  • MAKE A BAND PLEASE.. i would buy your cds....

  • type in "Martin and Beau" in the youtube search bar and you will find videos of the guy I play music with. We will release a CD in 2015, hopefully sooner.

  • Hi.

    Love watching these vids.

They are the only zep vids with the sound intact, as their studio vids are either removed, or played with the sound disabled.

  • It's all about the time signatures in Black Dog.

  • I like to listen for the stick clicks. I dont bother counting. Playin by feel ;)

  • i agree with that. I learned the feel of these songs way before I found out what a time signatures was. It sounds dumb, but when you are self taught, you aren't shown certain things.

  • that's totally true. I prefer it that way too. The more theory and techincal stuff you know, the more you want to implement it, and the drumming becomes more techincal, and its not driven by feel whatsoever.

  • what drunheads you use in your drumkit'?

  • if you close your eyes you would swear it was bonzo himself perfect job man

  • drum set sounds unreal

  • You look like a young Kenny Aranoff, dude. You play as well, if not better, than him. JHB 4eva.

  • you're sick...

  • you're awesome and play a ton of Zeppelin, which makes it better. why not try Fool in the Rain?

  • what kit you use in these old videos (the white kit)?

  • It's a Pearl Forum kit from 1998

  • nice drummin man

    but u miss a part there :)

  • thanks! which song did I mess up in? (not that it really matters, since this vid is 2 years old, but i'm just curious!)

  • but you're covers are great

  • you're a good drummer but the thing is you can't be great if you wanna get to be in a serious band playing like covers isn't good to be a great drummer you need to be able to write like unique drum beats and fit them into songs

  • thanks! I totally agree with what you are saying, but... have you watched any of my improv videos?? Check out my newest video, Aug 10th, 2008

  • un saludo desde argentina!

  • dude, have you got a band?? you're awesome!

  • too much kick drum get it right, this beat takes more controll to play less. don't discrace john like that!!

  • your comment is 2 years late.

  • I finally pulled off the triplet riff at the end

    =]]]]]]]]]]]

    i think =]

  • dude i have the same hi hats. the new beats are sweet cymbals dont you agree?

  • Two man Bonham and Ferchaud its before and now! thank you Beau

  • Hello B F many peaple like you answer them OKAY?

  • a lot of these answers are on my main page. people just don't bother to look there, i guess.

  • wat pedal do u use?

  • would you recommend that pearl free floating snare? i assume urs is a 14 x 5 maple. im thinkin of getting one and would like some advice, cheers

  • whats the little ..dick..thing ...there in the picture ..at the bottom

  • it's a drumstick sitting in a drumstick holder. I don't use dildos to play my drums. lol.

  • lolololool

  • i've been playing since 1994. so i think thats around 13-14 years. just doesn't seem that long to me.

  • thanks man! yeah, my cymbal set up in described on my main page, but the set up here varies from the set up I have now.

    in this video:

    6½" Zil-Bel

    18" Rock Crash A Series

    19" Rock Crash A Series

14" New Beat Hi Hats A Series

    20" Medium Ride A Series

    20" Zildjian Z Custom China

22" Heavy Power Ride Z Series

  • no double pedal there at the end of the slow rock beat after the drum roll..... u prob dont no what i mean but its ok im french, other than that it was perfect man good job!

  • do you mean the triplets? because i wasn't using the double pedal, just the single side. what time does this part happen at so I can see what you are talking about. thanks for the comment!

  • i love! 5/5

  • Sick playing. Nice to see someone with good mics.

  • This video makes a case for "Black Dog" as the quintessential rock drumming song -- Jesus, those time changes are hard to handle with swagger. Five stars, Beau!

  • god i know!

    3/4 to 4/4 to 5/4 in just 6 seconds!

  • where is 3/4 and 5/4 at? i don't even know lol.

  • 3/4 is right at the start. just the snare hits. and the 5/4 is abouy the last bar of the 1st riff

  • Those mics are the bomb,I used them one time when recording for a guy and they are perfect, most of the time i dont mount mics on my kit, i use stands, but these are very light weight and dont strain on the head.

