Now kill your enemy, those stinking Muslims.

    God save my Queen

  • she had a very nice voice.

  • All of the Love from All of the Various Sis. Janet Mead 'Lord's Prayer ' built up inside me and Caused me Great Creativity from the Lord and I want to share with All. It is on my FightFeces area. I am sorry if that offends but... that is a polite way of saying "darn it America ain't what it used to be" .....

  • Far out man.

  • Great rare clip of this 70's gem. I wonder if it's been aired on VH1 Classic as part of it's "Super Seventies" music hour block?

  • i used to sing this version all the time, i loved it! Praise God!!!

  • 3 people are going to hell...

  • The 70's!!! Everything was possible in that decade! Miss it so much!!

  • In 2004, Sister Janet Mead received the Yamaha Golden Gospel Award in recognition of her services to Australian Christian music at the Australian Gospel Music Awards, she is still a nun in Australia. She has also received numerous other musical and lifetime achievement awards for her musical contributions over the past 40 years and her ability to touch so many people through her incredible music which appeals to a worldwide audience.

  • Ultrabrut1 oughta be ashamed of emself

  • After decades of looking , finally got this song in Youtube .... thank you very much for your job - saw1110.

  • I remember this one from KMPC, the M-O-R station in L.A. (I didn't notice the three-syllable "hal-low-ed" pronunciation until now.)

  • I first heard this song when I was 13yrs. and it really moved me. Brings back nice memories. I wonder what Sister Mead is doing now.

  • Merry Christmas to all...... :)

  • Heard this song when I was about 5 or so. Riding in dads old Ford (something that looked like a Sherman Tank) in the front seat, no seat belts, little kid with full access to the am radio. I thought it was just a cool song....religion had nothing to do with it. Been stuck in my head ever since...glad you posted it. I finally have one less earworm!

  • This brings back memories (happy ones) of my Roman Catholic childhood! We sang this in mass even into the '80s-thanks for uploading-and the memories! :)

  • @faeryquene

I feel the same way! I rremember my catholic school days when this song came out(i was 13...) and how I loved it, and the happy memories of the nuns who tried to guide us in the way of God... another song that touched me at that time when I heard it over the radio was "Day by Day" from Godspell. wonderful song... it was a better time where moral values were more honored than today...

  • i remember this song from when I was a little girl, had a very hard time finding it - Sister Janet's voice is heavenly. Absolutely beautiful - I think the world needs to hear this song a little more often....

  • Hearing and liking this song alot as a kid living in a French province, I didn't know this was the Lord's prayer sung in English. Now knowing it what it is it's even more more beautiful. The beginning sounds alot like it's Japanese and I like it as well. It's perfect. Go Our Father Who Art In Heaven!

  • Sister Janet is wearing a thong.

  • Yes!! I remember this song & hearing it on radio. I'm 49 now & I'm going to share this on Facebook.

  • Get thee to a nunnery....

  • Hot Nuns!

  • Non of the nuns I had in school were cool like sister Mead. They were all nasty, ugly, bitches.

  • Thank God for this and many others that are trying to get us through amist all the violence we see today. Everyone should think back when our biggest problems were passing test in elementary school. If you feel not loved, you're wrong ...God loves you !

  • Speaking as a true atheist, I have to say that this is a very cool song! You can just feel the '70s oozing out of the song :)

  • @jdoucetable I worship mighty Neptune, and still love this song

  • Thank you Sister Janet Mead....

    Ricky A Doyle

  • Is this possibly the very first "video" ever made of what was, essentially, a pop song?

  • @JeffreyWerewindle : Hardly--people had been making short films and attaching them to pop-music recordings off and on since ca. 1960. (Search for "Scopitone" on YouTube and you will turn up lots of early attempts at music video. Most were bad, but first attempts usually have their problems.)

  • My parents have the 45LP for this, I remember singing to it as a kid. I so love this song!

  • @yourblueness0909 haha so do I lol.

  • lol sac =the school

  • Haha! cant believe there is actually a "video" for this song, how bout that! They shouldve made it interesting, and had her run through the sprinklers... nah, just kidding, Im a bit twisted...

  • One of my fondest memories from the 1970's.

  • Is the drummer the only dude in this video?

  • Sister Janet hit #4 in Billboard, 4-13-74. Love her soprano on it. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • I too have been searching for this version. I remember hearing it as a child. Love it! Thank you!

  • That statue is really creepy.

  • I heard this song while listening to itunes radio station of the 70's.When i heard it i thought that they banned this song but it's great to have heard it again after 30 something years ago. Keep on listening and playing this song"The Lord's Prayer" we need it in our everyday lives especially in this world of today.

  • This is so surreal. The lyrics and the music are so mismatched, it almost comes off as satire. But as I watch it, I really don't think that's what they were going for. So very, very strange.

