  • Columbus with a thick French accent.

  • "pilleje vill be punizhed by ze vwiff, raiffe, by ze swvord" that's a real first rate french accent colombus had

  • If you found paradise, would you want to go back to civilized life?

  • 100% perfect music

  • Yoçu all have no idea...about this place what you call paradis....

i want to back....but its much...lovely....after the passageway....

    Passageway < zuiveringsweg......

    Sincerely......•*♥*`•. Kissessss and Hugs ¸.•*¨♥*`•.

  • October 21st. my birthday, This soundtrack and this movie, remains me a long time a go, i was watching this movie, with my love . . . later i bought the Cd. . . And i still listen to it . . the movie was awsome and impressive . . . !!

  • If only the natives knew initially what was on the white man's mind and weren't submissive right off the bat. They could've killed those Spanish fuckers right away. Then at least their culture could've survived much longer until the next group of European assholes came again.

  • Yes, they were brutalized by Castillian people. Everybody knows Castillians pulled their hearths out when they arrived. No te jode. Castille, the only nation, until the XXth Century, that made a law protecting the natives rights. Study History and dont invent it.

  • all human beings brutalize one another

    none are pure or innocent

  • Let's not forget all of the disease that ravaged the native american population. It was not all just massacre and genocide as the popular notion is. I'm in no way a supporter of colonialism but I can say that there has been much misinformation on how their populations declined.

  • I would like to live in a place like this, away from the endless industrial fumes and noise pollution from the city, where no stars can be seen at night because the sky is yellow with the glow of the city's lights, where birdsong is replaced by construction drilling sounds.

  • All in the name of religion. Sad.

  • what do you mean whit "Orgonal scene" ?

is there a another version of this scene ?

  • @ridlazz921

No, it's just cut from the movie, I will change it. Thanks.

  • @mugensx i just love this movie, it so fantastic.

i heard that ut was PG-13 when it came out in the states. cant imagine that, this movie have some really stronge scenes.

i also heard they are gonna make a longer cut of it wich would be around 3-4 houres. look forward to it

  • 0:42 hairlp steve!

  • You know, while I totally think it was a shitty thing for Europeans to do to come over and conquer/subjugate the native people, and while I love Vangelis tunes, this is just stupid propaganda. Buying into it doesn't make you any more enlightened than the idiots who came over here and thought it would be a swell idea to stamp out a bunch of other cultures to impose their own.

I get that movies take an artistic license to better convey messages. That is fine. But stop acting like it's gospel.

  • the world wasn't an innocent place 500 years ago, get real

  • @tizona101 Exactly right, this hemisphere wasn't all peace and love. The Aztec Empire brutalized other tribes that weren't as strong in numbers as they were and as a result wiped them out. They also enslaved others to build their temples. I know because part of me is native-mexican but I am also part Spaniard.

  • Anybody think this movie is a bit like "Avatar"?

Both movies have similar themes, both have awesome soundtracks, and they both star Sigourney Weaver XD!

  • The english black legend call spaniards 'monsters' but hte funny thing is the english did even worst wiping almsot the entire indigenous pop while in spanish america such as in the portuguese one mixing was a key weapon in 'extermianting' the indians so we can say they also 'exterminated' the majority of the indians.

  • If spanish massacred indian population in southamerica, how more than 80% of Southamericans are indigenous descendants? I'm wondering why in northamerica less than 1% are indigenous peoples descendant if the only murderers are the spanish! And Spanish empire are the only nation present in las americas with a total prohibition of slavery since 1493! Please, read books (modern ones!) and stop the old lies of black legend.

  • @SrNutritivo i dont know wich is the % of indigenous descendants in S. America but i'd say taht most people in most S.A. coutries have at least some degree o native indian ancestry. In N.A. the amount of people with indiginous descendants is problably a lot higuer than 1% thats problably the amount of real native indians. Both did bad but the english did a LOT worse not cuz the spaniards where nicer but because of the economical model in both colonizations.

  • Vangelis is the best....

  • I am Celtic and Kiowa, I helped excavate a grave site because the ARCO refinery had dug into it without knowing and we saved the remains and had them reburied by their own tribe with their ceremony so they could be at peace. One had a bullet hole in the skull, one was drawn and quartered, some were sitting prone, there was a mother and child...I've seen first hand what were done to the natives on the pacific side, a couple hours drive north of the Mexican border. Sad.

  • Quanti paradisi ancora restano da distruggere??

