  • i think its crazy that people actually stood still in war back then. So dumb. lol

  • what i'm thinking now >> ..... Assasin's creed III ....... Heath ledger ...... The dark knight ...... All the entertainment one block at a time :))

  • I used to be a soldier like you, then I took a cannonball to the head.

  • boom headshot

  • This isn't dark but it is a little scary seeing a cannon ball coming right at ur head

  • This scene isn't that dark. It's just a little gore. Want trauma? Try land of the dead.

  • Yes USA is the greatest country in the world.... in your own mind. The much of the world you are the epitome of greed, stupidly, social divide, hypocracy and nastiness. The fact your country seems to dislike its own people who are not stupid enough to believe in something there is no scientific evidence for is very sad indeed. Yeah brilliant country !

  • Glad I bought the DVD when I did if they did delete this scene.

  • Well that's one way to put down a rebellion i suppose

  • And again, The Mel Gibson's love for unnecesary and explicit violence. This guy is a sadist trying to justify it through christianism (Just like Ned Flanders xD). But we all love all that unnecesary and explicit sadism, don't we? xD

  • @briobajista fuck you mel gibson is amazing and makes some amazing movies. its anti american athiest assholes like you that make this country th shit it is today.

  • @burtonrules123 you dont have sense of humor at all, don't you? I don't need to insult nobody to stand up for my ideas. I'm not american, and I'm not anti american. Indeed, I don't know why I'm spending my time answering you, maybe to make clear in front of everyone how nonsense is the thinking (or "non-thinking, rather) of yours. I love Mel movies and my comment doesn't implies the opposite. But you can't understand something like that, but don't worry, I know. Calm down and take your pills ;)

  • @briobajista stfu you r not an american its plainly obvious. you just like to badmouth the greatest country in the world. danm you.

  • @burtonrules123 go back to your village redneck and shoot some chikens with your gun. Or, if you wan't it, I will speak in your own language: blah blah blah blah blah. We all know you can't listen to anybody. Im not saying nothing against america or Mel Gibson, blodybitch, but Im getting some fun with that. There was much time without meet a troll like you. Now be a good boy and stop launching shit from your mouth, fucking idiot xD

  • @burtonrules123 by the way, if you didn't realize that yet, is because of dumbs like you, who can't listen nobody and answer anything but shit, that some people hates a great country like USA. Im know you are not going to listen, and avobe all, apologize. But I don't care. You make me laugh so much.

  • Anyone else think of the Legend of Sleepy Hollow when they saw this scene? Apparently that was how the headless horseman well...lost his head "in some nameless battle of the Revolution."

  • @ariesgal1991 yes of course i thought of that. i sawthis movie for te first time tonight and was like WHOA when that happened, but i totally thought, did they throw that in because of the famous story of sleepy hollow? i mean in my mind for years i thought wat it might be like to see a head blown off my a cannonball but up until this movie i had never actually SEEN it happen.

  • Why couldn't that have been Mel Gibson lol!

  • @Fartsurmonde coz he is the hero of the movie asshole.

  • @dibyopai -no he is the asshole who made this c r@p moron

  • Uploader who put up the annotations is a fucking faggot

  • 240p, we meet again.

  • It is December 11, 2011 and I just saw this on AMC HD 5 minutes ago. I've seen this movie at least 6 times, maybe 10.... This is the first time I've ever seen this scene with the beheading.

  • BOOM HEAD SHOT! 0:19

  • ....and on the next episode of "Mythbusters".

  • Wait, where's all their warpaint?

  • i'm glad the rest of them didn't lose their heads.

  • we are watching this in school and its on the banned list so this part was edited out it showed it all except the guys head fallnig off it didnt show Mel gibson during the epic tomahawk scene and it didnt show that one milita guy commit suicide

  • I like how in most of the scenes when the soldiers get shot the living ones show no emotion and keep marching.

  • @cap00692 Dont take Hollywood serious. In Hollywood they stand a few Paces apart, Fight for ten Minutes and have a Decision, the Bossfights take several Minutes. In reality most battles lasted Hours, even Days sometimes, Distances were much greater, and a huge Part of Battling was Maneuvering your Bodies of Troops around. And a Fight between two People usually was rather short. E.g. with Smallswords and historical Fencing, Championship Fights are usually over in a few Seconds.