  • The "Jesus Freak" movement helped to make such pop radio songs friendly at the time.

  • LOVE is so very important in our Atheist-ruled Secular Society. What we need is for this courageous Fortress of the One True-Faith to utilize her God-given Talent & to Become the very first Woman President in these times of rampant loss of Faith and loss of so much young talent & energy to God's most Holy & Apostolic Catholic Church & if it weren't against the laws of God ,she could be a fantastic Pope,Perhaps there is a loop-hole in cannon -Law through which She could possibly be a Cardinal?LUV

  • i remember hearing this song when i was 12 years old. never knew(until now)that this song had been made into a music video

  • Can still see the '45 spinnin' around and around. I can also see the plastic "stacker" with C.W. McCall's Convoy on deck next. Great memories.

  • What a BLAST from the past...This was my favorite song when I was a child!

I didnt know they were nuns who sung this....

Wow, Im so glad to have found it! my children will really think this is funny!

I Think its funny, a must remake!

  • THANK YOU !!!

  • Ooh... I had this piece of psychedlic nun-music. Sister Janet is from Australia.

  • Beautiful song.

I still remember it when it first came out

  • Billboard's #86 song of '74. Sister Janet hit #2 AC, #4 pop in Billboard. Anybody know if Sister Janet's still in the ministry? Please let me know. God bless!

  • @DaveWollenberg she seems to be.

Her albums have even been released as CDs.

  • @DaveWollenberg Sister Janet Mead finally lost her virginity to the porn star Lexington Steele in 1997 at age 48.How much longer before you loose your Cherry you 45 year old virgin Harry?God Bless!

  • She made this a really neat song. For me, it has such a reassuring quality about it.

  • When this first came out i was 17 and heard it late one night on the radio. i never forgot this hauntingly beautiful melody. 37 years later I'm teaching this version to a children's choir. i took a shot to see if I could find it and praise the Lord! What a blessing.

  • my mum went to this school :) and sister Janet was her music teacher

  • I was thinking about this song last night even singing it..You know the kids today would probably like this..it might even get them more involved with the church..think of all the other songs they could change to a more upbeat tune...

  • This song version of the Lord's Prayer was very meaningful to me in that it became popular around the same time I was about to have my First Communion.

  • I enjoyed this when I was a kid. This is how I learned the Lord's Prayer. I have told many of my friends about this, including the group I sing with. None seem to remember Sister Janet Mead. (but I do!) All were impressed when I played it on youtube for them to hear.

  • Wow, this makes me so proud to be an SAC Girl!!!

  • I love this song! I remember when she first did this. It's as good now as when it came out 30+ years ago.

  • Oh and by the way, as at September 2010, Sister Janet is alive and well and continuing to enjoy life in Adelaide...... Amazing to some Australians, that there's enjoyment in Adelaide!

  • This is great, reminds me what a wonderful upbringing I had in Adelaide back in the 1970's. Here was sister Janet singing gospel to remind us that Adelaide wasn't all just Masters Apprentices, Cold Chisel, AC/DC and the like. Hi to all in Edwardstown where this was filmed and an old childhood suburb... Now back to the 2000's

  • Sister Mead gave Geraldo Rivera a blowjob back in the early seventies when this song was out according to Rivera's tell all book.He said she gave better head than Bette Midler,Chaka Khan,Cher,Chris Evert and Margaret Trudeau put together

  • Actually Sister Mead's "The Lord's Prayer" actually didn't reach #1 on any chart I'm aware of -- although it did make it into the Top 5 in at least the states in the first few months of 1974 (according to Billboard Magazine). It definitely made 1974 one of the most unique years for pop music.

  • Hard to believe, this song was on the jukebox at an 18 year old beer bar in Kenosha, WI. back in 1974. It was played probably 20 times per night...Ahh, the good ol' Train Station!!!

  • Awesome! My best friend Liz and I would be swinging on the swings at school and singing this song as loud as we could. What memories this brings back! Never thought I would ever hear it again. Thanks.

  • is she still alive

  • @captvoltst yes cap..I googled her! I am glad she is! I love this song by her!

radio-gicoollinks-com have to add a dot where the lines are .

or google gicoollinks radio network ...... :)

I havent heard this song in forever, and never seen the video untill today.

    Made my day complete,

thanks to the person/persons that posted it!

  • I remember when this hit the news in 1973. Man, some Catholics were going completely APE shit over it. They thought it was sacrilegious.

  • @islamstillsucksallah

The Church wasn't happy about it either. It didn't matter if the Church owned a hard rock music station 3XY and 3GL. But they weren't sure about the Nun singing the Lords Prayer. How ever in hindsight i think the church would look back at it now and wonder what all the fuss was about. For them it was good PR. And the important thing everyone remembers the song.

