Wow, I'm surprised your cameras and lenses work at all the way you treat them. The most obvious problem is that your leaving your camera bodies exposed to dust with no lens on, especially lying them with the hole facing up!!!
And the way you just force those lenses into place is just awful! Also, what's with the way you had to put all your force into unscrewing the filter?!?! It shouldn't be screwed on that tight at all!
@herrjonna2007 Don't buy this. Sell some things and buy a Canon 70-200mm f/4.0L USM. You will be totally let down by this lens if you're wanting to do anything more than basic snap shots or daytime photography. It was good when I bought it, and it was a true joy using it when I started out. However, once I began to do more with photography, I found it's list of limitations to be far greater than it's list of possibilities. Maybe look at a Canon or Tamron 75-300mm? Or Tamron 70-300mm?
I almost have an heart attack by the way you handle both camera and lens. First, dust come into body camera, so... maybe you shouldn't do that. And, the way you put it in your legs and just keep talking... camera can fall down! by the way, tanx for the video, I just bought this lense today. I have no great expectations about it, but I wanted to have a a zoom-one to practice before to buy a more expensive lense.

Honestly, 300mm is normally just enough to piss me off. If you need a lot of reach at a relatively inexpensive price, look at a used sigma 170-500mm or 135-400mm.
@qazahmed Its good at a sunny day or with high lights... but its soft in a low-light conditions, but it depends upon how you maximize your lens capabilities...
There are a lot of amateur photographers on here and I think I should point out something about this lens.
It's cheap for a reason, it's not that good. Thing is that you have probably spent a good $1000 on a camera body and then you spend $150 on this lens. The camera is only as good as the glass that you put on the front. All I am saying here is, don't expect fantastic images from it as it is from Sigma's budget range.
You misunderstand me, I meant that this particular lens, the Sigma 70-300mm is classed as a budget lens. I did not say anywhere that Sigma are amateur. If fact certain Sigma lenses in their EX range have been said to be better than Nikon's or Canon's range.
I am a professional and I have a few Sigma EX's and I consider them to be top quality glass.
I suggest that you try the EX range before labelling them amateurish.
Hi, i am a bird watcher in North east England i have recently bought a DSLR camera and am considering buying this lenses would you recommend it for taking photos of birds from a distance?
I had the sigma 70-300mm but I really didn't like it. Optically it was alright, but it had really bad focusing problems. Upgraded to a canon 70-300mm EF f4-5.6 USM IS and I've never been happier.
Was curious to know what you were hoping to demonstrate. As a tip, focus more on the lens you are reviewing - the quality of the image it produces, softness/sharpness at different focal lengths, does the lens have any pronounced negative qualities like chromatic aberration, flare issues, etc. Include sample shots from the lens you are reviewing, and if possible compare with the alternate lenses one could buy. Talk about situations in which this lens is a good buy, and those in which it is not.
So what exactly are you trying to demonstrate in a lens by attaching it to a body and rapid firing the shutter? Then you replace it on a digital body and do the same! What does that tell me about the lens?
Well, first off, they shot in "rapid fire" because my cameras are almost always in that and I probably didn't want to change it. Second, I did this to demonstrate the auto focus speed on a pro 35mm AF SLR compared to a semi-pro DSLR. I'm sorry if you didn't learn anything from my video. Go watch a different one :)
is this lens good for like NBA basketball games?? or would you go with a 70-200mm because it lets in more light? would the 70-300mm be ok for that event or no?
Well, basketball, no matter what league or what complex, requires what I refer to as "fast glass." So, with that being said, a Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 is your best bet coming in at right around $630 as the cheapest and lightest 70-200mm f/2.8 on the market, currently :)
I shoot a lot of basket ball and having a fixed aperture lens at F/4 or F/2.8 works fine it also depends how well your camera operates at high ISO. How ever I would stay away from sigma and tamron if you can afford it. I think that canon lens have very exceptional build quality and I feel like the glass is better.
hi guys im a newbie to dlsr have a 450d so do these cheaper lenses have IS like a canon lenses. im ona tight budget need a good tele lense, flash unit and case thanks any help apprciated oh also a good newbiebook too :)
@rdt1970 Yes, but it is called OS. This stands for Optical Stabilization. I have the Sigma DG OS 70-300mm lens with Canon mount for my Canon EOS 50D camera. It works fine and I would highly recommend Image and Optical Stabilization for a long telephoto zoom lens like this. However, you will pay more for it but is it much cheaper than Canon lenses. The quality of pictures you will get are just about as good if you use the lens properly.
No wonder it's broken after you handle like that... Touching the lens all the time and when you placed it to the camera you like hat the lens to the metal. That lens must be really scratchy...
Let me just say, that you shouldn't make so many assumptions. The ONLY reason why I handle it the way I do, in this video, is because it had been broken at the time for going on six months. Practically 2 months after purchasing the lens, it was already giving my fits. That's fine, though. Just don't make assumptions, please.
i like photography and i got sigma lens 50-500 and i haven't used that mach really but it's great and i know a bit about it .can some one tell me if it's good lens or not with thanks .
Nice job! I have the Sigma 18-50 f/2.8 for my D300 and it's a fantastic lens! So don't let anybody get you down by asking why you would put a Sigma lens on a 40D or any other slams. Their EX lenses are almost as sharp as the Nikkor or Canons and at 1/3 the price. You have a bright future ahead of you in this industry. Looking forward to more reviews.
Hi there, I'd like to buy a nikkor 70-300 but sigma has the same kind of lense and it is cheaper, somebody could give me more information about this lense ?
Hey Guys.....Must remember that the Lens is macro and it is specially made for close up and not portrait. It will work better with your lighting tool and subject view in a more sort of dark environment. You can get bad result too you know it ur using it for like telephoto photography.
well. first he is a yound chap starting out in photography so it is normal his work will get better in time. he will have lost a lot of defenition in youtube to start with, I personaly admire the young chap and wish him well in all his work.
He might be the kind of person who's into photographic gadgetry, and there is no problem with that. Not all people can very quickly grasp photography. Photography has alot to do with experience, so it's best to be patient and keep up with the hobby.
Hi, Is your lens having trouble in focusing? Mine does,If i Go all the way to 300mm, it wont Auto focus anymore. If i point in on a shiny thing, it wont Auto focus.
You did very good Kid, and keep gone you`re an example not only for those people don`t know to much about photograph equipment but also for those people that don`t agree with you.
Just busting man. Unusual to see a young kid playing around with expensive equipment. I'm looking to get the 150-500 Sigma soon. That should complete my Canon 40D kit. What do you think about that lens.
Well, I am 15. I know a TON about interchangable lenses. What do you know? You know how to sterotype teenagers, that's for sure. I know enough t run a business effeciently and turn profits. No offense.
you have a comfortable presence on camera. You should think about shooting these outside as the sun would compensate for the lighting issues that I see in your camera.
hi! i'm thinking of buying a Sigma 70-300 to my Nikon. But this video freakt me out a bit with that noise :P do you think it's common? plz answer :) thank you
Very nice videos and thanks for the reviews. Just one suggestion though, don't take the bottom cap off and handle the lens with your hands.. You can really get them dirty :[ o.o
Wow, I'm surprised your cameras and lenses work at all the way you treat them. The most obvious problem is that your leaving your camera bodies exposed to dust with no lens on, especially lying them with the hole facing up!!!

