  • This is hilarious. lol 1:15 - 1:20 , this is so funny. I honestly laughed a good long while. lol 3:49 - 3:59

  • 3:04 - 3:21

    LOL

  • So wait, he's a fourth year EngSci student has has both hair and a slim waistline?

  • I know this is a joke but this puts a damper on my aspirations...

  • @bladevampirekidway It's.. not a joke

  • NEW HO KING FOR THE WIN!!!!!

  • Anyone smart enough and plan out their future would go to UofT engi... better intern option imo (longer term and you actually do stuff that's worthwhile) and higher academics. And best part, you live in Toronto...

  • That sounds fun.

  • cool!

  • Perhaps it's a program designed to destroy nerdy asian over achievers

  • lmao the end was the best part, "how is the finance option?", "OMFG"

  • engsci is hard.

  • Certain prestigious university programs belong to a noteworthy category of designed products where the designer calls shots to the client, and product support, patching, and debugging often come little and late. Not only is the concept of a refund meaningless in this context, there seems to be no obvious legal constraint on the product's marketing practice. Even then such products are lauded and sought after, by the very same people that suffer from it the most.

    Props for an honest perspective.

  • Hey Engsci here from Singapore! Love the vid...sooo fucking true!

  • Artsci here, laughing my ass off. All my eng sci friends share the sentiments in this video, all potential applicants beware.

  • I wish I could buildz an autonomous robot in 2nd. I wanna be in Engsci for the epic university lulz. But instead im in min yeeeeaaaa

  • @strafearrow haha, loser

  • hey im planning on going to EngSci, wt college should i go to? i heard chestnut is good, but some ppl say that its very boring and far from eng faculty. any suggestion?

  • @paragonD6

I applied to U of T, and never ended up going there, and never ended up applying for res cuz i lived in Toronto, but you do know that people in engineering don't belong under colleges right?

  • @paragonD6

Also, did you not listen to anything he said in the video? LOL

  • @paragonD6 Yes chestnut is pretty far from the engineering complex buildings. The best would be new college. However, really dude ? Do u really want to go to engsci. I am engsci myself and I dont fucking understand why I am even here :(

  • @paragonD6 chestnut is far from EVERYTHING no matter what program you're in. It's 1.6 km from the engineering buildings. This is because it was not actually part of U of T before and was bought over (formerly a hotel) due to residence shortages.

Residence sucks in general, but chestnut isn't bad compared to others. You do get a bathroom in the room itself (compared to the co-ed shared ones in New), and the food is relatively good for residence food.

  • Common room is pretty sweet.

  • Rishi this video is awesome. I did not realize how much we took in year 2, although I seemed to have repressed all the horrible memories.

  • LOL EIGENVECTORS!!! I like your name hahahaha I took linear algebra last semester and now I have no clue about what it is XDXD

  • this is funny shit!!!

  • Aiming for med school by going into EngSci in UofT is like dumping your future into a shit pit

  • @thecleener Agreed. I don't know why any sane person would choose Engsci, or any engineering program in general, as a pre-med-school path. 90% of the curriculum will be completely irrelevant to med school anyways.

  • Hahahahaha

Thank gods I'm in Biology :D But ya... Eng students... I feel bad for them sometimes...

  • Uncle Cluett disliked this 4 times.

  • if this is true then why do they advertise that more than half of engineering science grads go to grad school? Are 3rd and 4rth years SIGNIFICANTLY easier?

  • @googoo120 no it gets worse

  • @googoo120 3rd and 4th year are potentially slightly easier, but that's debatable. In reality, the ones who go to grad school do research with profs at U of T, who don't care about their marks because they know EngScis who have done summer research with them and will work as hard as they want them too.

  • @googoo120

I go to Waterloo, so I'm probably going to have job offers waiting for me by the time I graduate, but I imagine people graduating out of ensci are more research oriented than practically oriented given the theory intensive nature of the program.

  • @leedoyeon

Job offers never wait for you when you go out.

Any U of T Student can get a summer job equally as valuable as any Waterloo Coop job (and i'm sorry that's the truth). But yeah, EngSci is way more research oriented, so much that a bunch of 1st year students do research over the summer.

  • I love how people attack ideas using petty insults. It really shows their insecurity and how pathetic they are on the inside. This is why parents should hug their kids when they're little.