  • 0:08 EH! MA EYE! D:

  • looks like he had a splitting headache :\

  • @triplennn11 No. It's "Looks like he had a *Puts on sunglasses* spliting headache." YEEAAAAHHHH!!!!!

  • I kept replaying that part over and over again. I LAUGHED SO HARD!

  • @theepicpyroninja why :O i thought it was sad

  • Was about to say BOOM HEADSHOT! but saw somebody beat me to it /=

  • @brawlerbob I'm not even American, but I'm still gonna tell you to shut the fuck up.

  • You know what I hate? An annotation covering up the only bit that I came to see in the video.

  • Sweet headshot

  • @brawlerbob lol, its a movie fag

  • He had it coming. Take that you rebel Bitch!

  • Though this was directed by emmerich am sure this scene was suggested by Gibson he is the most sadistic mfer ever.

  • The first time I saw this I just yelled "PWNT"

  • Boy that cannon gives good HEAD!

  • imagine this scene in 3D :P especially when the cannonball goes through the camera

  • "These rustiks are so inept. Nearly takes the honor out of victory... Nearly!!!"

  • Lol when I saw this, I couldn't help myself, I exclaimed "Damn nigga!"

  • hope the poor fellow was well compensated for his inconvenience!

  • 0:13 What the FUCK?! How far apart are they? I think I'd stick to using a bow and arrow than those muskets. Much easier to aim, shoot and reload at that range.

  • @Str4t0sPh3rE Erm...nope. Also, the Distances are way off on those Movies. In ovies, they alway stand just 10-15 Paces apart, in Reality it was much more.

  • I'm watching this in history class since we've covered all the year's material, and when it came to this part, we all jumped up at the same time and said HOLY SHIT in unison.

  • see the trick is don't stand in front of a cannon!!

  • HOLY SHET! THAT WAS KICK AZZ! :DD Band of Brothers is way better though! :DD

  • OMG the Hessian was in disguise!

  • @cap00692

Well with those guns you kinda have to. They weren't very accurate. A wall of bullets "ensured" something was going to get hit. However with so many rifles firing at once, soldiers didn't always know if their own fired. A few unfired charges could turn the rifle into a bomb ready to go off right in their face.

  • does this actually happen in real life?? serious question

  • @eestivanquisher No, instead your whole torso gets ripped too.

  • well, I'd rather go out that way than in agony. Quick death.

  • expierence points 150 ac 130 gunship. i hate modern warfare so i thought id go ahead and bash it while making a funny :)

  • 0:17 : ''Duck for God sake!!!''

  • whats funny is if i saw anything like that coming my way i would hit the deck so at least if it exploded i died quick or if it was gunna go over my head would not get chopped off by a big flying black ball

  • @redrussian12 At some 1000 to 1200 Feet per Second, your Reaction Time would be longer, than the Time it takes the Ball too reach your Head.

  • @LutzDerLurch um if it was so fast then how come he showed a facial expression as it was coming at him and others started to move away?

  • @redrussian12 It might be because this is just a Film, but I "might" be guessing there.

Also, if a Head is hit by a Cannonball, it will not be knocked off by it. Whilst the Cannonball will continue nearly undisturbed, the Head is just turning into a Spray of tiny Debris.

watch?v=qHmUV8L_MLA&feature=related Imagine this with a 6 to 24 Pound Ball of Cast Iron.

  • @LutzDerLurch obviously a head would not get off that easily unless it was made of a very thin substance instead of iron lead or whatever they used back then because if it was that yes the head would basically disappear from the velocity of the ball but im sure if a human eye can see lightning im sure it can see a ball

  • @redrussian12 Well, you can see lightning for other Reasons (i.e. the high intensity of the Light emitted).

A Cannonball in those Days travelled at about the same Speed as Musket and Rifle Projectiles, which happen to move about as fast as modern Shotgun Projectiles and your Average .45 Colt 1911 Pistol Bullets. And you cant see those aproaching.

If you are standing directly in Line with its Trajectory, You might be able to get the Feeling you might have seen something.

  • @LutzDerLurch [cont.] But then again only if Light shines in a favourable Direction in Ralation to you and the Ball, so it might reflect some of it. This is however, not enough for a true Perception, and you only can see sharply what you really look at, and the Brain interpolates the Rest.

