I'm going to be 100% honest. Not all who smoke weed in the AF get caught. Trust me, i knew of a few. It really all depends on the company you keep. @jlandelf Yes very true. In the early 70s, the rank of E4 (sgt) was automatic--unless you goofed up. BUT to get E5, you HAD to compete Air Force-wide by scoring high on sveral tests, and have high APR scores. But..that's the way they did it 40 yrs ago.

@TheClam88 E4 (Senior Airman) is automatic with TIS, and we still have two tests, competing Air Force-wide to make the cut off score that cycle. Getting all 5's on the Enlisted Performance Report (EPR) gets you extra points towards E5, and you get few points for every month of SrA as well as medals and such.