La nostra arroganza ha ucciso ,promettendo solo paradisi artificiali ,chiamiamo civiltà quello che è abominio ..ora raccogliamo i frutti TUTTI PAGHEREMO IL SANGUE DI GENTI INNOCENTI CHE IN NOME DI UN DIO ABBIAMO MASSACRATO ...USANDO UN GRANDE UOMO CHE ERA CRISTO!

  • what movie is this?

  • @georgel19841 1492: Conquest of Paradise

  • Eternity? For Latin America? Not. I agree with mediterraneo1000...

  • didnt say his film scores were shite only chariots of fire, then again that is my opinion i wasn,t generalising, vangelis in my opinion is a master of what he does,it doesnt mean to say i will like everything he does.

  • chariots of fire is shite listen to vangelis before he became famous,he started writing music for films and lost himself

  • how can you see blade runner and say his film scores are shite. Fuck me, that was legendary and ground breaking

  • Cannot be disputed!

  • By far the best soundtrack made by Vangelis. Not saying Chariots of Fire is bad but he relies on tech advance on sound which was by far better in 1942. In chariots of fire the harmonies are very good but quite simplistic compared to 1492 but anyone has his/her own choice ;=

  • blade runner :)

  • As Columbus befriended the Indians,

as the same time he was thinking of ways to enslave them.

  • 0:42 nice face

  • When did this movie come out?

  • Columbus day 1992.

  • the Garden of Eden ,

    the real garden of Eden

not that so called illusion Garden of Eden you know from your bible

its an invention of those Gold steelers from Ancient Europe,

    the brainless ones

  • hey i have a mine full of gold, you wanna know where i hide it?

    i wont say,

i take it with me in my grave ;)

  • lost dutchman?

  • Heaven on earth

  • october twenty first nineteen fourty two, bwaaaaakkkkk

    what a date

  • Comment removed

  • They were pure and innocent and they have been massacred !

  • Huh the natives made war with each other before the white man arrived...

  • thats not really the point. they were defenseless islanders and were systematically abused and exterminated.

  • You mean ,like the Europeans?

  • yes you all rigth the spaniards(españoles)massacred thousands of native people, and now they say ancient american people (aztecas, mayas, etc)was a ugly and savage people

  • Before the Spanish arrived, the Aztecs wiped out other peoples, the Maya as well.

The Yankees, who did not mention the complete extermination of Indian civilizations (Sioux, Cheyenne ...)

So although the British and also tell the Mexicans with the oppression that I make and place in Chiapas

  • They could wage war but killing and destroying entire civilizations like Spanish? Unlickely

  • In fact the slaughtered ones were just thousands...the rest (like millions died from smallpox) which of course is even worse I guess.

  • @alechris75 No: they were ordinary humans like you and me, with the same foibles and flaws, and they were massacred, by disease and deliberate murder. Murder of anybody is wrong, regardless of their faults. It is not wrong to recognise that indigenous peoples are just as capable of viciousness and nastiness as any other group, and all you are doing is promoting a Noble Savage myth instead of recognising our commonality.

  • @blackjamm

"Conquest," is neither moral or immoral. It is natural- the natives "conquered" each other- steal their wives from each other- go to war for their food supplies- etc. Get off your fantasy trail and actually read some history...Have you ever read about the wars between the Caribbean Tainos? The Incas or the Aztecs?? Take a look at your front lawn...you will see many grass species COMPETING and CONQUERING relentlessly. It is the LAW OF NATURE.

  • @tainorebelde1 You just committed the naturalistic fallacy - not everything that is natural is good or acceptable. Murdering others simply because you want their land is unacceptable and is not what we do in the modern day. Yes, I'm absolutely aware of wars and fighting between tribes all around the world - I'm an anthropologist - but that doesn't make murder right. If you don't think that massacring people simply because they're brown and alive is okay then I wonder what you'd consider wrong

  • @blackjamm

No, I have not "committed the naturalistic fallacy." I have expressed what YOU EVOLUTIONISTS call the "survival of the fittest." You are an "anthropologist?" Good for you- I am a Theologian. The fallacy is yours since you've presumed I that the reason for "massacres" were because the people were "brown." You have also erroneously made the presumption to lump all killings as "murder" and automatically presume that the Indians were "innocent" and "moral."

  • @tainorebelde1 Ah. Here we come to the crux of the issue: your distaste at and misunderstandings of legitimate science. I'm sure you won't be convinced of anything other than religious orthodoxy. Nonetheless, unto the breach...

