  • I'm a selfish prick...I want Hitch back dammit

  • Thank you Hitch. Thank you for the inspiration through a tough transition in my life. Thank you for inspiring my to strive for enlightenment for the rest of my life.

  • Great thinker of our times...Cheers Mr.Hitchens..we shall miss your hitchslaps...

  • eleven thousand views and no dislikes, it's like watching some bizarre astronomical event that's never going to happen again.

  • Raise a glass to Hitch.

  • The party will go on.

  • @deanneugebauer Here Here

  • I drink fine wine when I watch Hitchens just to remind myself how much more I enjoy Hitchens than 100 year old drink.

  • I enjoyed this interview. Respectfully done. Christopher is an exemplary human being.

  • Wow what an excellent interview.

  • Thank you for posting this, RationalThought321.

  • I really like this interviewer, you can tell he has a real appreciation for Hitchens, his works and his life.

  • @Yaarrr That's Charlie MF'ing Rose, he's one awesome smart mofo, and probably the best interviewer alive today.

  • Truly remarkable man. The only person of his views that have made me at the very least reevaluate my views on Iraq and Clinton. Christopher Hitchens really is that incredibly and sadly rare human being: the independent intellectual. I suspect he will come to be remembered every bit as well as Orwell and Wilde, and certainly just as well if not more admired and studied.

  • Agree (with Jamesdc60) and if our wishing to have him for another decade is selfish, then sign me up for the selfish club! I have to hope he never leaves as the void he'll leave behind will just be too big.

  • It is inspiring and admirable to see this man facing his life and death with such strength and consideration. I hope he beats the odds and comes out of this with another decade of life or more.

  • Congress cannot abrogate its powers, and the Constitutional powers of future Congresses, to anyone: not the Chief Magistrate, not the judiciary, not the U.N./N.A.T.O. The citizens must have permission from the government to complain about the government. Corporate science seeks control through consolidation of power.

  • @ScientificalnessUSA Shut up.

  • to all of you knuckleheads (and you know who you are) who think that hitch is not

legit when it comes to atheism:

    4:20

  • How brave of hitchens to say he wants to be concious through the pain of cancer,so he could maybe comment on it.A true journalist to the end.He constantly knocks me off my feet with these amazing comments.

  • Smashing job Charlie. Hitchens was the only person who made me say "why even bother."

  • Hitchens is a remarkable journalist, arguably one of the best in his profession. I do hope he manages to the 5% of those who survive his type of cancer. Haiving never been a believer, the feeling that Christopher Hitchens is not either makes me feel proud of my atheism.

I do want to note the skills of the interviewer, too. The way he asked those rather cruel questions on cancer and dying is worth ebing included in the texbooks on good journalism. Thank you for uploading this!

  • Though I can't agree with Hitchens' atheism and hostility to religion, I admire his bravery and fortitude, as well as his mind. He does, in my view, miss he point about the meaning of his life (and death).

  • Though I can't agree with Hitchens' atheism and hostility to religion, I admire his bravery and fortitude, as well as his mind.

  • I have to say he never fails to leave an impression on me every time I hear or read his views and his incredibly honest account of dealing with death might well be what's impressed me most. I won't say that there aren't other figures that I admire and support, but none of them have the capacity to make me reflect on my beliefs and morals as critically as Christopher Hitchens often does.

  • Hitchens is a great man and a brilliant writer.

I wish him comfort and happiness.

  • The N.W.O.'s lackey/wacky-Leninist Chrissy Hitchens' red-herring, non-issues cater to America's analphabetic, pants-dragging, tattooed legions of 20-something nincompoops. He's NEVER endorsed the Constitution in any substantive way. He's NEVER said an ill word in regards to the Fed's shenanigans & the trillions of dollars that they've absconded with. The U.S. is plunging headlong into receivership as Hitchens bleats about Mother Teresa, Jerusalem Slim's divinity & Jerry Falwell.

  • @ScientificalnessUSA

Your a douche bag. Another person put this same posting on another video. Maybe it was you with a different name. if not you must be copying this from something you've read and are posting it as your own words. Which if true plagiarist.

  • No matter when he shuffle's of the stage this man will be sadly missed .

  • I still have trouble embracing life with a healthy vigor due to my own fear of death and suffering. I admire the courage of anyone who's willing to live with such gusto and when presented with potential consequences, say "so be it". It's a beautiful thing and I can only hope that one day I can do the same.

  • The death of christopher hitchens will be the greatest loss of a public figure in my lifetime. What a phenomenal human being. You won't be forgotten christopher, you'll be in my heart and mind until my own death.

  • @areyouquitemad He's not dead yet.

  • @Pilaf1984

    "...will be".

  • Despite how much I disagree with him, and how infuriating many, though certainly not all, of his views are to me, I'm struck at how enjoyable Hitchens is to listen to! His articulacy and his ability at simply speaking make me feel totally inadequate, and he must be the first person I know of to be capable of making me fume at hearing him talk, and yet still wanting to hear more. For that I really admire him and think the world will be less without him.

  • chris' convictions remind me of socrates on the day he was put to trial

    much love to Mr. Hitchens

  • Great interview, he will be missed when gone but let's not write Hitch off yet ok?

  • I pretty much never never am sad when people die, i find it totally illogical, even when it has involved my own grandparents. Somehow though, the thought of Christopher Hitchens dying really fucking pains me. I suppose that is because he actually matters. If I could give him 30 years of my life so he could keep writing I would. We're a few intellectuals away from being completely devoid of them.

