  • What's funny about this issue is that while movies that you pay for has so much ads,a pirated video has well, none.

  • i stopped stealing movies at the store and started downloading them instead, does that make me a worse person?

  • @ulogisk

Only if you bogged down with morals.

  • @ulogisk When you steal a dvd you take a physical object and profit is lost because that object cannot be sold. When you pirate off the net you are creating a copy, they still have that object and chances are if your pirating it you aren't gonna buy it piracy or not. Meaning there is nothing lost.

  • Its not Piracy if you disseminate your software product over a public network like the Internet!

You gave up all rights to your product when you started handing it out to everyone!

If you want to keep your Copyrights, sell it directly to the customer and mail it to them with a unique serial number that ONLY THAT ONE CUSTOMER HAS!

Any Company that allows the public to freely take their product from the Internet has just created a freeware product with a non-binding License!

  • fuck them! Copyrights should expire on the death of the individual that applied for it or in 25 years if owned by a corporation

  • Not so sure whats with the beggining bit?

  • nice parody :)

  • copyleft

  • TEHE, im a butt pirate.. no seriously, what was the point of this video?

  • Ehh don't care much they only care if you pirate stuff and start selling it but if you pirate it for yourself that don't give a shit so piracy is still good.

  • Thats why i never buy or rent dvd's, i pirate them instead.

  • @string227 yeah, me too, its far cheaper and who cares about the fact that its a crime? They can all fuck up with their blooody expensive prices...

  • The one thing I can say about that anti-piracy ad that's good is that they specifically say that BUYING a pirated movie is theft, which is absolutely accurate, and IS the economic activity that is detracting from the real owners. That is where the money is lost (stolen), and that is where the real offenders are.

  • ABSOLUTELY CORRECT!!!!

  • CANT SEE SHIT

  • WAT A LOAD OF SHIT

  • lmao you stole Piracy Ads

  • Yeah! I wonder if he knows that stealing a person's truck, a woman's handbag, breaking and entering into a home, plus having a couple of dvd's! Let us not for get, he went into the kitchen refrigerator for a beer before heading back into the living room to watch a movie!

  • love that snark with the purse on the sofa

  • Briliant.

  • Ahhh I've heard that sooooo many times... BUT have found out that if you choose one of the foreign sounding languages right at the start it skips the Australian warning AND still plays in english.... :)

  • Sharpy! You are king. I wish I would have known this earlier.. So many wasted seconds of my life..

  • Yes, I love how they imbed the "do not fast forward or skip" feature into the chapter... I think the language starts with an S but don't quote me on it... :)

  • LOL! Very clever!

  • Lol I never really thought of it that way. Good point.

  • Augh, commenting the vid that was, not the comment ;p.. (I'm tired as hell)

  • Stealing is against THE CLAW!

Anyways, brilliant stuff. Some of the DVDs I've bought have that same anti-piracy ad, too. Annoying as hell.

  • What about stealing pirated movies? Two negatives make a positive right?

  • Good point. Never thought of that. Kind of a grey area. LOL

  • Stealing and Copyright Infringement are two completely different. YouTube is as guilty of copyright infringement as anyone. That's how that built the value of their company. YouTube wholeheartedly supports and practices copyright infringement.

  • Youtube isnt a big deal to them though because its just little sniplets of low qaulity(on a watching a movie scale) little .flv site.

Look at Stage 6 though, 80% of their traffic is probably copyrighted material.

  • 80% seems kinda low for stage 6 :)

  • I think the US Govt should make me pay to breathe air because really, it's the Govt's air...

  • Most modern gadgets and electronics depend on piracy to sell, mp3 players, ps2s and the sort, people buy them because they know they have easy access to the data they want to put into these electronics, directly or otherwise, besides, the techonology designed around these electronics allow them to do so as well.

  • beautiful work like always

  • who gives a crap the state, local goverment rip us off with unjust taxes, permits, license, etc etc.

  • Brilliant with a capital BRILL, Dr. Lemur!

  • Nice movie Dr. I personally would never dream of downloading movies from bittorrent sites...

  • I also buy my DVD's beanz and (like some others who have commented) am annoyed to be constantly reminded about the perils of piracy in such a condecending way. I think these commercials are both pointless and ineffectual.

  • You could argue that the commercials actually promote piracy....putting the idea in peoples heads.

  • I hadn't thought that far ahead, but your right. :) Maybe there is someone out there who has pirated DVD's for personal use but never considered selling them for illegal profits. They see this advert, get ideas, and then consider the "business" option. It seems whatever your politics on piracy nobody likes this commercial :) If someone does like it let me know.

