  • wake up people... read the definition of socialism.. it's not communism you ignorant fucks!!!!!!!! socialism.... 1.A political and economic theory of social organization that advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole,

people fear change! but we aren't perfect and nowhere in the constitution does it say the word capitolism!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'll telly you why i love socialism, i believe healthcare is a right, not a privelege for the wealthy. Often those who cannot pay are the most in need, i have no trouble helping others.

  • @cjpendleton1993 Try doing some research on the subject of healthcare. Everyone in America had access to healthcare before the healthcare bill was passed. Wealthy people have no trouble helping others as well, they just don't like to be forced into anything. By the way the top 5% money earners in the U.S. pay 55% of the total personal income taxes collected. 45% of wage earners pay the remaining 45% taxes and 45% pay no tax at all.

  • Socialism??? Isn't that a four letter word in America?

  • Socialism is not inherently opposed to democracy.

  • @fanofthemusic1090 Exactly, but it is to some extent opposed to capitalism, which most idiots equate with democracy. They can't even separate economics from politics.

  • Cheap child labor should be ideal for Republicans' economics.

  • American is no way of any capitalism. The national debts that Wall St cooked onto the country through lobbyist hijacked govt policies can't be hidden to anyone anymore. Republicans are some real communists because they don't advocate infrastructure building through money but through cheap labors that they can manipulated from you.

  • History has proven socialism always erases personal freedoms & hurts the economy. All of the cited US agencies (P.O.) etc listed below are bankrupt or in serious trouble - MORE PROOF!

More? Canada has 15% tax - socialism!

As to the comment on the Canada healthcare system - from personal experience - the person posting and saying they like it is either a liberal trying to make socialism look good, or they have never had a sick day in their lives where they have had to deal with the system.

  • @lbrewer42 hahaha whatever man, been sick, got free help, loved it : D (I am Canadian)

Reaallllyyy? erases personal freedoms and hurts the economy... have you looked at every socialist country in the world? I know plenty of ppl that live in finland, sweden, many other parts of europe and they would disagree to an extent, they love the system that is there to support everyone, and not only the privileged.

  • America is Capitalism and Socialism is not. If you dont like it, get the fck out of the country you commies.

  • I hate it when people juxtapose socialism with democracy and freedom. Whenever I've read socialist literature, they seem to spend most of their time promoting and calling for more democracy and freedom!

  • What a shitty answer to a really good question.

"Un-american" is a blatant cop-out. It's a handy word to whip out when any cookie-cutter redneck/conservative/evangelical type is challenged ideologically. To use the term so lightly only reveals ones limited intelligence to the world.

  • i find it funny that people who radically defend captialism instantly claim that just because the country was founded a certain way means that it should always and forever more remain that way.... kinda risky if you ask me to set a point and never allow change to occur or progress to blossom. Socialism isnt some gestapo waiting to burst in and take you to political prison. Captialism is a good idea but leaders are corrupt and cannot be trusted to make the right choices to benifit all. onlyselvs

  • lol, nothing wrong with socialism many european countries have prospered under it =D - kind of ridiculous to say its Unamerican and against the constitution the American constitution doesn't really have much of a political affiliation and if it did have any it would be liberalism

  • Carol Browner is a friggen commie. nuf said

  • Definitions of political and economic systems:

Communism - a social structure with no classes and property is commonly controlled, as well as a political philosophy and social movement.

Socialism - social/economic doctrine that calls for public ownership or control of property.

Democracy - is a political government either carried out directly by the people

Capitalism - is an economic in which capital, is privately owned.

All systems can be good if ran by good parties. :)

  • The problem with socialism is not that it expands the size of government but that is helps poor people etc

  • Socialism for REpublicrats politicians we pay for it with taxes

    Bankers got it

    Car companies got it

    Military companies get it

State controlled media? we have that also they may not own it but count the amount of Republicrats on the media

  • Socialism.. unamerican? who runs the postal services? the education system? the government. is that not the definition of socialism.. and its been that way for years and nobody has complained.. you dont see us Canadians complaining we LOVE health care!! . Just watch sicko

  • @tige55

    Hey smart pants;

    The post office is bankrupt.

    Our public schools are failing.

You also don't have 300 million people in Canada with thousands of illegals entering the country every day.

  • So why arent there any revolts againts the postal service, or your school system... you dont seem to have that much of a problem with it. And whats wrong with socialism? Its a hell of alot better then pure capitalism where big business has control and they do not have to look for the best interest of the public.

  • Sorry, America wasn't founded with "the best interest of the public" in mind.

It was founded on the ideal that men should be free to discover their god given talent and have government stay the fuck out of the way.