Even if you were looking, you wouldnt have enough Time for any Assesment of reality to be made in your Brain, let alone considering Countermeasures.

  • @LutzDerLurch (cont.2) So if you were beheaded by one of those Cannons, you wouldnt feel or notice anything.

  • @LutzDerLurch but a cannon ball since i have held 2 of them from slightly post revolutionary war and im sure if a almost 8 by 8 ball made of black rock or whatever is flying at me i would hit the deck

  • @redrussian12 Standardmaterial was cast Iron. If by hitting the Deck you mean to duck, well, with constantly being fired at, you would be unable to fight back by any means.

  • @LutzDerLurch pinned down>dead/ripped in half

  • @redrussian12 How exactly would you then do anything, like reloading your firearm, or repell cavalry?

  • @LutzDerLurch does not matter what i do as long as i can fight another day and help the cause and make the brits waste a cannon shot then i did my job

  • @redrussian12 If you dodge, and run , you help your enemies more, as you weaken your own Troops Position, make it vulnerable to Cavalry or Infantry Charges, reduce its Firepower etc. etc.

  • @LutzDerLurch do i have to defend myself for everything i say trust me there is a reason this warfare faded out because it was a waste of money for supplies stupid deaths that can be stopped by decent cover i mean jesus christ we use cover now for a reason

  • @redrussian12 The Reason that this Warfare fade out of use was the Evolution of Weapons-Technology. It is not like Dozens of Centuries of stupid People going to War until we nigh-almoghty Geniuses finally found out how to fight. It is the Adaption of Tactics and Warfare according to the Arms and Weapons employed. You have to fight diffrently with a Musket then with a M16 or a Sword.

  • @LutzDerLurch not at all now a days we use cover. right? you can still use cover while using a musket or a sword just pop out when the time is right not stand there and get shot at why do you think in the movie they show the ''rag tag'' army fighting cover based hiding and waiting for the right time because it was a better way to fight with the technology given to them and i swear to god if i get another comment from you i reporting you for harassment because i cant go 1 day without you stalking

  • @redrussian12 So, you are Discussing things in an open Comment-Section under a Video open to the Public on youtube, and if someone responds, you feel stalked? Interesting, verz interesting indeed. Btw. warfare was conducted that way because overall firepower was still low enough to have massive hand-to-hand combat an option, which forces you to act accordingly.

  • @LutzDerLurch blocked reported and you sir need to find a new hobby other than spending like an entire weekend responding to comments bro i mean everytime i write a comment u respond within an hour seriously if warfare was meant to be even then no1 would get anywhere in war technology because if the other side does not have it we cant use it and if they dont have the same tactic of fighting then we cant use our own war is not fair its about who hits first the hardest and keep on going again

  • @redrussian12 LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

Reported? For what? Commenting on an open Video-Website?

    Doofus.

  • At least it was a quick death.

  • You couldn't train me to stand still while being shot at. haha

  • @MiKeDpRoDuCtIoNs When I was little and saw this, I was mad at how the soldiers stood there. I was yelling at the tv calling them idiots, now I call them brave and unlucky.

  • @MiKeDpRoDuCtIoNs I feel the same way, but if you didn't then they'd probably shoot you afterwards

  • @MiKeDpRoDuCtIoNs well for the most part you wouldnt be standing still, if anything this shows you what it was like to fight on a european feild, in america there were only key momments in the war where this would have happend.

  • Fatality!

  • yeah it was pretty retarded how they actually fought back then, take some cover guys... what armies stand 10 yards away from each other and fires, 0:05 the guy continues to reload as the guy right next to him gets shot in the face

  • @AshinokTheTroll sorry but I don't think you know how warfare worked back then. the muskets were extremely inaccurate, so by having a concentrated volley of fire (long lines of guys shooting volleys on command) the chances of hitting an enemy were increased.

  • @Jakub2610 Not quite. Reasons for linear Warfare are way more difficult t ecplain within a YT commentary.

  • @AshinokTheTroll Movies depictions of Linear Warfare are way off and outright wrong, never seen any decent Depiction. Also, there were good reasons to fight that way. Don't you think Military Elite Leader back then were so dumb every pre-puberty nutty Armchair-general would beat them?

  • the most stupid battle ever seen...

