  • If you don't agree with the WTO then get your government to leave the WTO

  • I am the 1%

  • WTO only cares about one thing - THEMSELVES! This is obvious!

  • If you are one of those NWO alarmists, WTO is the closest thing you can imagine to be alarmed.

International governing body of trading, human rights eventually will be needed in the future but the current WTO goes completely opposite direction. It'll only result in destruction of civilization.

We are already seeing it in current worldwide economic collapse.

The organization should be driven by mainstream economists, legal expert but not by the corporates and bankers.

  • Ron Paul 2012....screw the WTO

  • @peng1965a Ron Paul uses many of the same concepts as the WTO (privatization, free markets, etc.) I think that confuses a lot of people. What Ron Paul means by those words is completely different from how the WTO folks are using them. I hope people can understand that he is on the side of the people. I hope Ron Paul can get his message out that he will put an end to things like farm subsidies to Monsanto and everyone else. Ron Paul is against all the monopolistic tactics of the WTO

  • I'm taking a uni course on WTO now

  • the question is at what point will this lead to a mass revolt ,.. at what point will people not lay down and die for the name of profits for others.

  • Basically what people are saying is:

    1) The World Trade Organisation is responsible for governing world trade;

    2) World trade operate suboptimally;

    3) Since 1) and 2), the WTO is responsible for harming developing nations.

Even given 1) and 2), 3) is fallacious. Nobody could reasonably expect any organisation to be a panacaea for world trade and its problems. The question is whether it's better than trade without any regulation or official forum for dispute resolution. That seems unarguable.

  • Friedrich List:

    1-Pastoral life

    2-Agricultural life

    3-Manufacturing life

4-Trade: Agricultural and Manufacturing are combined

Free trade destroyes a part of the overall productive power of the world as a whole. Free trade should be applied only to countries which are relative equal in development, till then protective tarrifs need to be implemented, not to dicourage imports, but to make their prices more equal to those of domestic goods.

  • More countries have lost their food self sufficiency under the policies practiced by the WTO, than they did before the WTO came about.

  • If everything this guy is saying is true why would other countries (especially developing ones) sign onto these agreements and be bound by international law?

  • @ 2:03, "To IMPHOSE TRADGE HRRULES"

  • so let's do some maths.

That the WTO is crap for western people we are seeing it everyday.

These guys are also telling us the WTO is wrong for poor countries...

    hmmm

So , who is the WTO useful to??

    I guess...only corporations. Nice

  • 22:05 mentions the pharmaceutical companies that are restricting access to cheap hiv drugs in africa. i am very interested in learning the names of these companies. i believe that a boycott is in order. the documentary fails to give the names of these pharmaceutical corporations. people need to be educated about who they are doing business with if they buy pharma products.

  • @BoricuaChiTown -Maurice Hilleman, in charge of MSD's hepatitis B vaccine experiments in New York and Central Africa, admits to having been intimately involved importing AIDS infected monkeys into his labs at Merck, and thus beginning the North American AIDS epidemic

  • NO TO WTO----WORLDECONOMY TERORIST NOT ORGANISATION

  • This is utter nonsense. Almost no examples are given to justify the claims being made - because there are no examples to support them. Sanctions are only allowed to obviate the impact of an illegitimate policy, and have to pass through a rigorous quasi-judicial process. Moreover, in what other forum could countries like Venezuela, Brazil (case: US - Gasoline) and Thailand and Malaysia (US - Turtles) hold America to account for privileging its own industries to their detriment? I could go on

  • @ironharbinger - if you need examples you could try to watch the news, where mexican farmers cant compete with us products, drugs against aids is too expensive for african countries and TRIPS does not allow to produce Generica (what Brasil is doing with other drugs) and so on.

I am not an enemy of the WTO and trade should be organized and negotiated. but the WTO is an undemocratic construct. one country one vote is not posible...

  • @MightyMasterPiece The examples you cite at best show that trade isn't perfect, not that trade would be better without the WTO. Would things be better or worse if the US and EU could aggressively subsidise their own industries during a downturn without any kind of perceivedly legitimate sanction for doing so? The possibility of countervailing measures might stop them from disadvantaging each other - it would precisely be the developing countries that would be most affected.

  • @MightyMasterPiece As for democracy, I have almost no idea what that would mean in a global context, but perhaps once again the question is whether small countries gain more or less of a voice than they would otherwise have? Probably more. And on the number of cases filed, that study is clearly wrong - I count 21 cases brought by developing countries in the WTO's first two years alone. The consensus among practitioners is that developed countries are increasingly losing at the WTO.

