Dude! I love Unsolved Mysteries. I remember being a kid and getting freaked out every time I watched this. Afraid of crazy killers or dangerous psychics or whatever. And that music, that music...
Fuck me... I'm 25, and haven't seen this show in probably 17-18 years. I must admit, my memory did not serve me quite so well when it came to the theme song, but there is one thing I remembered with perfect clarity: Robert Stack's voice. If you hear his voice at the age of 6, you will NEVER forget it.
I love this show. Two things made this show Truly memorable for me. One. Robert Stack and his impacting voice and Two. The music: Gave and Gives me the creeps after all these years. Excellent!
Oh this was mega, I remember they had one about a bullet that was lodged in a tree for about 50 years and when a guy chopped it down it came loose and shot him!
His voice was soo mysterious. He was SO good at what he did. I miss him!!! Wish he could have lived a little bit longer to make more episodes they were amazing. The theme so catchy!!!
Man, this gives me the creeps! I like this version A LOT better than the new one. This one is sets the mood more than the new one. Plus, Robert Stack is a better host than Dennis..whatever his name is :/
1:19 to 1:36 is the part where i would lock all the doors and make sure all the lights in the house were on. Oh and I would make sure robert stack wasn't in my closet.
In November 1985, a masked intruder broke into the home of Roger Dean in a suburb of Denver and shot Roger to death without reason. In July 1990, Roger's wife and daughter, along with several family members, have recieved threatening phone calls from the murder demanding amounts of money from them or else someone else will lose their life as well. The prime suspect was a man who may have worked for Roger. Despite evidence collected at the crime scene, police have not proceeded against him.
@potzolcalli1 dude holy fuck. i was reading this as this episode just popped on the t.v but its the new unsolved mysteries and its not nearly as creepy.
I miss Robert Stack hosting this show. It isn't the same with Dennis Farina. I used to watch this as a child, it was on at 8pm. I had to go on the other side of my moms chair and sit on the floor... away from the doorway that lead to the dark kitchen (haha). And one day the show just disappeared. A few years ago I spotted it on tv, and saw that Farina was the host. I didnt even know Robert died until I googled him shortly thereafter.
Knew how to use unsloved mysteries and he did the case of the death of the six ks city firefighters the right way so i say put unsloved mysteries back the way it should be with robert stack
When I was a child, still not in school, me and I mom would watch Unsolved Mysteries and Cops every single day. I'm eighteen now and going to be starting college in a little while to get my Criminal Justice degree. Funny how that works out...
Tonight on Unsolved Mysteries, An Autistic Boy is Haunted by a Ghost that appears in the Form of a Giant Mouth. The Boy wants to know Clues about this Ghost, and Where it Came from.
You can find the Ultimate Unsolved Mysteries box set it comes complete with 18 discs I have it its awesome paid like $100 at hastings but its probably much cheaper now
It's a shame that all we can find is youtube clips of this great show when there were over 500 episodes, this show ran longer then The X Files, but the episodes are unwatchable these days.
I'd tuck myself in real tight at my uncle's place, with all the lights out and watch this at, what, 11PM. I hated to be disturbed by my bladder because by then, I would have no intentions of getting out of bed. Too scared.
@mercuri4Lme I still remember the wonderful aroma of my mother's cooking when this show would come on. NY State Cheddar with canned tomatoes and macaroni...mmmm!!
When I surf the channels, I usually stop on whatever channel this show airs on. Real life mysteries are something that I would watch. You know what kind of real life mystery exists? The mystery of the people who think this show's title isn't redundant. Unsolved Mysteries is 100% redundant. Once a mystery is solved, then it isn't a mystery anymore. The problem isn't with the show's title itself, it is with people who think the show's title isn't redundant.
I miss this! The Dennis Farina version is a pale substitute, especially since half the stories are recycled from the earlier and, IMHO, far better show!!
@LJandlion75 lol yeah because nowadays kids your age are used to see this kind of things all the time but when people like me (I'm 19) were your age this show was damn scary, old times, you wouldn't understand it, you're in the Justin Bieber Generation lmfao
@skulasticsee Heh im over 30 and used to watch these as a 16 year old... and my spine still tingles when I think about the theme tune to this program... one of the most emotive pieces of music ive ever heard.

One of the best shows of its kind. Didnt realise it was still running still...
I like Robert Stack's mysterious voice which draws you into the world of Unsolved Mysteries. No one could ever take his place. Screw that crappy remake. What were they thinking; no one could ever top the original classic so don't even bother making new episodes because they SUCK!
Please, someone bring this show back. The original show with the original music. Keep everything like it was except bring us new cases. Bill Kurtis would be great as a narrator (since Stack is long dead).