  • Saw this in class. Most people was like WOAH and some people was like EW. I was shocked she even showed it to us.

  • Fatality. That is all.

  • best class movie ever

  • I laughed my ass off when I saw this at school fucking funny as hell

  • @shyant2 Yeah but i bet you wouldn't be laughing if you saw this happen right next to you in real life though huh..you'll probably be more tramatized to say the least...just saying.

  • I watched this on class tv edit tho

  • The guy who got beheaded watched this.

  • the way they fought was so fucking stupid if you stand in lines ur guaranteed to lose like half ur soldiers in a battle

  • I'm watching this movie in class, shame, we have the television edit, I heard this shit's brutal.

  • Like this if you clicked 00:19 and kept watching it over and over again

  • head shot!!!!

  • head shot!!!!!

  • I LIKE THE BRITISH

  • Majblood, The Americans did in fact win the war against the British Empire. We had a reason to fight for our independance, our future. We wanted to create a stable civilization. One free of the unfair British king 3,000 miles away. So, with our amazing strength, determination and bravery, we were able to defeat the best army in the world. ( Not anymore, might I add.)

  • @TheKidPil0t Would you rather deal with one tyrant 3,000 miles away, or 3,000 tyrants one mile away? XD

  • Luckies... When it came to this part the teacher covered the screen with her jacket. ;(

  • Guys its okay, they had ductape...

  • Americans got owned. That is what you get for messing with the British Empire.

  • um @MajBlood who won the war? so shut the fuck up

  • @TheDdrummaster25 Ha, only because the French saved your ass, along with the Dutch and the Spanish. You get bet the Americans, with their low intelligence and poor formations, were hardly a match for the British.

  • @MajBlood Ok, I admit, England did put of a good fight, but, King George III was a TYRANT. Who wants to live under Tyranny? And can't you just respect America, after all, now, we are one of the world powers. But, I'll just leave you to what you think.

  • @Rushman200 Bah nonsense. King George III was a great King who cared for his peoples, though even in 1776 his powers were limited by Parliament much as it is today. America seceded because they wanted to dodge taxes (very cheap taxes to help pay for a huge war, the Seven Years War, where Britain saved the colonies from the French) and they wanted to invade Native land and mercilessly kill the innocent Natives living there. But surprise, the British thought this was inhumane and forbid it.

  • @MajBlood Well... I guess it depends on how you look at it. From a Patriot's Point of View: He's considered a tyrant. From a Neutralist's: They could care less. From a Loyalist's: He's the best king, so far.

Well... he did kinda ruin the shop buisness for the colonists. But... I'm not gonna argue with you. I won't try to change your opinion, you won't try to change mine, everything works out.

  • @Rushman200 Hey hey don't be all like arguments and pessimism. I don't argue, I debate. I might not agree with all of your opinions, but I certainly do not think of you personally in a bad light because of them, nor would I resort to name calling or anything like that unless you did as well. So no need to be all cautious and stuff, it is all good here.

  • @MajBlood K. Well, at least I'm not being a troll abot this.

  • @Rushman200 Are you saying I'm trolling? Stop being pessimistic. Be happy.

  • @MajBlood No, I'm not saying that you're trolling. Usually, I am pretty happy, but if you see me in RL, I keep a straight face.

  • @Rushman200 Well that is good to hear. Just make sure you get out there and into a few parties and have some beer and some fun. I know what it is like, bud.

  • @MajBlood I'm under the age of 18, and plus, I wouldn't be the type to drink, anyway.

  • @Rushman200 Haha nobody waits until they are legal drinking age. But you don't know until you try. Don't look at drinking like it is something fat ignorant party boys only do where they get drunk like idiots and vomit their guts up on the ground. Look at people like me and James Bond, who like to enjoy a nice glass Bourbon, double, mixed with sprite and no ice. A nice drink makes you feel laid back and relaxed and helps conversation with others.

  • man I hate wen that happens to me

  • wonder what the guy next to him was thinking....Man:you ready steve!?....steve?HOLY SHIT THEY GOT STEVE!.....

  • I would tell that guy to get up and quit acting like a wimp... After all its just a little wound

  • @JndBStudios It's only a flesh wound. - The Dark Knight from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

  • We are watching this in class and when i saw this part i laughed my butt off.