  • yeah, they don't even touch the head. they are excellent mics. the only drum mics I have stands for is the SM57 and the crappy mic underneath my snare drum. well, the bass drum and overheads obcviously have stands, too. hehe

  • dude I was thinking the same....if you do get paiste...try and get the 2002 series, hi-hats 2002 mastersound sound edge, something like that.

I was planning on getting the same thing as you

but I just went with avedis, z, and k

  • When people say drumming is easy and all you do is ride eighth notes and hit snare on two and four - Black Dog is the response. It's hard - i'm still working on it.

  • Man i love to watch you drum!! Thats it!! Im getting as set as well!! ;)

  • what hi hats do you use man?

  • these are 14" Zildjian A New Beat Hi hats.

  • awesome i was thinking of getting the quick beat

    thanks anyways

  • i actually play Quick Beats now. i hope that doesn't make your decision anymore confusing. They are both excellent hi hats. I think the new beats are a little heavier though and they really sound good open. and have a good hi hat sound closed.

  • te juro que me voy a casar con vos cuando te conozca

  • i love you dude your amazing at drums i look up to you and your covering ways haha.

  • again, wow. Black dog is a hard song with the timing, but you made it look easy. I have trouble coming in at the right time on guitar, but you just do it like its nothing.

  • i've listened to that song many many times since the 7th grade. I've learned the timing of that song of the years.

  • Great Video!

I love how you make it look so easy.

I need to ask you a few Question (more like 4)

    1. What type Kit are you using?

    2. What was the cost of it?

    3. How much did your Recording Mic,Cords,Computer Programs, and whatever else you use to get great recording.

    4. How long have you been playing?

Sorry For Asking So Manny Questions.

I just love the kits sound and the recording and the why you play.

Well great Vid's Keep On Drummin!

  • 1) Pearl Forum Kit (white drums)

    2) $500 (white drums)

    3) A lot

    4) 13 Years

thanks! if you need to know more, just ask away :)

  • What cymbal is that thaty you hit during the oh yae, oh yay,oh yay, (black dog)

  • well, the first time they do that part, i use a 22" Z Custom Power Heavy Ride. and then the 2nd time they do it, I switched to the 20" Medium Ride... i don't know why I switched, but i did.

  • good video I learned how to play black dog watching this

  • Hey Beau, Do you play your bass drum flat footed?

  • no, i play heel up, but then when i do triplets or fast double bass stuff, my heels are closer to the pedal.

  • For all you viewers that are regular fans of Beau Ferchaud's videos...I have created a Beau Ferchaud appreciation an fan base Face Book Site that is a place for all of his fans to come and hang out.

Just Type Beau Ferchaud Into The Face Book Search Bar And It Will Take You To The Beau Ferchaud Appreciation And Fan Base Group.

  • yea how do u tune your snare

    it sounds really good

  • its snare twice then hi tom, then floor tom then bass drum, then snare2 hi tom, then floor tom then bass drum then snare1

  • That hueni guy plays it well too but you, Beau, sound more like Bonham. Both your kit and your foot. I hope you aren't using a double kick deal. I couldn't tell though I tried. If not, it's pretty amazing. Nice either way.

  • This is not bad but now try this : drummerworld com drummers Bill_Stewart html

  • don't worry, there is no double kick. I have it hooked up, but I don't use it. You will never see my left leg move... and when it is, it's for the hi hat. thanks!

  • Are you using the h/ toe tec?

  • nope.

  • kool! it sounds real nice , the whole kit , and the way you play.

  • Hey I wanted to ask. How do you tune your snare drum??

  • Sweet drumming!!!

U ever try drumming to any rush songs? I would love to c some of those videos

  • u should try playing to how many times on the first album i cant play it but u prolly could

  • heh, yeah i can. I've actually recorded a video of it two or three times and I wasn't happy with it. That's actually one of the songs I want to post next. So, I'll be going through that song soon.

  • on black dog

  • is that a triplet on the kick drum right before you hit the crash everytime

  • yeah, i do it like that because of the live version I've heard so many times. I like doin it that way. The live track from the "how the west was won" is amazing.

  • it was john entwhistle actually

  • fuckin nice snare drum.

  • yeah I did. He said they should name themselves that because they would go over like a lead balloon. He was joking about it. PS. i know who keith moon is... lol.

