the F-35 program will not be cut because it is cost effective.

Read about the money-hole projects that have been underway since the 80's in the defense department. They were for Cold War era defense. No one fights that way anymore. Ask yourself a question. A lot of it is to compensate for most of the Iraq war being paid for off-budget, and to pay for repair and replacement of mountains of damaged equipment. It's not to maintain the Army, it's to REPAIR it. :)
