I'm not religious, but that statement really is silly. It's true that all those superstitions claim to be the true version of Abrahamic demonology, but the nature of the transcendental creatures in question are vastly different. Which is why they don't all produce suicide bombers, among other things.

It is amazing how many of these different religions were starting all around the world at the same time. It is also interesting how religions mostly have the same concern for the well being of the person. For example, I saw the new documentary My Reincarnation and even though I am a Christian I found that the Rinpoche and the many prophets have similar messages and that is to keep in the faith and care for others. I know last year I was opening up different books in philosophy and religion in the bookstore. I was scared of the type of religious fanatics stalking me (jewish, christian, muslim...etc). I thought it was strange when I opened a book it said that they believe people are born the bond slave of the devil! WTF? There is good in world religions. I have followed and studied christianity, judaism and buddhism and find that they all seem to want to work on those helping themselves. Though, I never followed islam because I feel they are degrading to women and treat women like slaves (that's just my opinion). But, I don't understand why the relgions just don't get along?

The only way I believe you could have come close to that number would be counting the deaths of the USSR, which pales in comparison to the deaths caused by the Holocaust. The Thirty Years' War had 10 million deaths (2% of the population at the time) and the crusades had about 5 mill. (2% of pop.).

But in real life, Abraham was first, plenty of reasons to think Abraham was a real person whereas the Noah story is just the Judeofied version of an old Mesopotamian myth that was widespread in the region. There's even a version in the famous Ballad of Gilgamesh, there Utnapishtim = Noah.

The only way I believe you could have come close to that number would be counting the deaths of the USSR, which pales in comparison to the deaths caused by the Holocaust. The Thirty Years' War had 10 million deaths (2% of the population at the time) and the crusades had about 5 mill. (2% of pop.).

@Fablefiend No, because secular states are not atheist states. They are seperated from the church, but are not atheist. And you obviously have not studied your world history correctly. The holocaust death count is approximately 11 million. Total death count of the USSR is approximately 20 million, PRC approx 65 million and rising, 2 million in Cambodia, 1.5 million in Afghanistan under USSR rule, 1 million in Vietnam, etc etc. The list goes on.

@Whirrednerd Atheism and communism are not the same. Sure, atheism may be a part of the ultimate communist goal, but it is a relatively small part of it. There are atheist anarchists, atheist libertarians, conservative atheists, socialist atheists, liberal atheists, etc. People didn't die under Stalin because of his atheism, but because communism is a broken system. If you want, I could count deaths under every Christian leader, and that number would be way over 100 million.

Science makes claims that can be verified, religion's claims cannot. If we don't continuously point out their ridiculousness it will grow at an even faster rate which will only serve to move us back into the dark ages wherever religion, especially its fundamentalist flavors, is allowed to prosper.

Religion is like all psychological phenomenons. That is how God created us (through evolution, and evolution of religions).
On 20th century lived more people than ever before in history. That was also century where all religions and ideologies (like atheism) secured and build their strongholds, had their "borders" and "colonies". All countries have min. 1% Abrahamics..