  • @ironharbinger - ... all decisions are made in the green room process, where others are not let in. the consensus principle is not democratic, cause consensus means that not all countries are AGAINST a new regulation. Usually there is so much pressure put on 3rd world countries to obay that they dont raise their hand.

studies show that the dispute settlement system is relatively expensive for poor countries (18 accuses by them since 1947/187 by rich countries)

    I could go on..

  • This video was very informative, but its 7 years old now. Does anyone know of a well-made and informative video about the WTO which is more recent?

  • No, sure... In EEUU don´t "throw your ass in prison or worse" hehehhe. I´m speaking about all the other countries not just the middle east. Like always, you talk and you don´t know a shit. take a trip and see a little bit, what you see in CNN is not necesary true. In fact, is not true at all.

  • death to the wto

  • I find it hard to understand that one of them holds a bottle of water in his hand (obviously produced by an MNC) and claims that water is a human right. My question is how can costs be ignored like water filteration and its adequate distribution . what critics are not addressing is the level of shoddy government services provided to citizens who pay their taxes regularly. Also did the government provide equal distribution t o the poor before privatisation? are these problems addressed?

  • WTO is evil, just like Religion.

  • Why are the larger corps more powerful then the small business? And why are smaller business (farmers, etc) get shut down? WTO is another form of control against the will of the majority.

  • WTO is BS.

  • If Vietnam, or any other developing country, does not gain from being a member to the WTO, why are they still members...it is voluntary to join or unjoin the WTO....

  • Hi Andreas are you involved in WTO/trade matters? Just curious you obviously are in the rare business of giving pple actual FACTS and information as opposed to babbling nonsense.

  • Generally, the way economics makes people side with the bosses and not the workers. Most economists are on the side of the rich.

  • Average Applied Tariff Rates on Agricultural products

    Thailand 22%

    Egypt 66,4%

    USA 5,5%

    European Communities 15%

Think about it, check the facts prior to believing in this!

  • This is inaccurate, first, no country is forced to join the WTO, e.g. Russia is not a member. Article XX GATT: "nothing in this Agreement shall be construed to prevent the adoption or enforcement by any contracting party of measures:

    (a) necessary to protect public morals;

    (b) necessary to protect human, animal or plant life or health;

    (e) relating to the products of prison labour;

Wake up people, how will trade protectionism benefit poor countries in the long run?

  • proving the world is all a stage we are just the actors on the chess board of knights and days. dam those royals the most barbaric tribes.

  • CLAIM: 18:50 farmers prohibited from planting their own seeds bc foreign companies come and take the seeds and claim it as a patent: TRUTH: Absolute 100% BULLSHIT. This is legally impossible and has never happened, even once, anywhere, ever, end of story. Even anti-WTO activists have admitted that the famous basmati rice incident used as the sole example of this myth NEVER HAPPENED i.e. no patent of existing rice happened. Its a mass email that got out of hand. This woman is PATHETIC

  • You're right enough about what's happening now, but these agreements are drawn up with an eye to what's coming. You can't accuse the PTB of being short sighted. There's a bill on a desk in your congress proposing regulations for growing food, that will effectively preclude home grown produce. There are investors, (not utilities), buying up fresh water supplies already. Codex Alimentarius is here to stay.

  • Your interpretation of existing legislation is righteous enough, but the PTB never view things like that. Take human rights, (CESCR), for example: entry into force 3 January 1976, and look at the world now. It doesn't matter a toss what the law says, they'll do as they please. :-(

  • "TNCs who manufacutre pharmaceutical products, genetically engineered agricultural seeds and artificial fertilizers will thus enjoy new patent rights, giving them greater control over goods. This makes competition by local industries illegal."

    Is that statement true?

  • OMG there's so much bullshit in this I don't know where to start but I'll pick a few: CLAIM: The WTO prohibits environmental regulations. TRUTH: Article XX GAT makes crystal clear: "nothing in this Agreement shall be construed to prevent the adoption or enforcement by any contracting party of measures:

    (b) necessary to protect human, animal or plant life or health;

    (g) relating to the conservation of exhaustible natural resources ...

