@Stoksie01 you're an idiot. Where have you been last 100 years of olympic weightlifting? I bet he was going for deads after this. You sounds like multiculturism global warming freindly hussein obama voter
This is very impressive. My shitty genetics ergo long legs, make it virtually impossible biomechanically to squat this much weight. Why couldn't I have a proportionate upper body/legs ratio and have a Germanic or Nordic background? Sigh.
That's true. You keep hearing idiots going 12 is hypertrophy, 5 is strength and 1 is power. These idiots doesn't know that you can build serious mass with 1 rep max every 10 secs five times (one set) for five sets. Diet is the key and how slow. Using speed (explosiveness) will not build you any mass though.
if that is true, why do powerlifters and oly lifters do so much max effort work 90% plus of 1rm? why dont powerlifters do set of 12? why dont bodybuilders do heavy singles and spend there time doing sets of 8 plus? if what you said is true then pretty much all the training info on the web is false, and im talkin about westside and credible lifting sites.
Don't listen to nabukun. How many reps/sets you do has a large impact on muscle growth. What you asked is mainly true, but don't over-do the sets of 5 or else you will put on some mass. I prefer doubles/triples when it comes to relative strength.
How often you do them is completely up to you and how well you recover. For instance I currently squat 3 days/week. General guidelines for percentages in comparison to 1rm from what I've been told is around 95% for singles, 90% for doubles, and 85% for triples, plus/minus a few percentages. In theory, 90% should be your 3rm so that's why doubles make sense.
Power lifters do sets of tens. Power lifters use speed (explosiveness) to overcome a weight unlike bodybuilders. You can get big with many 1 rep training.
i dont know of many schools of thought within powerlifting that advocate 10 rep sets. except for assistance work, powerlifters do sets of 5 or less, whether it is max effort or dynamic work.
max effort work and dynamic effort work are often performed for low reps. im not saying no powerlifters do high volunme, but the majority do max effort, which by definition cant really be more than 5 reps. and dynamic effort is pointless after 5 reps, because the fatigue will prevent you exerting maximum force of on the bar.
@sr19 Mariuz the polish strongman work in the 5 rep or less range. have you seen his body? He is bigger than many bodybuilders. In the end it boils to dieting. There are 5 x 5 and 5/3/1 programs for body builders than works great. And many powerlifters are enormous too!
im fairly inexperienced, so ill ask you. does doin sets of 5 build much size? because i want to get stronger, but i dont want to put on anymore size, im heavy enough, and want to improve my relative strength. like from all the research ive done on strength without size, its mainly heavy singles, doubles, triples and some sets of 5, all with low volume. is that true?
@foliodz Nonsense. 5 x 5 is as good for hypertrophy, if not better than tens if you are naturally skinny, is you rest less than 90 secs between sets. I hate that idiots keep spewing this nonsense again and again. Bill Starr 5 x 5 program is considered one of best around
basically you condition and build up and as you get closer to a competition you decrease volume and increase load so overall intesity increases. most do a ton of effort because they have the time and that is all they do. normal individuals have lives and stuff. 5 plus hours a day of training doesnt cut it for everyone.

I saw this video a second time. Good squats, but still I wonder what's up with the throwing of the weight? Even Zakarov walks the weight back in. I squat the same as you, but never drop the weight like that. Maybe it is a macho thing of yours? Or a cultural thing? ;)
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
And the point with the dropping is? Is there any reason other than the badass image? I mean, is there a scientific reasoning behind it? I know top notch weight lifters aim to make every rep perfect. But I imagine it is a lot of work to pick eveything up and put it back on the rack. I've seen Botev do 320kg raw with no drop of the weights, but maybe he wasn't badass enough? :)
i dont know what your problem is, are you just being a smarmy sarcastic bastard for fun? this guy clearly isnt lifting in la fitness, hes training for strength with equipment that is designed to be dropped. so why not?
@Draykid im sure you have a healthy amount of evidence to support that claim. i ca always tell how much someone squats just by reading their youtube user name. prick.
nonetheless, im sure he can, but that doesnt chaange the fact that he was being smarmy and sarcastic for no reason.
an I´ve seen rezazadeh squating like 400kgs and drop the weight, what is the fucking point? it is common in olympic lifting to drop the weight, everybody do so. It´s no problem because the bar end the weights are made to do so. and a powerlifter have nothing to do with the olympic stuff, he probably had about 50 spotters anyway, this guy did not
@freedomsoldier187 Check out Zakarov 270x2 squat. Walked out, walked in. Very often, dropping the bar is an ego thing. :) Don't know why you get so worked up. :)
@curlyies well I don't know what kinda racks you got but when its on the floor you can rip off all the plates on 1 side, and then the other. Can you do that when its racked ? .... uh don't think so
@freedomsoldier187 yeh and u need 2 people when its on the ground one to lift the bar off the ground on one side and the other to rip the plates off, from a rack u can take the weights off evenly on ur own its much easier
@freedomsoldier187 uh what ? 2 people to unload a bar, are you kidding me ? you grab the plates and rip them off 1 side then lift up the unloaded side let gravity take over and the other side is now empty ?
Wonderful lifting, but I wonder, what's up with the throwing of the weight? I guess the bar and the plates can take it, but what's the point really? :) I loved those squat, deep and nice!
Nice form!!! Most guys that are doing a lot of weight just kind of go to a 45 degree angle u went ass to the floor!!! Excellent work i hope i can be as strong as u some day
Impressive!! Good job man.

When squatting that much weight is it better to have the bar "low" style on your posterior delts or high bar style on your traps?

Way to be a sarcastic twat. The bar, plates and floor can handle dropping, so why not drop after a max effort set?

He recently finished up a workout of 200 kgx3 in paused squats, and has done a 255 kg squat.
Given the average squatting ability of youtube users, I'm not sure it's a massive leap of faith like you're suggesting.

@kraftsportNO 1. its easier to strip a bar when its on the floor then on the racks.
2. if your next exercise is from the floor why wouldn't you dump it.
3. if you have the energy to rack the bar on your last set of squats, your not working in the upper echelon of your capacity
