tell me about it, new gas cans suck, i prefer the old cans with valves, but now i know how to fix my new cans. thanx for the info. i may however experiment with a nylon tube and see how that goes seein as plastic is more resistant and gasoline will actually eat certain types of rubber.

Brilliant. I hate my non venting Blitz gas can. How about a Presta valve from a bicycle tube?

Do you think the rubber will deteriorate when gas gets on it?

It's possible and I'll probably take one of my valve stems and let it soak in raw gas for about a week or so to see what happens.
