Those "gills" are most likely the weak spots of the neck. Like you know those "gaps" of skin-armor on a rhinos neck and shoulders? I think those are it.

@Mikezilla103 Zilla is amphibious, like Godzilla. For some reason when they mutated, they both adapted amphibious lives. That means that they can breathe air and water. Well at least I know for sure that Godzilla can. He hibernates in the ocean for years. Zilla, however, seems to prefer sleeping outside. But in the movie, Zilla was on the move in the ocean for days straight. Zilla Jr. could be weaker in that he's a bit different in that topic. He has been on the move in the ocean for days before

Yes I have seen that before. But I don't think Zilla could stay underwater forever like Godzilla. It is seen in this episode that he needs air.
