(my comment part 3): I have tried several, and many work equally well with perhaps less environmental negatives. Great video! A handy and useful tip to help people save money (especially in these bad economic times.) We need all the cents we can get! LOL!
(my comment part 2): However, I cannot find any written info on the metal, and probably no one wants to discuss past practices pertaining to lead and lead compounds. You could use a tube key and remove all of the contents up to the cap area. Today’s plastic tubes are a greater challenge to empty completely. I use another object to force the contents to the top, until about 1% remains in the top where the cap joins the tube. There many alternatives in the modern marketing idea of toothpaste.
(my comment part 1) (This is a very long comment so I had to break it into parts to fit it all): I prefer the large size tubes, as the ratio of contents to packaging is greater. I really dislike the so-called “travel size” tubes because of their wastefulness, and the standup style tubes are even more wasteful because of their packaging design.Metal tubes preceded today’s plastic tubes. The metal appeared to be lead and rolled nicely flat and stayed flat.