No, I don't presume that the Indians were innocent and moral, and it seems to me that you didn't read what I wrote. People everywhere are capable of hatred, murder, and other vicious things. But they are still people, and killing a person is wrong.

  • @blackjamm

Ah...the real "crux of the matter" is YOUR distaste of Christianity and your erroneous presumption that Christians are automatically ignorant of the manifold scientific theories- Of course...anything a Christian has to say is automatically "wrong," in spite of his degrees.

  • @tainorebelde1 No. I have no issue with Christianity taken as a whole. But you specifically said "you evolutionists", leading me to the conclusion that you are an atheist and therefore, a moron. A degree in theology is, in any case, a degree in sophistry. But go on. Explain to me how wonderfully moral it was to kill native Americans.

  • @blackjamm Haha, nice Freudian slip - I of course meant "creationist" and not "atheist".

  • @blackjamm

LOL- ok, say the last word Mrs. "Anthropologist." Obviously Im dealing with a moron here.

  • @tainorebelde1 And, no, the fallacy is not mine. You proclaim that it is the natural order for murder and conquest to take place. Maybe it is, indeed. That does not, however, make it right, and the naturalistic fallacy is the conflation of what is natural with what is good.

And you simply don't understand what "survival of the fittest" means. It doesn't mean that the strong or vicious survive in place of the kind and weak. The "fittest" means "best suited for a given situation". Clear?

  • @blackjamm

Wrong- I have never proclaimed that it is the "natural order for murder." Conquest- YES. And if you were a true "scientist," your observation would attest to the fact that all of living is about conquest or being conquered. Of course...I "don't understand" while you do! LOL

Next time you see a "tribe" of Ants in the amazon taking over the nest and food of another "less suited" tribe of Ants...lets just call it "fellowship."

  • @tainorebelde1 I'm not disputing that conquest and destruction are quite natural. I am simply saying that they are not moral, and you are committing the naturalistic fallacy by conflating the natural with the good.

Could you please read and engage with what I'm actually saying, and not what you assume I'm saying? You seem not to have read what I've actually written. It's rather annoying.

  • @blackjamm

Now you're playing games- "Im not disputing that conquest and destruction are quite natural. I am simply saying that they are NOT MORAL..."

Thank you- that was almost exactly what I said right in the beginning. I simply said that "conquest" is NEITHER MORAL OR IMMORAL. But of course, you're only interesting in "feeling" that somehow you're right......You have a psychosis. I've noticed your continual use of "conflating." Is that a new word you learned at your Community College?

  • @tainorebelde1 I wonder why you feel the need to believe that I go to a community college.

Indeed, at the beginning you said that it was neither moral nor immoral to conquer. It is, however, immoral, regardless of its being rather natural.

I see no other why to state succinctly the meaning of the word "conflate", so it is the only word to use. Why would you have a problem with this?

What, in the end, is your argument?

  • @blackjamm

    Have a nice life...

  • @tainorebelde1 You do realise that this an argument in a youtube comments section and not some vast Manichean conflict? The melodramatics really aren't necessary.

  • @blackjamm

"Murdering simply because you want their land is unacceptable and is not what we do in the modern day."

REALLY? What kind of world do you live in? So you really believe that we have invaded Afghanistan in order to protect us from "terror?" How about the Israeli occupation of Palestine.... Man, get off your dreamer horse and wake up.

  • @tainorebelde1 When I said that it is not "what we do", I meant in an idealised sense. We should not condone murder, killing, conquest; thus it is "not done"; it is not cricket. It is wrong, and stupid, and should be avoided. That is my meaning.

  • @blackjamm

"Idealized sense..." No, you said what you said- and now you are backtracking because you are not interested in truthfulness or clear thinking- you are only interested in feeding your agenda-driven ego. Now that you realize what you said made no rational sense whatsoever, you backtrack....but of course, it was due to my "creationist, ignorant, theistic default mental disorder."

  • @tainorebelde1 No, of course I am aware that invasions, conquest and murder are present in the modern age. My statement was normative. And you are projecting.

  • @tainorebelde1 Explain to me, please, O Creationist Theologian, why it was so wonderfully moral to kill native Americans.

You assume too much, in any case.

  • @blackjamm

Oh, I thought I was an atheist...now Im a Creationist Theologian? Obviously you're not out for truth- but simply operating under false presumptions.. So tell me- how was your Mary Jane this morning? Good stuff, eh?

