  • I just love listening to her interview - she is so intelligent and thoughtful. I enjoy hearing someone who genuinely enjoys immersing herself in various techniques discuss what they've learned. Had she not gone into music (thank the good lord above that she did), i think she would have been an incredible teacher/professor in another field that interested her. she speaks like a scholar. LOVE HER.

  • Reme Fleming is an incomparable singer, but this Greenwich Village coffee house voice she uses on this album is so sadly frustrating to listen to because it is in every way inferior to what she is capable of, not only in range but also in artistic expression. She of all people doesn't need to humble herself this way!

  • ohhhh goodness....I love this woman, she sings beautifully....BUT she really does not suit this music...its not original or stylistic...i think after 30 years of singing one way, its tooo difficult to untrain those muscles....either way, she recorded everything in the opera world...she must be getting bored!!!!!

  • I have been in love with Fleming's lower register ever since I first heard her in "Oh mio cor" from Handel's Alcina more than 10 years. It is of extreme beauty as is the rest of her miraculous voice but its very existence makes her voice totally unique.

Her ability to take-off the operatic sound/placement from her voice is also unique. I dont know anyone else who could do that besides Lucia Popp I think.

    The mysterious instrument :)

  • it's nice to hear her contralto low register more in some of this indy/rock music

  • They forgot to mention her desert!

  • The best part is seeing the joy in Renee's eyes when she's with her daughters and her students. She's an amazing woman. The album was a big risk but I enjoy it a lot. This has been a good year for Renee Fleming.

  • If chocolate could sing it would sound like Renée's new album :)

  • @choirfreak26 Haha! People always describe her voice as "luscious" or "creamy..." so true! I'm convinced that her parents weren't human. Seriously, her parents HAD to have been a chocolate bar and a can of coffee mate.

  • Absolutely one of the best discs I own. Renee has an amazing voice both on the opera side of music as well as on this side and I hope she considers doing another album such as this in the future.

  • @LDC454 Agreed! Have you ever listened to her jazz album Haunted Heart? A lot of people don't like it, but I do. (Then again, a lot of people hate Dark Hope and I love it!) I can send it to you if you don't...always happy to help out a fellow Renée fan!

"We'll see! No risk, no gaaaain!" Haha :) I'm especially in love with "Intervention" which I think is such a good track! She really does have a gorgeous sounding lower register.

And seriously...51? She definitely DOES NOT look it.

  • @streepology I haven't gotten her Haunted Heart CD yet but I plan on it.

  • @LDC454 Let me know if you'd like me to send it to you.

  • The new disc is great, and this is a really nice interview, shame it did not last a bit longer. Still love the Mozart best though and a shame no Thais clips shown. Nice looking daughters too.

  • Renee Fleming absolutely DOES rock!!

  • "renowed for singing Mozart and Strauss"- awesome, Im glad they got that right! this is a great profile, well put together, not overdone or tacky, just right :) although there are better clips of her singing Mozart and Strauss which they could have showed lol