  • ROFL!!! This had everything, mate. Above all - quality!!! Back to YouTube premiership material, me thinks.

And thanks for venting my spleen for me, doc.

    Whats the flagging chances? 50/50?

  • I think I might get away with this one now actually Col. I guess dramatized illegal acts and pirating the anti-piracy advert are not youtubian crimes afterall.

  • Nice one. Though all it needs is for some chappy of the intellectually sheltered kind wandering through and....

  • We get this too! We used to have a premier league W***ker by the name of Simon Bates (Ex-BBC Radio One DJ of the Smashy & Nicey kind) who lectured us in a similar way. I reckon it warned us of being terrorists as well, or something.

  • LOL Yeah I know Batesy. He is a total knobhead. A perfect example of the type of "radio personality" I will never listen to.

  • LOL. Couldn't agree more. I was forced to listen to the plimmet on a daily basis for years. I still carry the mental scars to this day.

  • GRRAAAAHHHH! Yes! Thank you for reminding me that movie piracy is illegal. Seeing as how I've just BOUGHT and PAID for a proper DVD, I'm NOT the one you need to tell, you cocks! If they think that the damn thing will stay in the pirated DVDs, that's just plain stupid. The only people who will see those are the people who get the official DVDs. And they've either stolen that or bought it. Either way, it's a miss.

  • My sentiments exactly Mags. :)

  • hahahah that was a very clever concept! Well done Dr. L.

  • I was expecting that cardigan cop guy to bust through the door and throw biscuits at you !! .. those adverts on the DVD annoy me .. i try to skip them but it wont let me !! .. its dumb because if you buy an official dvd they put that advert on it.. YOU BOUGHT IT "!! you dont need to be told that illegal copies are against the law !! you bought it !! arghhh jeez

  • I wasn't expect such a good production you'll fool me again sir, Livewire~

  • Every time that piece comes on I start yelling at the screen. Not you, Lem; you strike back! Very nice.

  • I cannot express to you how much that advert annoys me Tom. I watch a lot of DVD's so I'm forced to see it often. In real life the mute button is some comfort to me however.

  • Oh yeah, I skip that baby instantly...after screaming, of course.

  • Nicely done, you sure do love your wild turkey

  • I have a taste for it for some reason. They should sponsor me with all the product placement I give them. :)

  • I like the advertisement and no I wouldn't say piracy for movies is a crime.

  • haha lol dont go to jail please!

  • Very funny! I hate that song! I can't stand commercial. It was shot by some South African director. He's very embarrassed about the whole thing. Good job. You really went the whole 9.

  • Interesting bit of trivia Khaya :) I don't know what the "composer" was thinking with the song.. maybe we can annoy them into submission?

  • ^5 , classic

  • we have it in latin america also though it is a bit shorter. and that music, it haunts me!

  • I would totaly steal a car, especialy if it was full of nice handbags and videos.

    Stupid advert,Quality video...Nice work Dan.

  • Nice

  • Ha-ha-ha-ha ... I couldn't stop laughing ... well made point.

  • I wonder if this would count as "illegal acts" according to YouTube ToS...either way watch your cornhole dude!

  • Could this be a second flagged video? Might go for the hat-trick next week :)

  • We actually have that in Europe too.

  • Oh no. It's everywhere!

  • Very clever. Had to go back to see what the bag looked like. You did your research.

  • He he. I knew someone would :)

  • Outstanding vid, my friend. Absolutely hilarious. Great editing, too!

  • Someone has a naughty sense of humor!

  • It's me!

  • ...and me!

  • Nice, this is one of your better vids. Good editing. I watched it without sound and it still was funny.

  • Thanks Scott. Thought I might get out of the house for once, even if it was at 4am. :)

  • lucky the neighbors didn't call the cops on your walking around at 4am with a mask on!

  • That was in the back of my mind. Thankfully most sane people sleep at that hour. :)

  • I watched it without sound, tool DrLemur is a genius, is all I can say.

  • How would they know if I would or wouldn't steal a handbag?

    Ridiculous.

  • I hate those ads. Why do they have to tell us this before we watch a movie, like we're going to... suddenly think twice about doing it if we see an ad equating the copying of a disc to the theft of someone's personal, expensive property. You wouldn't commit arson, so why would you smoke in a no smoking area!?

  • lol Exactly Ant. My first thoughts though when seeing this add originally were, "You wouldn't steal a car"? "You wouldn't steal a handbag"?.. well I might steal a car. I might nick a little handbag. Don't judge me.. Your just an advert. A bit presumptous to start making character calls isn't it?

  • Busted!!