I don't know why but the old unsolved mysteries was more scary to watch at night, the new version is not really even all that scary to me now i could watch it at night and not be afraid haha.
@TheRealestFemale100 it's all about the music combined with Stack's voice: the composers did an AWESOME job of making unsettling, creepy music (the opening and closing music, the music in the segments) that seems to create some sort of uneasiness and fear in the viewer
This show was a classic! Nobody could touch the way that the scary music, Robert Stack's voice, and the general feel of this show made you really get into it. I was in high school when this show was on, and I was sometimes afraid to be home alone watching it! and I'm a guy :)
Dennis Farina is a pretty good actor, and i give mad respect to his work he also was actually a Chicago cop for years before acting......i love Bob Stack simply a legend, but is it me or would Host of American Justice and Cold Case Files Bill Kurtis have been a better replacement voice wise for R.S!
It's nice that "Unsolved Mysteries" has been revived. But (very sadly) without the late Robert Stack as host, it's lost that omnious feel. I agree with the other reviewers: watching Stack in a trenchcoat in front of some dark shadowy locale introducing each episode gave this show its dark appeal. The show's original ending theme is also very good.
I don't understand why they needed to change the original stories. Dennis Farina should only be included in new stories and updates that happened after Robert Stack's death. They should have gotten a classic actor to replace Bob Stack. Maybe a Gene Hackman type or that Silence of the Lambs guy. Dennis Farina looks dopey when he talks about a story. Robert Stack had that cool I'm in control and here to educate you feel. Seth MacFarlane doing Stewie as a narrator would be better than Farina
I miss seeing Robert Stack and the original theme song. Dennis Farina seems like an all right guy, but he doesn't fit this part. Also, the horrible music and terrible annoying special effects are such a god damn distraction. It almost feels as if they hired a 9 year old to do the theme and stupid special effects to make it cool for a 9 year old. I don't know how much longer I can watch this new and downgraded version. So sad.
I totally agree with TheSleepingSage, Dennis Farina is a dick I couldn't even watch 5 minutes of the new ones. This is one of the best shows of all time, along with American Justice, Cold Case Files, and City Confidential.
Robert Stack had that uncanny way of making the theme song all the much creepier. This was the "scariest" show I watched. The theme still freaks me out.
dude, i liked this guy a lot better! the new guy sucks! and they re edited the episodes, so the stories are presented differently now, and they're all weird! why couldnt they just do reruns of the old ones? the ones with robert stack were way better! the stories, especially the paranormal ones where the only reason i watched this show. those were always my favorite! but now they're presented all weird! i hate the new ones! just do reruns of old ones, and do new ones with dennis farina.
The great thing about unsolved mysteries is that their reenactments are so cheezy and fake. I love how they made fun of themselves in basketball. R.I.P. Robert Stack.
I used to watch this as a kid. And that music scared the shit outta me.. Let alone the host, and just the show in general. I wouldnt be able to sleep at night lol
just from watching this fuckin intro ruined my whole night. Now im gonna think aliens and ghost are after me. I been looking behind me the whole time watching this video. I hate the narration guy and the music hahaha. shit is to scary.
I watched one episode of this show where a kid left an open soda can on a parkbench. Some wasps flew into the can and he drank it and the wasps started stinging the kid from inside his head. His eyes ballooned up and turned white.
Never watched the show again. I was 5. Traumatizes me still to this day.
Well, unless the mystery was something dealing with where the wasps came from, I'm positive there was never an Unsolved Mysteries segment dealing with something like that.
Yeah I always wondered why this show stopped playing :( I watched it from when I was 5 till it stopped playing when I was 8 and I caught it EVERY time it came on. Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction was another favorite of mine
I remember watching the reruns on lifetime and they shortened the introduction, and that was creepy enough, and every once in a while, they would throw in an episode with the whole intro into the lineup...and it would catch me by surprise everytime...scared me to death too haha
No offense to Denny Farina and what the producers of the new Unsolved Mysteries are doing now, but the Stack Era was simply untouchable. The music, the ominous narration, Stack wearing that trench-coat and standing in the smoky shadows; it was like a real-life horror movie! Unsolved Mysetries now has too much distracting MTV-style editing and non-stop music that drowns out what's happening on-screen. Totally takes away from the understated brilliance of what you see in this video.
@DoubleTalkingJive ... maybe the producers feel this format is indeed "untouchable"... and because of this they have moved on??? (I would hire another Stack actor if I was the producer)
The original theme song was the best

I totally agree with TheSleepingSage, Dennis Farina is a dick I couldn't even watch 5 minutes of the new ones. This is one of the best shows of all time, along with American Justice, Cold Case Files, and City Confidential.

Does Unsolved Mysteries still come on???????????? If so when. I miss this show, and would love to check it out. RIP Robert Stack.

Is it just me or is that guy from those Geico commercials imitating Robert Stack?

I watched one episode of this show where a kid left an open soda can on a parkbench. Some wasps flew into the can and he drank it and the wasps started stinging the kid from inside his head. His eyes ballooned up and turned white.
Never watched the show again. I was 5. Traumatizes me still to this day.

@CordMontgomery stop talking shit and don't even sound an unsolved mystery anyway.

@CordMontgomery
Are you sure that's an Unsolved Mysteries segment? It sounds more like something you'd see on Rescue 9-1-1 or the X-Files.
DorvellTStewart 1 year ago
I'm positive.

@CordMontgomery
Well, unless the mystery was something dealing with where the wasps came from, I'm positive there was never an Unsolved Mysteries segment dealing with something like that.

DoubleTalkingJive 1 year ago 54
@DoubleTalkingJive ... maybe the producers feel this format is indeed "untouchable"... and because of this they have moved on??? (I would hire another Stack actor if I was the producer)
