  • Ahhhhh should've listened to this before I played this piece for solo and ensembleD:. I totally butchered the piece><. Shame on meh:(

  • another thing that's just superb about this is the way the opening intro and intermittant harpsichord rifs are a magnificent sparkeling world of their own, separate, but at the same time in an intimate way with the flute line. (of course Johann Sebastian was roundly criticized for this - for writing out all those fantastic keyboard accompaniments rather than the standard figured bass....).

  • aaaaaahh! this is Bach the way Bach really should sound, the way Bach intended it. - no tricked up modified junk, just pure, gorgeous Bach. the Harpsichord is in tune, the tempo is right, even the acoustics -- pure joy. may thanks to the producers, the performers and most of all to Johann Sebastian!

  • im playing this for my solo this year (im a freshman) he is my idol of all time!!!

  • is the c natural at 2:32 a mistake? on my music it's a c flat.

  • beautiful sound, but nothing really sticks out as amazing. He just plays the music, doesn't really personalize it.

  • @mydawgsbeast81 Bach doesn't need cosmetics.

  • The siciliana is so unsatisfactory... :-(

One of the most beautiful peaces for flute and no emotion.

  • Very gooooooooooooood >>> Pahud..... is perfect

  • I like most of his interpretations, but I think the tone color he chooses here is a bit too heavy and kills off the joy inherent in the first movement that needs to be brought out with a lighter sound (again, this is just opinion). I think sometimes he takes the baroque authenticity thing a bit too far. He is a great flutist though and no matter what he does it will sound very good.

  • @Ohflautistpleaze I also think the tone is too uniform .lacks the baroque flexibility....too classica ...great though. That's also why most of these great classical players fall short in more pupular and folk music.

  • @Ohflautistpleaze During the baroque the color is usually dark, each note has its own color. Therefore, during that time flutists had traverso. Later in Classical era color will be softer, lighter and also heavy, as in opera characters applied to instrumental music, Mozart, Haydn, etc... Yes, we have different opinions, schools of taught, that's good!

  • @Ohflautistpleaze I'm sorry but as a flutist, I can't imagine how to play lighter with a Brannen flute [that I also play]. I don't see so much joy in this movement either, on the contrary I sense it quiete nostalgic and maybe sad... but it's just an opinion

  • Emmanuel Pahud, I was playing the flute while you were in diapers and you are now my favorite flutist! Goza la vida!

  • This is Absolutely my Favourite Cembalo Flute Sonata Of Bach. When i First Heard this It made me feel 10 x better than all the Vaginas i had in all My Life.
