@Tharosa1942 I don't remember, I know I used a very dilute solution from a drain cleaner container. I think you just got to make it slightly alkaline to make it work..
@Tharosa1942 sure! you just have to dilute the pills in water, and this is quite easy to do (though you have to "smash" the pills a little bit to make it work)
Have you played with the Iodine Clock reaction? Speaking of "fast," lol...it's almost the opposite of the MnO4 one, monochromatic, and no "slow fade" - it just goes BLIP! and the color is right there all at once.
I like that you used a concentrated solution. The colors are really vibrant that way. I didn't mind that it went quickly. In other videos showing this reaction, I couldn't see the blue very well, and not the orange at all.
Question dude, How many NaOH pills mixed in water?

@TheDataDiva no, but I've seen some videos, it's awesome :D I think I'm doing that methylene blue thing - the blue bottle, you know?

@TheDataDiva hmm yeah, I kinda liked the output, but I also like to see the colors slowly fading out (:

@ThoseLatinoKids Can't we use Sugar instead of Sucrose?
Tharosa1942 1 year ago
@Tharosa1942 you can use everything that's easily oxidable :D and that includes sugars, including common table sugar, sucrose.

The last one is Mn2+ not 3+
mewrox99 1 year ago
@mewrox99 oh really? I saw it somewhere it was 3+, but anyways.. cool channel you got :D and yeah, (C2H5)ClO4 is a win, haha :D
ThoseLatinoKids 1 year ago
@ThoseLatinoKids
Haha we were both wrong. The last one is where Mn is in the 4+ in the form of MnO2. Mn2+ is light pink.

@mewrox99 lol looks like you're right, gotta fix that now

@ThoseLatinoKids Kotz's General Chemistry and Organic Reactions tells me it's Mn+2 indeed :B but MnO2 makes WAY more sense, just saying.

Cool :D
I believe that it would be even nicer if you would put less amount of KMnO4 in it :)
hellzBrother 2 years ago
@hellzBrother yes, it would fade from one color to the other more slowly
I liked the "splatter" changing color instanly though

Yeah, it's still cool :)