  • @tainorebelde1 So - wait, are you a theologian or not? Did you not use "you evolutionists" as a phrase earlier? Should I not then expect that you are indeed a creationist theologian? Is there something other than what you've been writing that I should be reading?

  • @blackjamm

Are you saying that a Theologian who does not believe in the manifold, ever changing, Darwinian based theories, automatically makes a person a "Creationist?"

Wake up man...you've been bamboozled by the system.

  • @tainorebelde1 Ah, the mating call of the crazy. Yet again, I will repeat that the problem here is your lack of acceptance of science. And I will not argue about evolution; it is quite settled.

  • @alechris75

What kind of bullshit are you talking about?? These Natives were just as or even more IMMORAL than the Spanish who conquered them? what kind of history are you reading?

The scene here depicts the personal opinion of Columbus in his diary, which I have actually read.

  • @alechris75 no,they arent.

    forget Rousseau.

    read more Hans Staden,

read mora about Tamoios and Tupinambás,in Brasil, for exemple.

  • @alechris75 Do you mean that the indians were pure and innocent...Thats a lie and a very..very politically correct statement. The europeans were no angels but you can take a look at the film Apocalypto by Mel Gibson. There you can see how "pure and innocent" some indian tribes were..........and I don´t want to here anything about Mel Gibson is full of lies or anything like that because it is true....

  • @grimlund I do not know what your basis for saying this nonsense? in a hollywood movie?? jajajaajjaja, Mel Gibson is a great person, but his film Apocalypto is a real shit, is not true that Mesoamerican cultures were barbaric, heartless much less wild, in contrast, were astronomers, doctors, scientists, whichever is less wild . Do not believe in Hollywood, is like Disney, but with "action"......and please get to study even a bit of pre-Columbian cultures, before you say what is true and what not

  • @666rob666zombie666 Yeah.....Dont believe what Hollywood tell us about Stalin and Hitler either...Thats just a bunch of crap...Because we all now that these gentlemen were just a couple of nice guys...

    Wake up...

  • @grimlund Hitler and Stalin were not little angels, but these tribes had no malice or political unrest, were more than INNOCENT, and were exterminated by the European political evil that prevailed in those years.

  • @666rob666zombie666 ..Yes they did, they were human. Some tribes were gentile, and some war like,The TONKA ate their enemies. The Souix, would 'count coup' taping the enemy with a stick gentlely ,in most cases, they DID NOT want to kill each other.Measles and mumps, plagues, did most of the killing.

  • @billy1212ist Hey thank you for your coment, I see that you are not uncultivated, like those who have answered some of my comments, thank you once more.

  • @alechris75 Maybe pure as in wild but certainly not pure as in innocent. These same natives who were the most peaceful and timid nevertheless killed off the crew that was left behind after they had suffered maltreatment from them. These particular Tainos on Hispaola (there were/are Tainos on mainland south America as well) were later massacred by another more violent tribe on the island. Columbus crew was also attacked for no reason at all by another tribe in Panama on a later voyage...

  • @alechris75 Yeah, so innocent... they ate each others, they were cannibals. And they had dozens of wars between them before Spain conquered them.

  • @TheReolus The "They" that you speak of ,...WERE NOT united in one group over the Continent. Only "some" ate each other.MOST did not.The country was rich, plenty for all..You simplify 77,000 years into two sentences ? Look to where the peoples of the continent came from, before becoming tribes.

  • Whoever likes this kind of music i suggest to try listening Gnomusy (David Caballero) too...great music created by a great man !!!

Try it and you'll have a pleasant surprise !

  • Yes I agree joncosm that Vangelis rocks, but Jean-Michel Jarre rocks too and I have lots of cd's with them both :) Conquest of Paradise is etc are good songs to listen in my ears :) I like listen to New Age/Electronics music :)

  • Then try Kitaro too :)

  • i hear of kitaro...but couldn't find his music:(

  • Did you try...YouTube? :) Good Luck !

  • Moodman, I do like Jean Michel Jarre (especially Oxygene, Equinoxe, China '81 and Waiting for Cousteau...but I consider Vangelis faaaaaaar better than Jean Michel, and of course even further than Kitaro, Yanni and others...Vangelis' music hits straight to my soul!!

  • VANGELIS ROCKS !!!!

  • "he like paints with melody." he has said this many times. and I quote "what I see creates an emotion and this emotion comes out immediately"

  • That is weird, i did heard this Vangelis melody before i saw movie and i had similar visions. Its amazing how Vangelis can put images in music , he like paints with melody.
