exactly ready for prime time yet.

  • The first one; RoboStick

  • lol back when robots were made out of hidrolicks

  • This thing does some fuckin backflips O.O OMG!

  • WANANANANANA

  • What I really like about these machines is that they work in an almost completely different way to other robots. These robots can actually react to environments around them and it can keep its balance, it doesn't have some crappy pre-written program just running in the background. BigDog and PETMAN show this well when the guys comes up and tries to push the robot over, it just instantly reacts to this force and balances itself. Pure f*cking genius!

  • @MGSFan09 You should check out the "Hydraulic Power Extender" its a robot arm like off the Power Loader from the movie Aliens. It's on the U.C. Berkeley school website.

  • Boing! Boing!

  • the two legged one reminded me of a raptor

  • this thing would have been great for groceries

  • i lolled xD

  • imagin one of those running at u

  • 1:02 and 1:14 Until either Japan or China can invent a robot that can pull off doing flips then what they have now cant even compete with these. Even if they are decades old.

  • Theese ones are even cooler than those they make now :O!!!

  • Gosh, good science and fast progress, it seems like they swim in money. Who is financing?

  • They get their funding mostly from grants from private investors and different organizations such as Darpa, D.O.D, and maybe Nasa

  • DARPA of course.

  • Fantastic---especially  the saltos

  • When the robots split bone and flay the flesh of all biologicals, these people shall be remembered by the robotic overlords as gods, and by humans as the progenitors of the apocalypse.

  • Don't fear machines, they're just tools.

  • Witchcraft!

  • Not even close, high technology is all it is.

  • 1:02. WHAT.

  • soooooo awsome

  • I like these models a lot. the one at 0:25 is the best!

  • Can you imagine this this shit chasing you?!?!!! SCARY!

  • the frontflip robot PWNS!

  • what does he? pwns? sorry, my dictionary doesn't know what pwns is. it's crying, my eyes are bleeding. can't you spell properly?

  • @cloreal same as your eyes are bleeding, u got pwnd

  • see if they make more and more and like they go out of controll couse look at the speed it can run...

  • Here children was how the first particle accelerator was built

  • Pretty cool to see Bigdog's and Petman's ancestors on here. lol

  • iRobot?

  • That one at 30 seconds just freaks me out imagine that thing chasing you.

  • I just watched your PETMAN video and after seeing this...I am wondering when I will see a dancing robot. Something like Gene Kelley. If you are planning such a thing, can I help? I'm a programmer. :)

  • the only question is: when can i ride one of these things to work?!

  • My worst fear is now being chased by that THING at 0:27

  • "so. how have our millions of funding dollars been spent then?"

    "well, we got this box on 2 legs, it can do flips and shit"

  • Lol, are those things look so happy

  • human like robot ?!! :))

  • You know its crazy. You see the Japanese Robots do some crazy things, but then you see videos of what the americans are doing... there arent many videos of those (most are military projects), but the ones we do see are amazing!

    This video looks kind of dated, I wonder what we are up to now adays...

  • check their newest video, human like robot, pretty cool

  • Excelent...

  • wooow 1:00

  • omfg, look at the clothes of these guys..

    i think this video was some years old! maybe <2000

    can't imagine what's NOW is up to time!

    ~~~~~~
    sry for my english
  • Nah, they're just engineers. Typically engineers aren't the most fashionably-sensed people, being more concerned with numbers that what color goes with what.
  • "These guys" are the reason you have your computer, your internet, your microwave, your oven, your fridge, your air conditioner, and your car.
    They're far too busy being awesome and making the future to be cought up in silly, vain, and juvenile teenage girl shit like what color they're wearing or if their pants fashionably match their shirt.
  • Nah.
  • Yeah.
  • @SnakeTheFox
    I think they're so awesome, they can handle both. Thinking about shirts and science. o_O
  • NINJA ROBOTS anyone
  • makes me think of star wars.
  • «1:04» unreal, but its true 0.o f..mybrain
  • 0:54 - 1:10 = HOLY SHIT!
  • and they had this in the 80s wtf... it works perfect Oo
  • that's kinda creepy in a way O_O
  • where are the cup holders?
  • I think the pistons are the limit here because the software is strong. Somebody would need to invent artificial tendons (I hear some metals change shape with currents). When they achieve that, watch out.
  • I actually think these are more impressive than the "bigdog"... They apear to be more fluid and agile than that lumbering dog.... Now lets see that dog sit up and beg, roll over, and do back flips! Good buy! Here's your scooby snack =D
  • Roadrunner?
  • ROBOT GYMNASTICS!
  • yep we got them two leg kind here in Australia, the real ones known as kangaroos lol
  • a humanoid version .omg , nobody couldn't run that if it were programmed to find them
  • Knowing that this is an old video and that the government only releases stuff which is at least 40 years old.... holy shit, holy shit...
  • Holy shit that thing does front flips, I can't even do that
  • nobody can buddy
  • roflmao bingy boingy boingy!
  • it looks so innocent why not strap a minigun to it in 1:30 - 1:33
  • thats what they'll do
  • I like the robots that come out of Boston Dynamics... They never disappoint me...
  • 00:56  thats so sick
  • lol!!!!
  • Boston Dynamics Leg Technology are far beyond any other walking machine. A M A Z I N G !!!!!!!!
  • GREAT JOB
  • Excellent.
    So- the question remains:
    Battle star Galactica death robots
    or
    Star Wars clone warriors...?
  • @purbanegoro Why not both?
  • @purbanegoro more likely droidekas!
  • @purbanegoro Star Wars AT-AT!
  • I just love those flips, I wonder if big dog can do that?
  • Grana tem, só lhe falta-lhe o gramur. ;)
