If any of you knew anything, you'd know that Metalcore is a fusion genre and thus falling both under Metal and Hardcore. What's more prevalent in a band's sound depends entirely on the band. Some Metalcore/Deathcore bands lean more towards the Metal aspect while others lean more towards the Hardcore aspect. Still, it's pretty hard to fucking say that a band like All Shall Perish or Darkest Hour isn't Metal.

This might be a stupid question but everytime I hear black metal it sounds so different. Can somebody tell me how to tell if its black or death metal? Most other metal subgenres are quite good to seperate, but these two I can't seem to place correctly. =X
Well if you play guitar or if you know what is tremolo picking than you shell separate them easily :) Well in black metal they often employ fast tempos, fast alternate picking almost in entire song and the Drums hit nonstop double-kick on the bass drum. O yeah, and vocals at black metal are more like ''shrieked'' more like screaming if i can say so but not like metalcore!! Sounds different darker than death metal or metalcore, death metal use mostly growl. i hope this helps :)

Metalcore contains more hardcore elements than it does metal elements, therefore making it NOT fall under the category of metal.
It's like saying Deathcore is metal. It just simply isn't because it has much more influence from hardcore than it does metal.

If any of you knew anything, you'd know that Metalcore is a fusion genre and thus falling both under Metal and Hardcore. What's more prevalent in a band's sound depends entirely on the band. Some Metalcore/Deathcore bands lean more towards the Metal aspect while others lean more towards the Hardcore aspect. Still, it's pretty hard to fucking say that a band like All Shall Perish or Darkest Hour isn't Metal.

This might be a stupid question but everytime I hear black metal it sounds so different. Can somebody tell me how to tell if its black or death metal? Most other metal subgenres are quite good to seperate, but these two I can't seem to place correctly. =X

Well if you play guitar or if you know what is tremolo picking than you shell separate them easily :) Well in black metal they often employ fast tempos, fast alternate picking almost in entire song and the Drums hit nonstop double-kick on the bass drum. O yeah, and vocals at black metal are more like ''shrieked'' more like screaming if i can say so but not like metalcore!! Sounds different darker than death metal or metalcore, death metal use mostly growl. i hope this helps :)