  • new ho king ftw

  • i laughed SO FUCKING HARD at the medical school bit

  • Going into a regular Engineering stream is enough work as it is, why make it even harder on yourself?

  • vector calculus sounds like some badassmindfckshit o god

  • @Myaiga haha no way man ive done both and fluid mechanics is by far way crazier

  • LOL this shit is true... Although there are almost no black people and few white people (1 in a class of 250) pure Asians which sucks if your white or black LOL

  • @4162365222 actually whites are more than 30-40% of the engsci population

  • This is brilliant man

  • Brilliant. EngSci is for masochists.

  • hahahhaha this is why im at queens. i have a legit job after 2nd year

  • This video is awesome. I wussed out...UofT Comp Sci 0T4 so I admire you EngSci bad asses. Hilarious stuff. Forget the haters.

  • Hahaha I love New Ho King.

The guy is really bitter lol. But ya, pretty accurate. The sad thing is none engsci won't believe you

  • this is HILARIOUS :P

  • So glad I just went with Chem Eng.

  • I think they should kick out the guy who made this damn video. There must be no dissent in the ranks.

  • @tubeafrochimp lmao. are you a prof?

  • @SexyDragonProduction

Haha, no, I just know the guy who made this and I was giving him a hard time :P

  • @tubeafrochimp

I've met an engsci professor at this engineering summer camp thing at U of T before I went to Waterloo. Even he couldn't understand why people wanted to go into engsci

  • lol clearly the people who hate this can't take a joke, and clearly most people who enjoyed this video is still in engsci

  • boring shit

  • You know that this video has reached the general public when the shit-talking starts on the wall....

  • Ate what too many times?

  • @MuhammadVonRaven New Ho King.....u clearly dont pull enough allnighters! ahahahah its a chinese restaurant that delivers till 5 AM!!!! =D best thing ever

  • wow you are a bitter piece of shit!

  • LOL the transcription replaces f**k with park

  • btw anybody tried turning on the transcription

  • I was in engsci, I switched out to ECE. Now I have ALL 90+. I'm pretty happy

  • This is so funny LOL

thanks for making my day :) me and my friend had a good laugh HAHA

  • congrats on being an EngSci, you must be bald by now..

    @gabe228, you obviously can't think..

  • my brother did eng sci. he actually did lose hair and weight because he was stressed 24/7. and he graduated, and guess what? lol he works in a brewery. i know that sounds sick, but i mean, comon, the hardest course in north america and he works in a brewery?

  • @gb10100 Lol you're so full of shit. Maybe people would take you seriously if you weren't chanting about Mineral Engineering being the best program in the country a few pages ago. GTFO, MINFAG.

  • @Mr92Naeem i wasn't lying. kk cool so what i got form you is that: youre a faggot who goes through youtube comment pages to see how you'regonna make fun of people? is that right? kk cool, bro i understand you are stressed and pissed off right now cause you've been throat fucked everyday from engineering science courses, but you know man,God is always there to help you. So its okay you fucking fag. maybe engineering sci is really good, but when it produces people like you in only 2 months, well.

  • @gb10100 And what I got from you is that you're about as grammatically proficient as a brick wall. Arguing with you is like watching paint dry, literally.

  • @gb10100 By the way I love the flame war that goes on on your wall. And I'm the one who has nothing better to do than flame people? Nincompoop.

  • U of T engineering in general is stressful, lol.

2nd year ECE is really on par with first year engsci in terms of workload!

  • @reaperman1337 "U of T engineering in general is stressful, lol. 2nd year ECE is really on par with first year engsci in terms of workload!

    "

to quote the video : "Are you F**** kidding me". You obviously are not a UofT student.

  • @abdoua1 Actually, I am in U of T ECE 1T3. Spending 6, 7 hours a week on Verilog lab = stress. Also when Stickel coordinates TWO courses in your timetable, your mark is seriously jeopardized!

  • @reaperman1337 haha, I'm in 3rd year, it's soooo much easier. Stickel is pretty cool

  • @reaperman1337

THAT IS NOT TRUE. I did 1st year engsci, now I'm in ECE 2nd year. The workload is not even half of engsci first year's.

  • LOL

  • best part is when he says, are you fucking kidding me? and its all quiet for 5 secs lol

  • this should be shown to all engsci frosh.

  • @notoriousn1ck It already has been :p

  • only ppl who disliked this were the professors

  • though the microsoft voices are rather annoying

  • EPIC!!

