@attherateofarobase Thanks a lot!! You are correct - the magic is in the Q118. And it works great with bass, although you can't really get anything useful out of the Suboctave Mux in low freq ranges, just a whole lotta mud. And the tracking is instantaneous - that's the beauty of analog. There's nothing between you and your sound except a bunch of electrons.
@azzhyle 200 bucks! It was when they were discontinuing the whole line...it was on clearance at Musicians Friend back in 2000. I tried to get the 12-string version as well, but it got gone...ended up buying one from a local music store in 2004...but had to pay 600 for it. Definitely worth it though...they are solidly built, great playing guitars. The hardware is kinda cheap though. My 6-string needs new tuners.
Why can't people find people like you who have REAL talent and be put on the radio, simply amazing, raw material yet to be tampered with. stuff like this is what the radio is getting closer and closer to putting on because the "party" music thats being played daily is getting fairly getting old... I am gonna be sad when the radio ruins every aspect of the music spectrum:(
@demon2645 Thank you. See, I think it's responsibility of people like us who don't get down with mainstream radio to make our own path. The masses aren't going to stop buying/listening/following whatever is force-fed to them. It's going to take creative artists with the business savvy to infiltrate those markets. It's happening slowly...independents are gaining more ground every day. Don't give up hope!
@shawnio that's no lie or exaggeration. Module for module, it's still the least expensive one on the market...and better than most, sound and function-wise, in my opinion. The beauty of it, and in fact the reason I went modular in the first place, is being able to buy it piece by piece. Much more wallet-friendly that way than shelling out $3k for a Moog all at once.
I think I may have found what I'm looking for at 5:15! Can you tell me what kind of synthesizer that was and if it's affordable? I'm trying to make music by mixing aspects of Synth, owl city and Cash Cash, and punk rock, bowling for soup and reliant k.
@Mickwhitefire28 Well, it just kinda depends what your version of affordable is. For me, it took a long time to put together because it wasn't all that affordable. lol. What's making that sequencer-type effect at 5:15 is a MOTM Suboctave - costs about $300. But you'll also need a few other modules to get the sound I'm getting. Send me a direct message, so I won't forget, and I'll give you the details. :)
So for those sounds you start getting at 5:20 what modules do you use and those sounds at 7:50? Thats just too sick, I have the beginnings of a synth.com system and those sounds are exactly what I'm trying to make I'm just not sure which modules to get
@edpoulsen9191 Well, the sequencer-type effects I was getting there : that's a MOTM Suboctave Multiplexer in "Cross" mode. I'm feeding a dotcom oscillator in LFO mode into one input, and the signal from my guitar (via the Instrument Interface module) into the other. Hard to explain with limited characters what's going on, but you can read more on MOTM's site. It works with the dotcom, you just have to use a little converter for the DC power.
Each module is about $200 to $700, depending of course on the module. So like any good piece of synth hardware a complete setup will be a couple thousand.
hi really love's your video it's fucking funny because i play guitar and i have 15 yo but later i want to have a lot of your stock to play and i love's the soud he makes and its really cool
Oh yeah, this was filmed last year in October. I was very sick and on loads of dope. Had to rest up all day just to film this 20 minute segment. Long story. I had a lung condition that kept me down for most of 2008...finally beat it for good around January. Health is a precious thing - one that I don't take for granted anymore!
Hey Moot fantastic sounds here!!!
Just to clarify, is all you need for this setup a guitar or bass, a Q118 and a synth that has a CV/Gate input?
Have you tried it with a bass guitar?
Also, how is the tracking? Am i correct in thinking it tracks much better than Midi pickups?

@mootbooxle Actually, the Doepfer A-100 Basis system 1 and 2 are around 2,400 and 2,500 us dollars.

Home much money do you have poured into your modular?
julieail 1 year ago
@julieail In total, I have about $3000 in it - but it's less now, because I just sold 5 modules...hard economic times right now.
I can say this - it's a good investment. The value of this type of gear doesn't really go down.

I would love to see what could be done with one of those new Moog Guitars and this setup, with it's never ending sustain.

No...they did this on computers cause sampling was not an option during that time cause storage space was very low.
