@Dr666Love Yeah, but you know what I mean though. This was amazing and I can't find another life performance of it. Just makes the album version seem mute.
heh...I've thought you were dissapointed about his abilities of live perfomance. Personally I think he's not such a great musician, but he's got something more than just technique, for example what a great man he is. =D That's a point! Because he demonstrates what kinda sense of humour he's got, playing music, while other artists show their bodies(in details), playing music..._))))
I luhv his beard when i first heard this song, i never imagined he had a beard, but when i saw it, i was like oh my god, another thing to luhv about this guy<33
i was driving home from a trip... it was sunset... i was at the highway driving next to some wheat's field with the sunset on my left... and listening this song... can't describe the feeling...
@mikailpa I used to drive home from my girlfriends house every night with fields all around me, and I'd roll the windows down and listen to the crickets with this cd. Sam Beam writes some of the most nostalgic and eclectic music I have heard to date. Makes me smile when I hear this cd.
so i'm using my girlfriend's account to comment on this:
sam beam isn't just an amazing songwriter and musician but also an incredible person. its so obvious in his live appearances that in real life he's just as sweet, funny, and humble as his beautiful lyrics make him out to be. he's our generations greatest troubador, just like bob dylan was our fathers'
Haha, he did this when i saw him at union chapel last week. He just mumbled '...soomething' instead of the lyrics and gave us this cheeky apologetic smile. Then at the end he said 'I don't practice much'. :)
wow, he takes his forgotten lyrics with such humor..he didn't get all freaked out about it. :) honestly prefer his live songs to recordings. :) love his music
I have to say that i have been having a hard time lately and this man, more specifically this series of videos, has made me forget about all these things...if even for just a little while. It's these small moments of true happiness that define life.
@beckysaidso : It was actually right before Sodom South Georgia. =) I was at this show too and it was better than amazing. Search Iron and Wine Freebird on here and you can see it for yourself. You clearly have taste in music!
hahaha i think he was just kidding.. yeeah i agree with all of you HE'S AMAZING HE HAS A GRAT VOICE AND PLAYS THE GUITAR PERFECTLY.. he deserves the best on his career
You cannot compare live and studio version...in a studio people have endless opportunities to cut, edit and repeat the material but the live version is very much pretty different...this is a very nice version and there is no doubt at that... Cheers!
Isn't he using other chords different from the recorded version?

another amazing sam beam moment, I was at his concert about a year ago, at terminal 5, and someone yelled "freebird!"
and he goes "you get what you ask for bitches!!" and started playing it, right in the middle of his song.
god damnit i love him so much.