  • I love the frankness!

  • to be honest... I kind of have to agree with this video....

especially given the fact that in the recent years... the curriculum got changed way too many times because somehow they just can't find the right combination of courses to put together...

They took out the quarter courses... but instead they shoved 2 courses into 1

Regarding most of the upper year courses, you don't even need to be Eng Sci to be able to take them... so what is the point in torturing yourself for 2 full years?

  • this is hilarious!

  • MINERAL ENGINEERING > Eng Sci

  • Has to be university of toronto

  • @TheMeja2008 actually, the two character models are the only ones available for free in the software used to create this video.

Plz to be using a legitimate argument next time.

  • @TheMeja2008 the fuck?

  • Looks like engsci is the same everywhere. I feel ya.

    ~NUS yr2 engsci

  • @gabe228 since when did "Paki-shits" live in India? Hope you're not doing Geography... or even graduated high school, because if you did, you're a disgrace to the education system.

  • @gabe228 What is an lsad? Is that like an LSAT? Are you too stupid to use a keyboard?

  • @eigenvector91

I like how his friend had to retake the LSAT.

  • @gabe228 Maybe you should come to engsci :)

  • @gabe228

Of course you would think this video is stupid. You clearly lack the mental capacity to understand the humour in this video. Btw GPAs generally range from 0 to 4. Props to your friend who had a GPA of 80.

  • @EngSciPianist eng sci is fucked

  • @gabe228 it's called satire, man. look it up. also, your friend is clearly not as smart as you make him out to be. he's friends with someone who can't spell, can't view things objectively, is lousy at geography, brags about the success of others instead of his own, and to top it all off, is racist to boot. know who i'm referring to? :)

  • @gabe228 Who is this friend of yours? Is he just an imaginary person representing what you have always wanted, but could never achieve because of your inability to think at a level past a doorknob?

If he is indeed real, then I congratulate him for being able to get into Georgetown while having you, a useless and worthless friend, weigh him down throughout his undergraduate career.

  • @gabe228 You are a joke

    - EngSci 1T0 + PEY

  • @gabe228 Wow, nothing like a poorly structured, illiterate, racist argument to make yourself sound credible.

  • @gabe228 Why would a "paki-shit" go back to India?

  • @gabe228 you mean LSAT? lol

  • @gabe228 WOAH gpa in the 70's range!!

gg i thought it goes up to 4 =/

  • @gabe228 wow....you just redefined ignorance! you DEFINITELY DO NOT GO TO U OF T! what an ass -_-

  • @gabe228 if hes "paki", why would he go "back" to India?

  • @gabe228 u got pwnd

  • @gabe228 You do realise there is a difference between India and Pakistan yea?

  • Haha I'm in first year and the "what is Praxis" "I have no Fucking Clue" is hilarious. XD I really do have no idea what in hell Praxis is.

  • Incredible video. Thanks for putting my all my rants into a single short :).

    0T3!!!

  • hAHA I loved this especially since I did BME and then went into Med school. Once you get to med school, I have to say, you guys will see those Arts and Science people again who haven't been sober for 1 week. 3:00

  • Brilliant! I wish I saw this video before enrolling in engsci

  • new ho king!

  • What about the finance option?????

  • hahaha, this video is the one and only AWESOME thing to have come out of the torture!

  • 3:07 cracks me up. It's the story of my life.

  • Nice work! keep it up buddy. Say it like it is...

  • i haven't laughed that hard in awhile.

    even better than skule nite!

I compeleted 1 semester of eng sci, then opted for mech.

    :)

  • Hilarious. Great work

  • lol microsoft speech

  • Comment removed

  • Lol@ArtSies trying to make a statement by citing their putrid class averages. That has much less to do with course difficulty than it does for general stupidity. The only thing lower than an average Arts & Science student's marks are their IQ points.

  • EngSci is the best thing ever for all the other engineering disciplines. it attracts all the big keeners with big egos - makes the other engineer programs a bit less competitive.

  • Slight inaccuracy: In first year you don't need to take 7 courses anymore.

In your time, you had to do five 0.5-credit courses and two 0.25-credit courses (MAT190 and PHY190) right? In 2009 they changed it - MAT190/PHY190 were replaced with the 0.5 credit ESC103 course.

Now it's six courses in first year instead of seven! Although credit-wise there's no difference.