  • WTO sucks

  • CLAIM (4:30) Under WTO water is a good which means you cant restrict its export even for environmetal purposes. TRUTH: Complete HORSESHIT. (1) GATT allows members to have public controlled water companies. (2) Article XX GATT is crystal clear you CAN impose restrictions or even prohibitions based on envronment. (3) when the HELL was the last time you saw a shipping tanker exporting WATER from one country to another. It doesn't happen except Evian water bottles, NOT farm water

  • I hate the wto as much as the next guy but when people what to learn about it and this is all they can get they are going to discard the anti-wto movement as extremist, This is just as bad as the propaganda that the WTO is sending our way. we need to develop and distribute balanced opinions that can ween people to our side and be more open to other views than far left views.

  • Very well put! I'm a WTO specialized lawyer who usually works AGAINST the EU and US. But I have to say there is so much bullshit in this video I honestly don't know where to start. Anti-WTO activists really need to either hire a lawyer who knows what they're talking about, or or stop giving in to temptation to wildly exaggerate or play loose with the facts. This is just a joke.

  • you're pathetic, you may know a lot, but all you got is knowledge but no intelligence. You have a lack of common sense, and that is something that can't be taught.

  • Common sense is subjective. All I can say is you 100% flat out do not have knowledge of the WTO. I do, since it is my speciality. I'm not being arrogant. I expect firemen to know about fire and farmers to know about farming and WTO / trade specialists to know about WTO. But for pple like me who know the WTO very well (been in years of negotiations there) it is amazing and even alarming that pple like you can believe complete nonsense. It' s like some kind of religion for you pple

  • Why is it hard for United States and the EU to import goods from developing countries. Let me also meremind you that WTO is responsible for illegal immigration from poor countries to rich countries.

  • How are you so ignorant? Did you ever live in our "non developed countries"?

How can you speak about this living where the there are no problem of domination?

    que increiblemente pedante...

  • The GOOD thing is that all this WTO and all the others are based, solely, on lies and deception.

I say good, because it is much easier to fight a world power, which is a lie, than one whihc is real.

They are traders, and are sly, cheaters.

however, it is down to every single person, to break their domination, in your own way. NO army can fight them, and no govt can resist.

ONLY on our low levels, are they unable to control us. It is US who will make the difference, as individuals.

    Just TALK

  • you are all faggots i hope there is a one world goverment and martial law everywhere.

  • your a di©k, is martial law gonna be good for you?

I hope so, if not get ready to suck some serious corporate Di©k and make sure it doesn't spit in your face at the climax!

  • oh i'm so scared.. jesus give me a fuckin' break.. america is not nazi germany(even though some of you pricks think so). go live in North Korea if you want a dictatorship.

  • America is the dictatorship of the world. You can´t see that because you don´t konw the other part of the world.

  • nah America censors your right to protest, That in itself is fascism! stay ignorant and brainwashed, consume! resist capitalism!!

  • totally incorrect. Stay ignorant yourself and continue to misinform ppl.

  • @nigletgook

Type in the following search terms: wto, bolivia, and water.

Now you can't use ignorance as an excuse anymore.

  • The United States is no longer a democracy. It has evolved into tyrannical form of goverment. Yet nothing short other than a revolution at this point would restore the principals of America's constitution. Yet the question is how does fight one of the greatest super powers on the face of the earth.

  • the united states is a republic not a democracy. It has never been a form of tyrannical government nor will it ever be. power here is transferred peacefully and has been longer than nations that have been around in a sense far longer it also rules under the oldest constituion ONE BASED ON A REPUBLIC. The answer to your question is you cannot. Even if the BRIC nations rise up in our lifetime they can't "fight" America just exist around it. You all have terrible false views.

  • @chinkygirl22

Of course the US is a democracy. A republic just means a country that's not a monarchy: the "Islamic Republic of Iran" and the "People's Republic of China" are "republics" too, but that doesn't tell you much. The USA is a liberal democratic republic, i.e. it's not a monarchy + the people in charge are elected by popular suffrage + there is a constitution guaranteeing rights for every one. Simple! :)

  • However, the people in charge today are more the unelected corporate execs, the investor and lender community and the media corporations than the elected officials, which is the problem.

  • ur right. the U.S. is not a democracy. it is a democratic republic

  • We here in the US claim we are spreading democracy. We just happen to do it with bombs, propaganda, and fiat money.

  • Wow, nice trite piece of cliche there. Shall we do the cliche applause now that you have groveled and begged? Clap! Clap! Clap! GOOD BOY!!

  • You sound like a lawyer. Pompus, and full of shit. BTW WTF are you talking about?

  • maximaze democracy

  • All who resist the WTO will be sent to the fema death camps.

The world is in the hands of the rich elite and they will not histate to kill you.