  • what a pathetic way to die.

  • Well what else can I say besides BOOM HEADSHOT!

  • @Freefall224 I said that same thing as soon as it happened. But in the movie its like: Bewm. Headshotith.

  • we're watching this movie in class right now.

  • @live2belieb haha us too

  • I had to watch "The Patriot" in 7th Grade social studies (and it's a good thing I was given permission to watch it in school). That part with the cannon scared the living tar out of me!!

  • Well that's one less guy for the British to kill.

  • @ConsularCandidate

    Its just a flesh wound

  • His head shouldn't have been in the way.

  • Too bad he wasn't HEADstrong...that's not the way to get aHEAD in life...He'll never be the HEAD of a major corporation...

  • @emeraldweaponjobe nah dead.

  • @emeraldweaponjobe thats enough austin.

  • @emeraldweaponjobe, funny

not a good time to loose ones Head

  • @sakonaga1

    Really? When is it ever?

  • @emeraldweaponjobe One should never lose his HEAD in battle, anyway.

  • @emeraldweaponjobe ok thats quite enough xD

  • @emeraldweaponjobe and of course, it wasn't a good time to lose one's HEAD

  • thats a headache....lol

  • what type of fighting was this called?

  • @fatboi12007 guerilla warfare

  • My I bet that he had a head ache in the morning...

  • 0wned.

  • Oh that's gonna hurt in the morning.

  • OUCH!

  • oh shit.

  • mmph.....pretty intense...

  • I love this scene so much! Thanks for the upload, bro

  • One word comes to mind :P OWNED

  • Stupid brits! but the Americans were pretty stupid to be fighting like that haha its just like bang bang everybody's dead.

  • @TheCovedog Fighting like what? Line formations?

  • @PondscumArgonian Yeah line formations. But I guess thats the only way they knew.

  • @TheCovedog Indeed, and I think, even with the casualties, that it was one of the more efficient or atleast easier ways to make war. If you had skilled marksmen then they could use guerilla tactics, but with lesser soldiers and conscripts I think its quicker and cheaper to use line formations. Though I might be wrong.

  • 0:20 Pwnage!

  • thats kinda odd but lol

  • thank you for your kindness

  • man this is soooooooo crazy!!

its high time u two stop this meaningless fight.......................let youtube be the best place to watch videos, and not warzones between people of different nations.

  • You are keeping this up, not me sure. see ya.

  • No your responded by making fun of an user, to deliberately start a flam war, and oyu got what you asked for.

And that hasn't anything to do from where you come from.

I'm happy you can forgive so why don't you do it by stoppid this thing right now?

I surely know how to insult in foreign languages but I don't do it, cause it's plainly rude.

Fact you play games doesn't imply you're joyful. And btw I play videogames too.

    See ya.

  • We're watching this movie in History.

    It's freaking epic XD

  • You don't know "most italians".

You're a 22 years old kid from Wales that starts flame wars at first place, then cries like the baby he is when he gets a good spanking from smarter people.

Just get back to your video games or pm me.

How many times do I have to tell you this isn't your private space, but Amity's?

PS: I won't write a line in a language you don't understand, cause when I talk to people I usually don't make fun of them speaking foreign tongues. Now get lost kiddo.

  • Grammar nazi is a term totally disconnected with nationalsocialist ideology.Your lack of understanding is abysmal.

So in Wales you don't use commas for your english?

And yes I'm afraid I could tell you the same stuff face to face.

Besides you started off this thing with your rude attitued, now that you can't walk away with satisfaction you cry like a little baby.Duh.

Please do write your mumblings as PMs as suggested.... again, this page isn't yours.

    Wake up sunshine.

  • Oh dear, you even have problems with basic punctuation, I'm afraid you can't play the grammar nazi role in this pathetic chat you started. It's the third time you fail.Shall we go on?

This is not your private space by the way, if you have the urge to keep on flaming with me.... just pm me or something.

PS: you should be ashamed of the way you write compared to foreign users like myself... see english is your native language, not mine :)

  • You're mumbling right now.

  • I'm italian. I'm not a "fan of America", my friends aren't "fans of America", nor are my parents or their friends.

    Am I stupid? No

    Are you stupid? Yes.

    Cause you failed again.

It's probably better for you to end your flaming here.
