I do hate cleaning up from the saw it shoots brass a mile and links all over, the 240 just makes a nice pile. And you are right it can shoot really fast but if you can't hit anything then you might as well give up. The MG42 is at 1,200 and 1,500 rpm(rounds per min) and the SAW can shoot 1000 RPM. And a PKC between 650 and 900 PRM i have that shot at me a few times and it sucks..lol

U fired 3 cans through = 600rds ? we had to change the barrel on the 74 after 250 rds

You go to AIT, Advanced Individual Training. Thats were you are trained in your MOS, i.e. tanker learns to become a tanker. After that its your first duty station.
So what if your an airbourne soldier? Would you go to Airbourne school? And also would you get to go back home any time after boot camp graduation to see your family and friends again before you go to AIT or deploy? And by the way, thanks for answering my question. I really appreciate it !
If you go airborne you go to Jump School after AIT. And yes after AIT you can use you accumulated leave to go home to visit your family but it wont be much. Actually there is a program were you go home for 2 weeks to help your recruiter and it dosnt count against your leave but it is hard to get accepted for it. Also save your money during Basic if you want your family to come for graduation, you might have to but there plane tickets.

really hate to say this, especially as I am a prior service member but Marines really are nothing more then those foolish enough to be used as cannon fodder, if your looking for a carreer, at least Army gives you some options to what you will be doing. Go Navy or Airforce for the hightech fields. Not to say that Army and Marines don't have those specialty fields/carreers but the attitude for Army and Marines is more gungho, verses education oriented. Marines clear, Army holds.

all right dangit was that a modified barrel ie a shortened barrel on a M249 Squad Automatic Weapon? ie M249 SAW. sorry but well barrel looks shorter then I remember from 89-93. just to let you know the SAW is one wicked kickass machinegun. oh and for those wondering the M249 SAW is a miniature version of the M60, fires 200 rnd belt of 5.56n rather then the 7.62n that the 60 uses. lol also fires 3 times faster then a 60. that barrel should of been glowing red hot had this video been made at night. I know lol done it many a times.
I believe he was firing the para-trooper model of the M249, it has a collapsible stock similar to the M4, and the shorter barrel, which, like scout said, makes it superior in room clearing procedures. Im the gunner in my fire team, and the SAW I lug around is the full size one, so I immediately could tell the one in this video is not a standard one.
I understand, its just been many years since I also lugged a SAW around. Honestly the M249 SAW is a sweet weapon. Not as technically accurate as a M16, but rate of fire more then makes up for loss of accuracy. Also skill of the shooter easily makes up for any deficiency in the weapon. Meaning if you know what your doing and have trained with it enough your wickedly dangerous. Honestly think that training really does make a difference. Hope you love it as much as i did.
Haha yeah it is a sweet weapon platform, just gotta be careful when using M16 mags in it, if you dont apply a little backwards pressure to it, it'll jam like every 3rd round. The things a broadsword, not a scalpel, so yeah, the accuracy isnt as good as the M16/M4 series rifles, but it wasnt designed as a sharpshooter weapon, just to put the highest volume of rounds downrange as possible, lol
well now skill I think matters tons. i know when doing platoon live fire, on 1000M ranges, the 800m and 1000M dbl sillowettes that were meant for the 60's had nothing to shoot at, because i kept taking them down first. I was wicked accurate with a SAW, and really hate people thinking it isn't accurate. by tech standards its not, but by user skill is way more deadly. An extremely effective wicked weapon as long as you know what your doing and treat it right, maintenance is a must.
whoa, whoa, never said skill doesnt matter. its a proven fact, a saw isnt as accurate as an m4/m16, its just the nature of the weapons. there isnt even a small aperture sight on the saw, only a large one, that should be an indicator. you guys were shooting at targets 800 and 1000m away? the MAXIMUM effective range of the weapon is 1000m, if you are engaging targets that far or a couple hundred meters shy of that, you must be in a world of crap.

I did purely as a challenge, 1st shot honestly pure luck in my opinion but still made jaws drop. Noone thought I could do it. got lucky.

It's not so much tooting my own horn, it's just that I did have ample opportunities to train repetitively. 4 years of service and you'll know as well. I have no idea how often you train, or all the different weapons systems you have been trained on, I do however know what i was trained on, and how I can shoot.

well it really depends on what you like to do. being a scout is alot of fun but it's not easy and you work hard don't sleep a lot and work in small teams so if your scared of getting killed it's not for you. if you like to sneak around and blow shit up you will love this job

You go to AIT, Advanced Individual Training. Thats were you are trained in your MOS, i.e. tanker learns to become a tanker. After that its your first duty station.