  • Do you honestly think everyone is just going to give up? They will have to take everyones guns first. This would be the beginning of the next revolution. It may be the choice between slow death and instant. Remember governments are corporations and only have as much authority as you give them. Please learn this.

  • PURE EVIL!

  • WTO = Worldeconomy Terrorist Organisation

Protects Big corporations interest against human rights and eviroment.

Its like the Mafia, just legal and officialy supported by our goverments.

  • @Aanthanur

Are you serious? Seriously. I bet that you are wearing a shirt made in China, drive a car from Japan, eat food produced in Mexico, use soap made in Canada, and use a computer made in Thailand. Why is trade so bad?

  • @wallarscanskate trade is not bad at all. the WTO is.

  • @Aanthanur if you want to take it further direct trade, (resources for resources) is better than financial purchasing power (money for resources) when that financial system is governed by a Fiat currency system.

  • @wallarscanskate An offer you can't refuse,huh?

  • the WTO (NAFTA,CAFTA and NAU)is a tools to rob the America people for its health and wealth. The master of this tool is the Elites Bankers ,who control the mine and pocket of the un-constitution government. The product you consume are produce in NON-liberal country (communist). Can you be poison?. Support your future bothers and sister "BUY AMERICAN MADE" has a first choice. the WTO is a middle man/org taking care of his interest, and not your. FREE TRADE eliminate the middle man (WTO).

  • economic and political terrorism = WTO

  • We're Peons to the Talmudic NWO now except for the greedy soldier sniffing cop licking epsilon semi-moron flag waving stupor patriot shop-a-holics that will buy anything off the Tell Lie Vision

Go Team Consumerism. There is no I in Team. No individuality, independence, intelligence, intuition, investigation or integrity

Think of all the future gas chamber attendants just waiting for the orders to kill their neighbors

They are living in a Fantasy world of beer guzzling American Idol Gladiators

  • WW III is near!!

  • I am proud of the people that spoke on this video.

  • i can't more agree with u

    impress me a lot~

  • As an econ major I hate to sound like an advocate for labor unions and human rights group but I got to set this straight. If people have actually studied and understood principles of various fields of economics, there would be no shred of doubt that WTO is there to serve big corporations that want to monopolize and maximize their profits. You don't have to hear the arguments of the other side that uses pseudoeconomics to defend what they call "FREE TRADE." This policy is far from being perfect.

  • What has being an economics major got to do with defending unions and human rights groups?

The former leader of the Australian Council of Trade Unions, Greg Combet, was an economics graduate.

  • OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

    OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I'm fucking sick of the hierarchical structures of the exploitative, capitalistic and oppressive system that shits out corporate politicians who use propaganda to convince the mass society that they are free..

    ..Free to obey

Viva liberty, viva equality -- FIGHT BACK.

    OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

    OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • WTO= World's Terrorist Oligarchy or Warring Treasonous Oppressors!

  • rjames... it's one sided because 88% of people in the world suffer from it on a daily basis whether they know it or not. Members on the WTO are actually creators of inflation, and LITERAL creators of money. I.E. the "federal reserve bank" that is no more federal than "fed ex". WTO is pretty much the umbrella corporation that will soon control the world with chips in your children, and their children. They've pretty much controlled the world since govt's started signing it.

  • World poverty creation organization

  • I'm 5 minutes into this video and there is NO SUBSTANCE.

Give both sides to an argument and let PEOPLE decide and have a say in it. That's your whole argument against the WTO, that people are not having a voice. But this video is so incredibly one-sided. There is a positive argument for the WTO and there is no mention of those in this video. Please .....

  • The WTO's sole purpose is to enable global fascism (fascism is the merger of corporations and governments, after all), to privatize basic human needs, and ultimately, to thin the herd. That's you and me, bub. What's good about that?

  • Once again, another biased opinion. I remember in high school we were presented with a claim that the 'School of the Americas' in central American countries was horrible because of certain reasons. There was never any mention of the reasons FOR the school. I'm sure the policy makers were sitting around table saying, hey let's plot a way to create a school whose pupils eventually murder people. This video is the same one-sided crap that we were taught in HS. Be fair. Present both sides.

  • the basic idea of what there doing is wrong you don't need an explanation on there part you fucking retard, Pure common sense will tell you all the negatives of there basic purpose.

If you cheated on your wife, does it make it ok because your explanation for it is that she was neglecting you in bed. Same things with WTO there main purpose is cheating everybody so do we really need there explanation

  • 示威

  • It makes me sick that Money value has more value than human life, Human rights.

  • google battle of seattle

  • Time to start killing people, they do it, why not do it to them?