America is the land of equal opportunity, not equal results.

Poverty doesn't even exist in America. It's called relative poverty. Someone at the poverty line in the USA is still sitting pretty compared to the rest of the world.

  • Bet since you seem to believe the government is the end all be all;

-Medicare has cost 10x more than predicted

-Social security will be bankrupt in years

-Amtrak, the governments train company hasn't turned a profit since the day it opened

-Our unfunded liabilities to foreign nations is over 106 TRILLION. Our national debt is over 12 trillion.

Maybe it will take a bloody revolt to finally get a competant government, who knows.

  • I never said the government was the end all be all... its alot better compared to some rich jerks that only care if they can make a dollar. All Capitalist societies claim to have equal oportunity ... when really they create such a gap between the rich and poor that the wealthy has so many more opportunities that its ridiculously unfair.

  • you have a great opportunity to be wealthy in this country. But our idea of wealthy is warped because the people on tv and the athletes. Some of the poorest people in america are the richest in the world. You may night be the next Bill Gates but you can become a nurse and make between 5k and 10k per month with only two years of school. The opportunities are out there you just have to work hard to get them.

  • Please become more educated and USE GOOGLE:

Medicare is expensive because it does not have enough oversight.

Social security had a surplus until 1984 (Ronald reagan was president from 19811989) when republicans began diminishing the funds.

Amtrak..... So what. Its costs are negligable

Your figures on foreign liabilities are wrong.

The 12 trillion dollar debt is 90% due to sending troops to the persian gulf (an estimated 10.5 billion dollars)

A mind is a terrible thing to waist.

  • And any other type of government health care program is going to have adequate oversight?

Why don't you look at the congressional makeup throughout the '80s. Congress controls spending, ass.

The same wars Obama is escalating?

Man you are an idiot. Thank god you are a small fucked up minority in this country, and thank god health care takeover is dead now.

  • THE PRESIDENT SETS THE AGENDA FOR CONGRESS TO FOLLOW..... YOU DONT NEED A MAJORITY FOR THE PRESIDENTS WILL TO BE DONE... LOOK UP TRUMAN, LBG and FRANKLIN ROSEVELT. The list goes on for miles!

And as far as being an idiot. Im pretty damn sure you didn't make it pass highschool/trade school......lol

  • Oh, and meet debt clock.

    UNFUNDED LIABILITIES, ASS.

    NOT FOREIGN.

  • WOW, ass is all you can come up with? Uneducated people always resorts to name calling. I just suggested you do a bit more research/ reading. I did not call you a name. Its free to read. Don't cost a thing..... Trust me.

    I know what congress does:

They control commerce across state lines.

Grants permission to officially Declare war.

Make rules to benefit the well being of the states belonging to the union.

  • socialism is good as long as you keep democracy intact (not to be confused with a republic)

  • people have complained socialism will not the average person wealthier it will make everyone average

  • @tige55 Hate to burst your bubble but in America the postal system and public education have failed miserably. Where as their privatized version have succeeded. EX. UPS,Fedex and all the Ivy league schools are privatized.

  • @tige55 I have to disagree with you on this point. Just become some aspects of a capitalist economy are run by the gov., that doesn't make the economy socialist. What you're talking about is social democracy. Socialism, however, is when the means of production are publically owned, and the economy is formed from cooperation, not competition. This is not the case in our capitalist economy today. "Socialist International" is socail democratic, not socailisist. Other parties, like SP-USA, are soc.

  • @mukmakumkum I was merely responding to the ridiculous statements I have heard many Americans say, to the effect of: Government run health care, thats unamerican, you trying to turn us into some damn socialists? And I was not commenting on the economy, I was just stating how absurd it is to say that socialism is wrong in any sense.

  • @tige55 Of course, here in the US, the Right often accuses government programs being socialist. When a "compromise" health care reform act was created, it ended up keeping the private health insurance system, only now, the government will help people who can't afford it buy private health insurance. Also, there has been a bit of regulation on the private companies, so they're not allowed to deny coverage for some reasons now. Many on the Left strongly dislike this,as it strengthens the insur.cos

  • @tige55 by giving them a bout 30 million new customers, and the left also didlikes this because this reform doesn't have any gov. run program, and the wasteful policies of the for-profit industry continue. It also requires people to by private health insurance. Many on the Right strongly dislike the bill for this reason, and I have heard it called "Socialist" by some, so Socialism ends up meaning "any program involving gov. spending that we don't like"

  • @tige55 On the other hand, I agree with you about single payer healthcare. Just curious, as a canadian, would you say that most Canadins prefer their system to USA? Ithought that was the case, but a parrently I have canadian relative who dislike their "socilist" system. The complain about long waiting times. What do you think about this issue?