  • @lifeemusicelife It is illogical to be sad when people die, that's why we refer to it as an emotion.

Humans have two parts, logical and emotional. Let's not confuse the two and let's not give favoritism to one over the other.

  • it's over all of a sudden? lame.

  • I think Charlie was getting "choked up" at the end. It was very moving. I hope that I can meet and become friends with someone of Mr. Hitchens calliber before I die as well.

We love you Christopher!! Life IS a gift, a gift that I would have ignored if I would have never been set free from my religion. Thank you!

  • wow!

    I`m very much impressed!

God is not Great - but Hitchens is! :-)

  • I disagree vehemently with Hitchen's about US foreign policy but I largely agree with him not about religion. I've wished he could be shut up about Iran, but now that it seems like a distinct possibility, I feel horrible. I hope he recovers, and I wish he didn't have to die this way. I wouldn't wish it on anyone, though. He's annoying and full of it, but at least he's entertaining and makes you think (and read). Please don't die, Hitch.

  • If i was interviewing Christopher i would of asked him if the death of his mother sent him on the journey for truth about religion and a god..... It would of been nice for him to explain how he thinks people see the truth.....I personally think its being born a skeptic and a will to find out how things work.

  • Christopher Hitchens has very similar approach to death as Randy Pausch in The Last Lecture.

  • I seldom disagree with Mr. Hitchens, but as to his point regarding the irrationality of 'role models,' i must selfishly contend... he will always be one of mine. Cheers Freethinkers.

  • Thank you for uploading this. (smiley face)

  • 21st century Achilles

  • You have to die of something.

Embracing the whole moment of life, I drink to you Mr. Hitchens.

  • @fatcat2939 He's not dead. He is struggling, yes, but medicine improves every month. The chances of recovery are actually quite high now. Christopher began fighting as soon as he heard the prognosis, which means his chances are good. If it goes into remission and he gives up smoking and drinking, he could have another 20-30 years to keep on writing!

  • @piratebri I certainly hope so.

  • Thomas Paine, David Hume, Voltaire, Darwin, and Hitchens, no doubt.

  • I very much too sense the same influencial hitchens virus take over

my immune system on most days of my life.... but then again a virus

can only make the immune system stronger to a certain degree.. He is

defintely for me, in the top 50 most intelligent people to ever exist.

  • @Mujedekhnahai was that a poem lol?

  • Hitchens is the only one that have made me rethink my views and standards. Only one that have made me buy lots of books i really didnt want to read, opened up my mind. At the end of all that i still find myself disagreeing with some parts , or else i would think i was brainwashed. But reason have that effect on ppl, dont it?

  • @richter75 It's as Penn Jillette notes in a video on pennpoint (here on youtube), where he describes Hitchens as one he disagrees with quite often, but he never gets depressed when disagreeing with him, because Hitchens always makes an honest, well-thought and reasoned argument with an extraordinary rich language. There's something very fascinating and convincing to that, even though you still think he's wrong: It's the type of discussions that leaves you enriched instead of enraged. It's nice.

  • @richter75 No offense but your typing doesnt much reflect someone who reads Hitchens' books, and I find that funny. Ha. Ha. Ha.

  • @o0Mav0o Well English is my third language. Your point does not reflect any who understands the point of argument though. How does it feel to be a troll ? Wiki: Troll (Internet)

  • @richter75 Who said Im trying to argue, sometimes people(me) just feel like being an asshole to some incoherent fool(you) in the internet. As you said, that was just me trolling, your second sentence and third sentence conflict with each other. Wiki: Contradiction.(if you resolve that I am a troll, it should be no surprise that my words "don't reflect any(one) who understands the point of argu(e)ment though"

  • @o0Mav0o Its certainly not any contradiction. It could have been a logical fallacy, but ain't that either. Go troll somewhere else kid, you are full of white noise and are making a fool of your self.

  • @richter75 I'd only be making a fool of myself if i actually valued the opinions of those reading this. I'm still suprised one such as you who feigns taking the high road continues to reply to one he has dubbed a "troll". It takes two to tango. If I'm full of white noise and making a fool of myself, why are you still taking time out of your apparently busy and important day to reply to me? (that was rhetorical by the way, I don't actually care about your answer, although you'll respond anyway)

  • @richter75 @richter75 Yes reason does have an effect on people just like Hitchens does! It was Hitchens, Dawkins, Bart Erhman, and Matt Dillihaunty(sp) who helped me open my eyes and take my fingers out of my ears along with being quite(no longer going la, la, la etc)that nudged me to "RESEARCHING" on my own! I dumped(not lost)my faith a year ago and have never been happier!

  • @richter75 Yep! He changed my life as well.

  • @richter75 ,dont it?,na.

  • @richter75 year old comment reply, but whatever

Nice logic, "If I don't disagree with SOMETHING, I'm brainwashed" Makes so much sense

  • @AssailantLF The years pass very fast though. Maybe you will understand the minor point if u switch the word SOMETHING with EVERYTHING..

  • @richter75 Ok, that makes less sense. Disagreeing with everything?

The point is that it wouldn't be a bad thing if you happened to agree with exactly everything Hitchens said/believed. You should only disagree if there's good reason to, not for no reason other than to consider yourself "unbrainwashed"
