Why tap into the emergency reserves. The reserves in Cushing, Oklahoma, which Wall Street use to price oil based on the supply there, are almost completely full.

It's all overboard speculation and I hope that the lower demand and higher supplies will cause these investors (who are the ones driving up the price) to lose alot of money.

There is no way we could find enough oil to even last us another 40 years. Look at the growth rate of oil usage and use that to find the doubling rate. If we found more oil than we have found TOTAL, in the entire history of drilling, we would run out of oil in 10 YEARS with a growth rate of 7%. It's a misleading article. For example, the first example they list is oil shale. You know what oil shale is? It's a rock. You have to spend all sorts of money to extract the oil from the rock. Furthermore, they have a much larger supply of oil shale in Canada, which I believe they're already extracting.