1) does the lens cap come with the lens?
2) does the front elements rotate while focusing?
3) what's the really BIG difference about the APO model and the non-APO model?
4) does it got AF and IS??
thanx ;)

@Jakob1056687
The first one is a Canon EOS 3000V.
The second one is a Canon EOS 30D.
I assume what you are referring to the framerate. It really doesn't have that much to do with the card, as long as you buy a decent one.
The framerates for these cameras are 1.5 FPS on the 3000V and 5 FPS on the 30D.

Hey Guys.....Must remember that the Lens is macro and it is specially made for close up and not portrait. It will work better with your lighting tool and subject view in a more sort of dark environment. You can get bad result too you know it ur using it for like telephoto photography.

You did very good Kid, and keep gone you`re an example not only for those people don`t know to much about photograph equipment but also for those people that don`t agree with you.
loco039 3 years ago
lol. When people read the "review" they sort of expected something more in depth. -_- And get your information straight before making a "review".

Just busting man. Unusual to see a young kid playing around with expensive equipment. I'm looking to get the 150-500 Sigma soon. That should complete my Canon 40D kit. What do you think about that lens.
kuzy1011 3 years ago
Well, I guess it's a fine lens. Most by Sigma are. I haven't really heard of it though.

Where can i buy that?
fenfites 3 years ago
you have a comfortable presence on camera. You should think about shooting these outside as the sun would compensate for the lighting issues that I see in your camera.

Very nice videos and thanks for the reviews. Just one suggestion though, don't take the bottom cap off and handle the lens with your hands.. You can really get them dirty :[ o.o