  • @wozvideo You'd think the Church would be happy about something that was getting children interested in their faith and an incentive to learn the Lord's Prayer. Catholics (I am one) can be very peculiar about things like this. I guess this was one of the first so-called "Contemporary Christian" songs to score on the pop charts (along with "Dominique" and "He's Got the Whole World (In His Hands).")

  • @Superbook4Eva I'm guessing you're Catholic.I've heard the younger priests are more flexible about some things. Is this true?

  • @Capcoor I am Catholic but really in name only - I don't agree with everything the church teaches and I certainly don't agree with the Pope. I also wouldn't say the priests are getting more flexible, but the church has relaxed its stance on more contemporary-styled music somewhat. There are some youth-group programs for kids that include Contemporary Christian songs, and in my church choir we have performed works by Michael W. Smith and Twila Paris among others.

  • @Superbook4Eva That's good.So as a whole,the priests-young and old-are sticking to status quo?

  • What a beautiful voice!

  • Man does this bring back memories! Thanks!!!!!!

  • I LOVE THIS BEAUTIFUL SONG !!!

  • @412southwolfestreet So did many Australians as it was a HUGE hit here for quite a long time. I'm not sure where she is from but I presume she's Australian?

  • @time4sleeping Yep she was the Australian singing Nun!

  • I love this version!! My parents had the vinyl record when I was growing up and my sister and I would turn it on and dance to it over and over again!!!

  • I wish Sister Janet makes a public appearance soon...with her original Band Members.

The music would again go Viral (like Susan Boyle's)

Imagine how much money Janet and her crew would raise for her needfull charities. Go Janet Go!!

  • Sister Janet suffered the same 'Attention Overspill' which Susan Boyle was hit with. Only difference, Sr Janet's music went viral,as did Susan's, but Sr Janet achieved her fame long before the Internet was though of!!

  • Sister Janet was my teacher in Second year and I am in this film clip lol

    signed SAC person

  • I have been in Oz since 1970. Must have been too busy working for a living, as I never heard this song until yesterday. (26 May 2010). Love Sister Janet's voice...

I had a Nun friend at Uni....Ire D...n, Sisters of Mercy. She was great fun. Love you Ire, John T

  • I LOVE THIS BEAUTIFUL SONG

  • This song goes off! Have it on high rotation on the iphone, some great tambourine work in the intro!

  • ahahaha funniest song. biggest joke

  • @gtrhrolgnd If you don't like it don't listen to it.

  • WOW!!!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE this song ....this song needs to played on the radio NOW !!!!!

  • The Sister got a lot of flack for recording this as a rock song. But, It's my favorite version

  • sounds wild ....what position ?

  • You are a pig.

  • This song rememebrs many memories to us catholic academy school attenders when we were growing up back in the 60's and 70's.How many pupils looked up at nuns and how many made freinds with so many and many became nuns for that friendship oh well all gone and disappeared.

EL PADRE NUESTRO - VERSION ENGLISH..!!

  • Yes, yes, yes!!!!!!! This is it!!!!!!!!!!! I had been seaching a long time for this sung. I love this version so, so, so, so much better then the (slow) one they do today it's too drawn out for me. Bless you for having the real The Lord's Paryer. May 1000 fold blessing be on you.

  • @28starchild - I know!! Me too !!

My brother and I had the 45 in the early 70's. We played it until it, literally, didn't play anymore! It's so nice to hear it again.

  • @28starchild The real Lords prayer is called The Maxims of Ani The prayer that is said today is a plagiarism -: The God of this earth is the ruler of the horizon The God is for making great his name, devote yourself to the adoration of his name give your God existence , He will do your business His likenesses are upon the earth

Amon is given incense and food offerings daily

maat will judge the true and honest

Guard against the things God abominates

    Preserve me from decay

    cont

  • @28starchild cont

Amon is the king of the horizon

He magnifies whomever magnifies Him Let tomorrow be as today

Ancient Sumer , later found in Judaic txts , it is also interesting that Genasis means The genes of the Goddess Isis or The generation of Isis ( Isis was the mother of the sun God "Amen Ra" )

  • I remember when I first this on the radio in 1973.

  • Thank you, saw1110, for sharing this video with the Youtube community. I personally find the Lords' Prayer put into song just so spiritually refreshing and uplifting. I remember when this song hit the charts so many years ago as I am sure that many others do, and found it to be a great blessing, as well. The video compliments the song beautifully with the Sister and the children singing and playing. It is all quite a great blessing to me. I have rated this video with 5 stars. God bless you!

  • I used to call the radio station and request this when I was a kid. I think its so groovy!

  • Those nuns and catholic girls in uniform. ahhhhhh

  • Thank you so, so much for putting this beautiful video and song on YouTube! It brings back beautiful memories!

  • It's the original video. Very good. When I was a kid I could not remember this prayer .. But after I heard the record It was easy.