  • @mukmakumkum Well I'd imagine every person that does not work for a company that would give them medical coverage loves our system. And are the wait times better in the states? I have never been to an american hospital so I wouldn't know.

But overall I prefer to get something for free then hope that a company I may get to work for has my back.

  • @tige55 As to waiting times here,I'll tell you how it works in Massachusetts. With General Practitioners, you can usually make an appointment on the same day with very little waiting time, Saturdays and Sundays are considered urgent care. The copayment that you have to pay for such an appintment may be around 20USD. Emergency Room care may involve a longer wait If your problem is not too urgent, maybe 2 hours, emergency may cost 100USD or so.

  • @tige55 I beleive that no system will ever be perfect in this regard, there will always be waiting times that could be shorter. However, here in the US, people are often faced with monetary problems that do not exist elsewhere. I personally would prefer a Single Payer system, like in Canada or the UK, but we do not have that here for most people.

  • these people are stupid.

his response to what's wrong with socialism is i "cant believe you asked that questions"

socialism doesn't mean America will turn into communist Russia

capitalism is no saint, it relys on the exploitation of the lower class, but it allows people to get extremely rich which most people think they will become but most wont, thats why a combination of both is probably best

  • Capitalism doesn't exploit the lower class it gives them above average salaries to do simple work. If it exploited the lower class Nike wouldn't be overseas. Liberal programs ruin the lower class because it makes them depend on the system so much they can't get off of it. In America if you're parents are on welfare you qualify for free community college. My sister graduated with c's and d's and got in for free. What America needs to do is fundamentally change the lower classes thinking

  • Definitely not true. Capitalism is a system that cannot be self sustaining if laws are not enacted to keep predators from consuming other entities (becoming monopolies). In order for it to work, the system must maintain a balance. As of right now, the entire system has been de-regulated (financial and agriculture mostly) and we are in the middle of a recession because of it.

  • Duh!

  • yea, communism worked really well in russia, didn't it.

  • soviet russia after lenin and before krushchev(eg stalin) wasnt communist

    was dictatorship..

  • yah, because we we're talking about communism.

communism, socialism, their is a difference.

  • I'm a socialist and find it insulting that some people think that the people's ideolagy isn't even worth their time

  • @TheRedflagflyer agreed

  • Have you noticed that the socialist guy looks like a fat Billy Bragg?

  • Fox news! lololololololol Socialism is obviously brilliant. If the main problem these idiots have with socialism is that it is un-American I agree with them. That's why it is so successful everywhere else in the world. America should stay fascist. The world needs a bad guy.

  • There are many different types of socialism, and only the more extreme, modern forms of communism, are in conflict with having a democracy. What people fail to understand is that socialism is more of an economic form of governance, and that capitalism is just as likely to result in a loss of freedom. Just look at the Bush years, was that American. For anyone who has not read it yet, I would recommend the Iron Heel, by Jack London. It shows the way capitalism can corrode our freedoms.

  • Unbridled capitalism is a far bigger threat to liberty than a little socialism.

  • uh,.... what ???!!

  • This is insane. Nobody said anything about shrinking the fucking economy for the benefit of the environment. We're rich enough to spend a little money to reduce our emissions. Oh BOO-HOO, the big companies won't make as much money. WAAH.

I love how the dude is just like "but this is AMERICA." What a load of shit. There's nothing in the constitution against socialism. A bit of socialism might combat the inequality in this country. How many people do YOU know who don't have health insurance? Hmm?

  • "The big companies won't make as much money."

Actually, the biggest companies in America, got a finger in by the state. Like Microsoft. And believe it or not, socialism makes the big companies bigger. Because it takes out the competition when the state got their finger in the game.

And the health care problem is because of the same issue. It's corporatism. If it was capitalism, the competition between the companies would get the price of health care down, not up.

  • so far you're the only one here thinkin straight Bravo

  • This guy thinks capitalism = democracy!!!!!!! What an dumb bastard!!!!

  • true

  • That fuckin stiff neck oil checker doesnt even know what socialism is, he probably studied for the GRE. What a mommy mother fucker

  • this right wing christian fuck doesnt no shit what he's talking about, shitface propaganda puppet scum,FUCK FOX NEWS!!!

  • Browner is THE ULTIMATE enviro-fascist conspiracy theorist. And Beckel is such a DAMN fascist commie tool! SHUT UP FATHEAD!

  • communism is the oppisate of fascism idiot.

  • Climate change CZAR? WTF! This is outrageous. Is she gonna have as much power for climate change as the idiotic drug czar position is for drugs?