If you go airborne you go to Jump School after AIT. And yes after AIT you can use you accumulated leave to go home to visit your family but it wont be much. Actually there is a program were you go home for 2 weeks to help your recruiter and it dosnt count against your leave but it is hard to get accepted for it. Also save your money during Basic if you want your family to come for graduation, you might have to but there plane tickets.

I believe it's because it's classified as an area weapon, when engaged by the enemy, the purpose of this weapon is to suppress the enemy, keep him at bay while allowing you to either engage or bug out, it allows you to provide cover while your troops are moving around.

really hate to say this, especially as I am a prior service member but Marines really are nothing more then those foolish enough to be used as cannon fodder, if your looking for a carreer, at least Army gives you some options to what you will be doing. Go Navy or Airforce for the hightech fields. Not to say that Army and Marines don't have those specialty fields/carreers but the attitude for Army and Marines is more gungho, verses education oriented. Marines clear, Army holds.

all right dangit was that a modified barrel ie a shortened barrel on a M249 Squad Automatic Weapon? ie M249 SAW. sorry but well barrel looks shorter then I remember from 89-93. just to let you know the SAW is one wicked kickass machinegun. oh and for those wondering the M249 SAW is a miniature version of the M60, fires 200 rnd belt of 5.56n rather then the 7.62n that the 60 uses. lol also fires 3 times faster then a 60. that barrel should of been glowing red hot had this video been made at night. I know lol done it many a times.

I believe he was firing the para-trooper model of the M249, it has a collapsible stock similar to the M4, and the shorter barrel, which, like scout said, makes it superior in room clearing procedures. Im the gunner in my fire team, and the SAW I lug around is the full size one, so I immediately could tell the one in this video is not a standard one.

I understand, its just been many years since I also lugged a SAW around. Honestly the M249 SAW is a sweet weapon. Not as technically accurate as a M16, but rate of fire more then makes up for loss of accuracy. Also skill of the shooter easily makes up for any deficiency in the weapon. Meaning if you know what your doing and have trained with it enough your wickedly dangerous. Honestly think that training really does make a difference. Hope you love it as much as i did.

Haha yeah it is a sweet weapon platform, just gotta be careful when using M16 mags in it, if you dont apply a little backwards pressure to it, it'll jam like every 3rd round. The things a broadsword, not a scalpel, so yeah, the accuracy isnt as good as the M16/M4 series rifles, but it wasnt designed as a sharpshooter weapon, just to put the highest volume of rounds downrange as possible, lol

well now skill I think matters tons. i know when doing platoon live fire, on 1000M ranges, the 800m and 1000M dbl sillowettes that were meant for the 60's had nothing to shoot at, because i kept taking them down first. I was wicked accurate with a SAW, and really hate people thinking it isn't accurate. by tech standards its not, but by user skill is way more deadly. An extremely effective wicked weapon as long as you know what your doing and treat it right, maintenance is a must.

whoa, whoa, never said skill doesnt matter. its a proven fact, a saw isnt as accurate as an m4/m16, its just the nature of the weapons. there isnt even a small aperture sight on the saw, only a large one, that should be an indicator. you guys were shooting at targets 800 and 1000m away? the MAXIMUM effective range of the weapon is 1000m, if you are engaging targets that far or a couple hundred meters shy of that, you must be in a world of crap.

can you explain the world of crap? seriously I got a lot of flack for dropping dbl sillouette pop-up targets that were meant for our 60's. Wildflecken W.Gernany, I loved doing crap like that. If there was a target up I would drop it. All it takes is a whole hell of alot of practice. Which I had plenty of. can you drop a M203 round through a window at 400M? I did purely as a challenge, 1st shot honestly pure luck in my opinion but still made jaws drop. Noone thought I could do it. got lucky.

thanks, just saying that you can do a great deal that isn't mentioned if you know and have the experience to do so. When it comes to shooting i could do amazing things. It's not so much tooting my own horn, it's just that I did have ample opportunities to train repetitively. 4 years of service and you'll know as well. I have no idea how often you train, or all the different weapons systems you have been trained on, I do however know what i was trained on, and how I can shoot.