  • i knew you knew who he was. i put that there for other people reasing. i had to think you knew who he was sense you made a video of his druming

  • yeah, they are still at the top of my list. I don't listen to them a lot, but they are just damn good. I usually listen to the dillinger escape plan, between the buried and me, every time i die, glassjaw, august burns red... that kinda thing

  • yeah this is as dead on to every snare bass tom and cymbal hit i have ever seen for anything.

  • You play as about as close to Bonham as Ive seen. Awesome.

  • thanks man. see hughtherocker, this is what i'm saying. if I did it any other way, it was probably be a disgrace to led zeppelin. which some might think, but I can't play it exactly as he did.. but I can at least try.

  • well the point of these videos is to replicate exactly as john bonham did. so i'm not adding or taking anything from it. I'm trying to play it as he did. I think I do a pretty good job at it, and that might be why people like my zeppelin videos in the first place.

  • im 13, i love drumming, your amazing, but i cant afford half way decent drums or mics. what do sudgesst.

  • Mad props man,I like the way u keep the beats just the way john did em.I been wanting to do something like this but can't get a good recording.Any advise?

  • i think i saw 2 mics on the snare. what are they? you rock

  • the one on top is an SM57, and the one on bottom is some cheap ass mic that somehow got into my mix of mics. it's a dynamic mic though... oh it's called V-Tech. it was probably $40.

  • dude you are amazing i play bass for my band but i learned drums on teh shittiest set imaginably im gettin a better set off my friend in a few weeks but thanks to you i learned livin lovin maid like mine and my guitarist favorit led zeppelin song, which will help my suck ass drummer to learn thanks for everything

  • your videos got me hooked on bonham!

  • are you ever going to make a new video!??!?!?!?

  • damn, i should upload what I got. yeah, check back soon. I have Achilles Last Stand on the way. I did these videos last year! time for a new one.

  • thanks! actually, i use a muffling ring on the batter head and then I have a pillow that just touches the bottem 1/3 of the resonance side. sometimes when I record, i put two pillows in my bass drum. i like the sharp attack sound.

  • Cute when youre singing!

  • u r the best (non famous) drummer i have seen on u tube ever!! u should b playin with the big drummers!

  • thanks!!

  • Beau, have u ever considered applying for that Modern Drummer Undiscovered Talent thing... not sure if they still do it, but send in a vid to them. may be the beginning of a whole new career =)

  • love it beau 4sticks or achilles if u dare

  • learn Four Sticks its pretty hard, it took me a while to learn but it should be a days work of learning by ear for you. youre awesome i consider you an influence in my drumming career

  • Hell Yes !!!

  • this is awesome you should learn some rush that would be really cool

  • very good man good drum

    player

  • oooooo great job once again u should play we're gonna groove

  • Solid pocket, man. You've got the tuning dialed in to sound like the real thing too (esp. the snare, which I know isn't a Supraphonic, but it sounds just like one).

  • dude you should totally get in a band and kick anus, cause you fucking rock the 80's if you were alive back then, led zeppelin is probably gonna haunt your ass for those awesome beats.

  • Good dude! You are steady!

  • what kind of kit and cymbals are using?

  • man you have a sick sound how do you get it and what mics do you use?

  • it's just a part of mixing and mastering. I use sm57, PG81, AT3035's, Beta98 d/s, and Beta52

  • yes, i believe that's how the song is played. lol.

  • i love the snare tom floor bass snare tom floor bass at 4:16 its awesome

  • nice right on the spot

  • good job keep it up give u a big 10

  • Wow, Very impressive! 10/10

  • Great job on the crazy Bonham kicks there towards the end of Black Dog

  • damn!!!! PERFECT

  • GOOD JOB I LIKE IT I GIVE U A 10

  • never heard the first song befor that great job

  • dude, i got no words... you just own it so much! i.. i cant breath...

  • Man you're talented, born to drum it seems, no efford what so ever...loved watching every single second

  • awesome, so cool to see exactly how the bridge groove is played. good freeking stuff man.

  • That was impressive! I especially love you nailed the part at around 4:15, that was freaking awesome man.

  • hey man im sorry i accidently marked your comment as spam, i had a little misclick there, meant nothing by it, and i agree with you, the part at 4:15 was freaking awesome!