  • they're already doing this...the "UNDISERIBLES AND USELESS" (for them) are eliminated through compsumption of hard drugs, sickness, famine, war, among others. WHAT IS DEMOCRACY? anything but GEORGE BUSH'S NEW WORLD ORDER!!!!

  • take up arms. Bomb the UN and Wto into oblivion

  • 1. The IRS is not a U.S. Government Agency. It is an Agency of the IMF.

    2. The IMF is an agency of the UN

    3. The U.S. Has not had a Treasury since 1921.

    4. The U.S. Treasury is now the IMF.

    5. Social Security Numbers are issued by the UN through the IMF

    6. You are an "Institutional Unit" in which your body and labor are pledged to the UN through the IMF

  • I love that South African guy.... water for all, electricity for all, houses for all, education for all!!! He's right. South Africa is still a mess after Apartheid. Some even say worse.

  • The WTO and Congress should be watched closely this year.

  • Interesting how the WTO disgusts every faction, socialists and constitutionalists alike.

  • WTO:

    World Tyrannical Oligarchy!

  • lol How about We'll Take Over

  • Hi could someone out there that has watched the majority of the clips on youtube to do with the WTO help me out?

I'm searching for the video in which this is stated:

IRENE OVONJI-ODIJA: The WTO is supposed to be a rules based organization but its a power based organization... .

I Keep watching the videos but can't find it. Ring a bell to anyone?

    Thanks

  • whoaaa. was that your artistic interpretation or is george lucas on a different trip than i thought?

  • this comment didn't register specifically as a reply to truthlifelove's star wars analogy comment. but that's who the q was directed towards.

  • please save us not the whales i'm tired of hearing all this enviromental crap i don't care that should take a back seat to human rights

  • why must we choose? We have, even if you ONLY think about HUMAN interests, a particular interest in sustaining that which sustains us. To put the environment in the back seat is a slow form of suicide.

  • the analysis is pretty good, but they (bello, barlow in particular) seem to want a return to some idyllic former liberal utopia where competition and freedom were the mainstays of the economy.

i adore most of the criticism but balk at the lack of imagination.

    are they theoretical luddites?

why don't they name the "dangerous model"?

  • This documentary is really educating. Im a business student and working on the Wto's impact on the developing countries and this documentary really opened my eyes on many aspects so nice one yimanh for posting this. take care

  • business student!

does this analysis confirm the chicago neo-liberal school? show that it needs to be tempered with social thinking? or suggest that (capitalist-driven) economic globalisation is a farce?

check out david harvey's book on neoliberalism too!

    cheers!

  • The WTO is a rules-based, member-driven organization — all decisions are made by the member governments, and the rules are the outcome of negotiations among members.

  • I meaan, slash1746

  • This is intresting and you should tell your friends and familly to see this video. Down load it. you can put it in myspace profile. I learn a lot from this video...things I didn't know which I thought I new about the WTO. So please spread the word like as it was a fire in a dry forest. Thanks for the video Yimanh.

  • Im at 21;32 and so far this has been accurate and to the point. The "cutting" is simply for artistic or dramatic effect, and does not negate or misrepresent the intended meaning of any of the speakers thus far. I suspect that the person above me either did not finish the vid or is already biased against its message.

  • This is pathetic. The frequent cutting within people's speeches is highly suspect and removes all remenance of context. It's full of vacuous rhetoric by equally vacuous individuals. On the occasions that it tries to suggest something meaningful it gets it spectacularly wrong, exhibiting a lack of knowledge about the WTO, the participants and economics in general.

  • Fuck you you fucking greedy yuppy capitalist pig the wto gives power to major corporations to help vex labor laws and enviromental regulations

  • slash1746, I agree with your position but the way you express yourself sounds incredibly ignorant and makes you sound like a dumbass. Try using sound logic and argue peacefully when you disagree.

  • Hey, Jake

  • Are you aware that U.S. bred Economic Hit Men (EHM) continue to be dispatched to developing countries in order that they bribe leaders into obeying World Bank policies? And that If EHM fails, the U.S. CIA provides more lethal means of persuasion? If still unsuccessful, a U.S. military invasion is ordered as in, the U.S. invasion of Panama and Iraq as well as, control of other South American countries. And by so doing, increased the poor in every country.

  • nice! people need to see whats wrong with a world that has more than half of its population living on 1 buck a day!

  • thanks for the video, it opens every mind.

  • more people need to learn about the WTO, WHO/CODEX & IMF!
