Yes I'm sure in the whole of the UK, there was 1 person watching TFI Friday that night... at the time the most popular programme on British television. Statistically impossible I'm afraid, as the majority of people in 1997 only had 5 channels
It's called irreverent humour, don't believe everything you hear from Chris Evans
my brother once watched tfi friday n then watched it the following week with me and chris evans said ''whoever was watching last week THANKYOU as yyou were the only person watching'' and my brother was like wtf i was watching it!!! lol so i must have been him, hes a very honest kind person my bro so i dont have any reason to disbelieve him
1997 was a pretty seminal year. Albums by the Eels, Prodigy, Verve, Radiohead. Which seem to have stopped time. A good thing for memories. A bad thing for le progress.
@StephenS1974UK I was fearful that the Bay City Rollers and Bros would be the influencing lights for future generations. Thankfully, apart from McFly, that horror has not happened. Yet.
Roll on to a more original future, where every hit song has not been processed to sound like a Radio 1 song.
@angeleft Thanks for your comment. Only taken you 9 months, Bloody hell, I'm fifty next week, I might not be around the next time you respond, in 2035! lol all the best ps Hmmm. Let me guess. The one out of the four you didn't buy was by the Verve? Only a guess. But if it was, Bittersweet Symphony and The Drugs Don't Work were part of the summer of 97 here in the creaking ol' U of K.
Lucky Man and Sonnet are also great. And nowadays you don't need to trash the cash to test the water, man!
@angeleft nooo it was actually the one from the eels,i remember i bought OK computer,the one from the prodigy were there was a track called "smack my bitch up",and urban hymns, till this day the one from the verve is one of my favorites,i remember that it was a great year for electronic music it was around that time that "dig your own hole" came out! i remember that they played the song "rags to rags" on the radio !!!
@killanimalsforfun247 Yes, of course you are right. Super Furry Animals are high up my list too, along with the Eels. Just last weekend Beautiful Freak, Electro-Shock Blues, Fuzzy Logic, Radiator and Guerilla graced my cd player. It was so fine! All the best.
E! love this band... E makes me laugh out loud. when he does the head bop with the drummer there at the end lawls. This songs kicks much ass, thnx for the upload m8

@kirkwallboy Right on.
Thats why the 70s and 80s were shite. Because the 60s happened.
Now we gotta wait till out generations kids grow up to get good music again.
Roll on 2020.

@kirkwallboy Dont forget Super Furry Animals. I don't know why but after listening to Eels I have to listen to some SFA as well.

I hate the way he pauses before saying "sputter out". I'm just waiting for the way he says it on the record and I never hear it.

@tikalal
If you listen at the end (about 2.20), he says "sputter out" like on the record...

Yeah, I wish people could mix properly. Half the time bands on telley seem to be awful just because of the poor mixing.
Also, you're the guy who covers SP songs! Woo!