  • hehe good stuff. can you play fool in the rain? if so get it posted up pal! haha i'll be getting my video camera for xmas so i will be doing some drumming and posting it up on here. i will let you know when i have done it

  • dude your kit is tuned up to perfection. please tell me how to tune it up perfectly coz i can never get it right! hehe i have a ludwig maple kit just like bonham's haha

  • hheh, i have no idea. i just know how to tune. I don't tune my drums to sound like bonhams. This set was just a pearl forum series. well, the white drums are forum series.

  • if plant/page ever see u they will recruit u...if i ever see u so will i :)

  • That was good. For the love of music, please join a band if you haven't already. :)

  • wot crashes do u use?? brilliant wrk btw

  • 18" Zildjian A Rock Crash

    19" Zildjian A Rock Crash

20" Zildjian A Medium Ride (I use as crash, too)

  • cheers man.. might b investin in sum o those \m/

  • i've had the 20" Zildjian A Medium Ride since 1999. it's amazing.

  • Fool in the rain please. If you haven't done it already. You play AWESOME

  • Wonderfull, I can tell you like to play :D

  • bass sounds out of sync?

  • i know, but there is quite a bit of cymbal work in those songs too. especially in living loving maid

  • Beau, I thoroughly enjoy your playing, especially the tunes you choose to play. How bout some RUSH. Maybe By-tor and the snow dog or...any old Rush. Eh Go leafs Go

  • Do you make a mistake at 1:08? I'm not getting at you by the way.

  • lol noob means ur new or inexperienced (i was jk tho)

  • NOOB!

    *runs away*

    (jk)

  • what is NOOB?

  • Hmm.. the end of black dog's weird.. you're misplacing the triplets and playing too much. I'm timid to post a video of me doing it, though <_< Dicks on youtube.

  • yeah, i tried not to improvise so much, but I usually end up doing it anyway :), it kinda turns into what I'm feeling when i play it. I tried pretty hard not to add in extra fills, but sometimes you just can't fight it.

  • I know what you mean, but I think what you were doing on black dog's solo's a bit... eeeh. Just flat out wrong as far as the triplets. Gotta be honest, mate.

  • hahaha, yeah.

  • Jesus- you've been playing 11 years? I've only been playing a year, but I gotta tell you, I'm not one them kids y'see trying to perform moby dick all out of time. I know what I can and can't do. Just so y'know =).

MAYBE I'll post something... any requests for Zep songs?

  • What kit do you play on?

  • Pearl Forum Series from 1998. My snare drum is a Pearl Free Floating Maple Snare.

  • Cool sound from a wooden snare, although John used to only play using a metal one.

  • yeah i know. I liked how his snare sounds on the live albums. except for the BBC sessions. I'm in love with my snare... well drummer love.

  • I love my snare too. Tama hand-hammered bronze. Always got my res. skin tight as hell.

  • Beau, do you think bonham is the greatest of all time? And if so, why? Who's your favourite. I can't believe how on you are with these classics.

    CC

  • I think Bonham is one of the greatest drummers of all time. He was my main influence when I was younger. I always liked the feel of their songs through his drumming. I think his playing revolutionized drumming and inspired drummers to come. My favorite drummer these days is Chris Pennie. He plays for The Dillinger Escape Plan. He is a very versatile drummer.

  • How about achilles, fool, ten years gone?? LOve to hearthose, maybe in midi format??

  • hehe, i don't know how to do midi.

  • Can you post achilles, fool, and ten years anyway. I have been playing covers for 20 years. You are spot on.

  • I can do achilles and ten years, but fool in the rain has a certain feel to it and I haven't tried learning it.

  • great

  • Beau knows Bonzo! Does Beau know The Lemon Song? or Out On The Tiles? or Candy Store Rock?

  • Amazing just amazing I even played guitar to your drumming. Nice job!

  • another top notch video!

how bout tryin out some of johns odd time sig tunes like out on the tiles or the crunge?!

  • the cymbal above the hi hat? it's an 18" Rock Crash from the Avedis Series.

  • sweet playing, super clean too, whats type of cymbal was that that you used throughout the majority of the first song?

  • what song is that?

  • I play "Living Loving Maid" first and then after that I play "Black Dog"

  • You're amazing. That was kick ass.

  • Yoo kick asss! keep up the good work! try and play Kashmir and The Immagrant Song =] x

  • You got it!
