  • So, how many of you are dumb enough to think that the military hasn't been working on similar technology for years? Of course, the ultimate goal for the military, is to create the "perfect" genetically engineered soldier!

  • mewanawonga

  • sounds a bit scary to me you know how we humans are huh

  • I find this stuff scary because of people you know humans don't always use things wisely huh think about it

  • @npaugh1 Technology will keep going, regardless of our level of self control (at least that's the current pattern). "Know thyself", the old maxim goes. We can't guide our "fate" until we can guide ourselves.

  • I hope they make a mmorpg game out of this! A virtual world would be cool!

  • uhh no more privacy?? how bout just taking off the headset? lol

  • @KinG4L once online back up systems are created and downloaded updades are available, the data base can be used to average out the set frequencies for emotions, people's brains use,ELF or extremely low frequency waves, the frequencies this head set and software pick up. Now if you introduce an ELF wave towards the brain from an outside source or transmitter, the brain can indeed lock onto this frequency and follow it up and down enducing many emotional states, even thinking you have seen things

  • @KinG4L Now this would be pushed in new ways, in TV or DVD etc, to enhance to program in question by emitters in the TV or set top box, these will be able to enduce emotional states relative to the film you watch, say its a scary film, they will enduce fear or emotions near to that level to make the film feel very real indeed.. now this has a down side, this technology could be used to manipulate populations, more so when they are pushing propaganda when whating to go to war or some other garbage

  • it was about time that they design this kind of mind reading headset. But ofocrse it had to be americans and Japanese who did it first xD no ofense.

I really looking forward to live in the time of high technology. After 2011+ things are turning really interesting. Well at least I hope so

  • @SunBreaker6 Emotiv is an australian company. And they wasn't the first to do it, they're just using more electrodes then the competitors.

EEG (the technology that enables the "mind reading", google if you wish) has been around for decades; the theoretical basis (wich is knowing about cerebral electrical activity) is as old as a century.

That said, building "usable", affordable, consumer EEG devices is quite an achievement, so Emotiv do deserve the hype.

  • alright then. Well thanky for telling me this ^^

  • @rev087

it's not that much about the device itself. It's the software that can decipher the seemingly random input.

  • @CarboneCZ This thing has many applications, you could turn an enemy into a nervous wreck, they have made this stuff for a reason, just like cloud computing, oh yes upload all your data, into our hard drive, just incase we need to look at it...same with this data, soon if they get their way, hard drives wont exist, all your personel data will be uploaded, just like your brain waves, it wont be long before they incorperate this headset into your laptop or pc or phone, they know how you are feeling

  • Neural Networks + Fuzzy Logic .

  • I was cut off on my last comment. I was saying to read (Cathy Obrien on mind control) here on You Tube.

  • Stay strong leonjksa, you are not alone. You may want to see CATHY OBRIEN ON MIND CONTROL

  • I really want this... but I'd wanna try and make it work as a computer mouse or something.

I can't wait for the future of this stuff! I hope it progresses quickly.

Imagine if one day we can use it as a keyboard, thinking of the words instead of typing them.

  • We are entering a new world order with this technology. This is a gold mine for insurance co. They will read your thoughts to see if you're telling the truth. next they will download our thoughts in court to see who is telling the truth. It's very scary if you see the downside of it. No more privacy!

  • Not to mention once these things are mainstream they'll be permanently connected to the internet, all our thoughts could be monitored and will no doubt have a flag system for certain thoughts.. such as "anti government", "im being controlled", "revolution"

  • It would only work like that if you thought in Morse code, and they would first have to establish an individual base line for each Morse/alphabet character as you personally think about them. And then you would have to agreeably divulge information in this profile, not unlike the way Dr. Stephen Hawking communicates by squeezing his handset. If you don't understand this explanation than it's likely you are too much of a dimwit to have any kind of information anyone would want to get!!

  • 500 dollars not 300...

  • 300$ for consumers. 500$ to LICENSE it, meaning for a company.

  • where can i buy it ?

  • Wow thats cool. Though there is one downside to this if we can do small tasks like getting a cup of water, that downside is EVERYONE will be fat.

  • Just like on Wall-e. lol

  • lol. No, not really. The company is, for the moment, only planning to use it for video games.

  • but, emotiv is selling it to also personal developers ( which i will become one of them "i hope when they released it" )

what if they are trying this, because i am pretty much already building a plan for robotic legs for handicapped and improved movement and just by thinking it moves.

which sounds pretty possible to me...

  • pretty much everyone IS fat by now. :P

  • sounds cool! when can i buy one :)
