  • Great video! Loved it!

  • ive been on a cruise once... and im looking forward to go on a cruise with one of these ships... :)

  • Yay i was born in Papenburg! Sadly i moved away right after i was born. So i never had the chance to see a ship launch! damn:D

  • I kept expecting to see Gumby jump out onto the screen...

  • What do you mean in "one of your former lives?'' You only live once.

  • The Virgo is a nice ship. Not the biggest in it's class but I still remember walking up to her from the pier and being overwhelmed by the sheer size. She's a very steady vessel too, I felt like I was on solid earth during the entire journey.

  • I didn't know the Germans built cruise ships. I thought they only made ovens......

  • its a singapore ship

  • @effyportable ahem... shdnt it be malaysia? :D

  • @elpdm172 we share the cruise :D

  • Have been on both cruise....the best....from singapore

  • I have been on that boat before from Singapore...Best cruise ever!!!

  • went on it 2 months ago, it was fun tipping the waiteress.

  • Funny enough I was onboard both Leo and Virgo when they were brought out thru River Em.....fond memories! I was among the very first few crew onboard before sailing back to Singapore, where they both based 1998 and 1999. Love Papenberg, love Emshaven, love Gronigen and love Hamberg!!!

  • wow. its weird to think mankind can launch such huge fantastic things onto water, but we struggle with spacetravel.

  • Sounds like a cool job man.

  • Just don't like the lok of latest generation cruise ships. They remind me of huge GRP caravan trailers

  • Fake....all legos in slow-mo

  • @mjscrossover Its real, those are real ships from Norwegian Cruise Lines and Star Cruises.

  • good song

  • bring it back! i forgot the propeller!

  • those captains drive those like cars

  • wow

  • I was in 2005 on this Ship on a Singapore Star cruise. Amazing and it's true ...one you experienced a cruise, you want to do it again. This ship is great. Thanks to the crew of Superstar Virgo.

  • JOS L MEYER (MEYERWERFT) 6 star SHIPYARD!

  • Must be a race car driver at the helm.

  • Okay, I don't see the "launching" part, but this is really a great video, with one of my favorite Tom Petty songs. Thank you for the upload. * * * * *

  • great vid isnt it amazing the way those huge ships can menuever like that? they can drive foward, backward, sidewyas,up down any direction u can think of

  • A beautiful song for a beautiful Leo Class cruiseship!

  • smaching -

  • That's an awesome video- great job! It's amazing what people are capable of! So Huge!

  • haha A three to four hour manouvre through the channel, into a 1 minute video!

  • Cruise ships are only 9M deep. I was on the Voyager Of The Seas (Royal Carribean) and there was a video on how they made it ll ork with only 9M dpth. Amazing.

  • how old do you imagine the Voyager of the seas is now? for some reason that fact has been taunting me

  • I'm surprised the water in that channel towards the end of the clip is deep enough for that ship.

  • Amazing how fast the ship can maneuver those passages...shame for the notchy camera work though.

  • it is time lapsed...

  • It is pictures... its time lapsed

  • Heheehee! C'mon people I'm being sarcasting here.

  • Love the way you put this together! I gotta find this webcam.

  • I sailed through the Alaskan Passage for a 7 day cruise on Norweign Cruise Lines M/S Winward back in 1996. Back in 1998she was In 1998 she was lengthened at Lloyd Werft in Bremerhaven, Germany and renamed M/S Norwegian Wind. Next, she was bought by Star Cruise Line and renamed the M/S SuperStar Aquarius. I did research and found out that most of NCL's ships build in the 90's are now shipping asian tourists (mostly) from Hong Kong to other major Asian ports of call!

  • @macrent2

Hiya....I was a crew member in those ships you just mentioned. Star Cruises is an Asian based cruise line and they bought NCL over in year 1999/2000 in and around that time. The company actually put newer ships in the American market then brought few NCL ships down to Asia mainly base in HK and Singapore.

  • just taking the boat for a run down the river

  • Aaaa, there it reads, in Germany.....OK

  • Papenburg, which is in northwest Germany. The footage is from the webcam on top of the shipyard and from the shore of the river Ems.

  • Meyer werft shipyard?

  • Yes. Do you know of it?

  • yeah, a little. Well one of my favourite ship were built there. M/S SIlja Europa

  • @ZipperJacket Ya in Papensburg. Great builds there. Radiance Class from Royal Caribbean built there aswell and many other :)

  • Where have filmed this?

  • Whats the music please?

  • its tom petty learning to fly a great song glad you like it

  • Wow, you worked on the Leo? She's a great ship, I cruised on her last year, of course as the Norwegian Spirit, and loved her! She's a great ship, and NCL is taking great of her. :)

  • I knew it that was from the NCL...I could tell...How it looks Ahaaa Im corected.

  • what happened to super star leo?

  • She became the 'Norwegian Dawn' for Norwegian Cruise Line a couple years ago. I just took a cruise on her last year, she's a great ship!

  • Sorry, I didn't mean 'Dawn', I ment 'Spirit'. She was renamed as the 'Norwegian Spirit'... Whoops... =_=0

  • It moved to Norweign cruise Line as Norweign Spirit. Now Americans can take care of her in good hands.

  • todays cruse shps are beautiful but i think the old ocean liners were better looking

  • what is the song

  • Learning to Fly, Tom Petty

  • Cheers dude!!!

  • Thanks for your video, I like it!!

  • Both are twins alright....both GAMBLING ships disguising as cruise ships.... check the casino on board, and see those arrogant JUNKETS!

  • Superstar Leo and Superstar Virgo are twins right ?

  • Yes, the SuperStar Leo and SuperStar Virgo were twin "Leo Class" ships completed in 1998 and 1999 respectively. No other "Leo Class" ships were built. Leo now operates as the Norwegian Spirit, while Virgo continues to operate under Star Cruises (My last comment about Leo still being a Star Cruises vessel was a misprint, I meant to say Virgo).

  • it's interesting

  • Sorry "masterbenny14", I removed your comment by accident! MasterBenny14 commented that the SuperStar Leo is now the Norwegian Spirit. Norwegian Cruise Lines is a subsidiary of Star Cruises. In 2004 Leo was transferred to the NCL fleet to meet passenger demand after NCL's ship "Pride of America" partially sank when a storm hit the Lloyd Werft shipyards just prior to its completion. SuperStar Leo is still a Star Cruises vessel.

  • The massive tugging power of the tugboat just scares me. I don't understand how one or even two of them can haul a boat 50 times larger than itself and even more

  • Wow Star cruise travelled from Germany all the way to Singapore? Amazing !!

  • Superstar Leo in Papenburg. Very nice video!

  • By god, thats a big ship. Good video

  • wow bloke, thats fantastic! Great video!!! Hard to imagine - Ive been on the Leo, she was a beautiful ship!
