perez and the other talented cuban living in cork luis garcia are both fighting on the 30th of decembr in america on the jermain taylor vs dirrell undercard
@okonla24 no mate luis garcia is fighting at light heavyweight against and undefeatd american first fight live on the night watch him hes amazing and mike perez is fighting a ten rounder against a guy who has went 12 rounds with povetkin and chris arreola
@EmeraldIsleStar Man, Im not trying to discredit you or Ireland but boxing isnt a thing Irish people should bragg about. Cubans are by far better fighters than Irish and we can easily prove that. Btw, I knew the whole sports thing in Cuba but thats not their fault, thats Castro's fault.
@frostygaz "i think emeraldislestar is probably still sore about what rigondeaux did to willie casey."
Casey had a horrible amateur record, he was just a gypsy fighter, all toughness, no style or finesse or background.
Dunne/Cordoba/Rigondeaux.
fights worth watching back to back before you discredit Irish boxers, and Dunne is notorious for having a bad chin, unlike most irish fighter, yet he still outroughed cordoba
lol come train in a few high quality gyms and say that, Ireland has one of the highest ranked amateur programmes IN THE WORLD. fucking john duddy beat andre ward in the amateurs, brian magee schooled lacy, eamonn magee struck fear into the hearts of many fighters, Andy Lee was an amazing amateur, Wayne Mccullough madeMorales awe-struck at his toughnessand that's just a few decent modern Irish fighters
@ThePowerV3 Amateur is one thing and PRO is another. John Duddy for example shouldn't been mentioned in the same sentence next to Ward, is that simple. All those guys you mentioned could have been excellent amateurs but NONE made it BIG as a PROFESSIONAL.
@Obamaownswhitesnow Oisin Fagan would have outpointed Chavez Jr if he hadnt been floored, outworked Spadafora, and only lost to Khan so quickly because he literally snapped his ankle on the first knockdown, and this was a guy on a football scholarship from Ireland who had 3 amateur fights and decided to turn pro for some cash.
@Obamaownswhitesnow "Cubans are by far better fighters than Irish and we can easily prove that."
So you have good jabs and great boxing fundamentals..the Irish are more notorious for their ring battles than the Cubans will ever be, and when you turn pro, you turn FAT. Irish Mickey Ward, I'm still waiting on a film being made about "Cuban Pedro Montarez" renowned for being one of the toughest bastards to ever lace up gloves lol
@Obamaownswhitesnow The thing is, very few of our guys actually stick to it..hell most of our young talented boxers ended up as paramilitary members.. have you ever watched "The Boxer"? (Yes, its called that) Daniel Day Lewis, about a boxer in the North just getting out of jail
i would like to see him fight derek chisora, then maybe move onto some bigger heavyweights, like price or fury....maybe even the klitschko's, he looks like he could some bigger fighters under a lot of pressure
Latino power!!! Mike Perez aint Irish, he is from CUBA! Latinos representing boxing all over the place! Tye Fields is such a waste of meat. He should be shredded and use his meat to feed the lions.
@Obamaownswhitesnow Er - No we don't. Why does he live in Ireland and not Cuba? That was his own decision. Andy Lee is one of the top middleweights in the world, as is Matthew Macklin. Both Irish. So shut the fuck up.
@SeanOBriain Man, Ireland has nothing to do in boxing and both of us know this. Im not Cuban but Im talking about facts. Ireland cant compare to Cuba in boxing.
kinda like saying "why does macklin live in england and lee live in the usa?!".
people move all over to go where they think circumstances will suit their personal desires best. i've spent a lot of time in cuba but never been to ireland, doesn't mean cuba's "better" than ireland.
macklin and lee obviosuly don't think ireland is the best place for them and perez does think ireland is the best place for him. he did actually spend time in newcastle, england before deciding that though.
