Good practical effective video, and I appreciate the editing too! You are to the point. There is no need for us to how to drill, or push wicks. Shaved a lot of time off the video. Thanks
@xxDarkGregxx When you change the water, you can just add more directly to the reservoir part at the bottom. If you water it from the top, it's gonna be brown because it's gone through the soil.
I Love this. If I can do something for free, I'm on board! Plus I can do this. Thank you so much for explaining this in a way I can understand. Your Ideas get my wheels turning. The bit about the two inches of soil then wrap one wick around then repeat; is the key to dispersing the water.
@CanarsieBK I will have to watch it a couple more times. I'm slow to comprehend some things. It seems as if the plant absorbs the water better if from the bottom than from the top? I watched a few more of your videos. I dig your account so far.
WTF? that's kind of scary

but what If I wanted a 5 day water autonomy?
MrMafibeats 10 months ago
@MrMafibeats Huh?
CanarsieBK 10 months ago
@CanarsieBK If I leave the house for 5 days do I need a bigger bottle, my question is how long will the water go on?
MrMafibeats 10 months ago
@MrMafibeats Depends on the plant and temperatures. Will vary.

What do you do when the newspaper composts completely? Mine is currently starting to compost and it dawned on me that I should ask.
xxDarkGregxx 1 year ago
@xxDarkGregxx Just let it keep going. It'll take a while for it to fully decompose.

Does it matter that my water is brownish and when I change it and add water to the surface, it drips out brown?

should the bottom container be kept full at all times?
corndawgz88 1 year ago
@corndawgz88 You should fill it up when the wick is no longer in contact with the water.

I don't understand what "self-watering" means---what will this do that a plain old pot of soil won't do?
mrmuffpotter 1 year ago
@mrmuffpotter It waters itself through the container on the bottom. I have a video that explains how a self-watering container works.

@mrmuffpotter No worries. It's supposed to be a more natural way for the plants to absorb the water.