  • What's the point of the program if it lowers your GPA and prevents you to go to grad school where you can show your talents? Same thing with getting a job.

You get smart people, teach them a bunch of things, and give them also something equivalent to a criminal record for the academia: a bad GPA. You think all the admissions people at MIT know about UofT's programs? Or even if they know, that they don't have to show to other schools that the avg GPA for their incoming grad class is the highest

  • gj man, I like it

  • Comment removed

  • first off, hooray Rishi, good job dude :p

secondly, to all those who are debating points stated in the video and feel personally affronted, get over it! It's satirical, it's funny, if you're still in the program, good for you. If not, good for you too! There is no need to debate the merits of EngSci whether pro or against, your measure of success is 90% based on the person itself and not the program they're in. Have a laugh :D

  • Hahahahaha - nice job Rishi :)

  • We can't call EngSci a proper meritocracy. Let's all admit, that in comparison to the other engineering programs in North America, EngSci possesses one of the hardest entrance requirements. So, we have a great bunch of kids, all academically strong and driven for positive change. They undergo the rigorous foundation program, get lower GPA's as a result, and then come out to find that they have nothing to show for that effort in the broader scale of things, and is aptly demonstrated in the video.

  • hahah awesome job dude - all too familiar

  • this is retarded.haha

  • Hey, I was in EngSci and I am white. There were other white people too, we just slept at the back of the class. Also PS to the artsie getting their back up and citing McDunnough's class as being difficulty: I took his STA347 while in engsci. It's comparable to a typical engsci class like fluid or quantum, that's it. Imagine having 6 classes like that a semester. I was engsci physics, and general relatively is harder than that class by a mile.

  • @quickNir Oh, but Nir, general relativity is another Art/Sci course! Engineering is so hard. I think I'll whine some more about it after I use my cookie cutter on my problem set.

  • if spherical coordinates don't work just apply the proper jacobian to transform the given function to a rectangular volume in a new vector space. Then it becomes trivial.

  • @Chake99 you must be taking AER210 right now

  • LOL this is so funny because it is so true

  • Finance is not worth mentioning. It's for business school wannabes who are too lazy to shower.

  • @codespyder I can honestly say that the people in finance smell fantastic

  • LOL "Hint: try spherical coordinates"

    That is so true.

  • @EngSciPianist Welcome to arts & science. The bell curves here only bring the average up to mid 60, if there even is one. Let me guess, you're talking about sta302. Surprised you didn't get a 100, seeing as how all arts & sci courses are soft according to you engineers. How is sta347 going? Hope you realize McDoungh does not bell marks either. He may bump you if you're in the high 40s but that's probably it. But you're probably getting a 100 in that too seeing as how its an art sci course :)

  • @lawlyoubad

    *McDunnough

  • @lawlyoubad

Haha I admit that STA347 is equally, if not more difficult, as some EngSci courses (and my 10% above class avg was for both 302 and 347). However, the difference is that for 302 I was able to get 10% above class avg after not going to any lectures and studying for 2 hours before the midterm. Try that for an EngSci course (or STA347 for that matter) and you'll be lucky to get within 20% of the average (from below).

  • @lawlyoubad I can't speak about STA but I'll weigh in on the only artsci course I've taken: symbolic logic. I got the impression it's basically the weeder course for philosophy majors. The average was low 60's. I didn't go to the majority of lectures. I studied for it far less than any eng sci course I've ever had, And I got my highest mark in it. And I was in significantly in front of the curve, instead of behind it.

A lot of the difficulty of eng sci is exaggerated, but it is quite a task.

  • Holy crap! Thanks for making my day with this video!! I went through mechanical engineering at U of Ottawa, and it was tough, but it sounds like child's play by your description of the EngSci programme at U of T!

  • who needs breadth and depth when you've got girth

also, way to snub the finance option

  • this video does not highlight the pros of the program .. for example eng sci students are better prepared for graduate research... they have more breadth and depth.. a lot of ppl who graduated from my class are in top schools (Harvard, oxford etc) and work for some of the top companies (McKinsey etc)... eng sci is a boot camp.. softies shouldnt enroll lol

p.s.however a lot of (not all) the statements made in the video have a lot of truth to them lol

  • @waelm83 I'm sorry, this is the comedy section. If you want an informational brochure, please drop by the EngSci office and pick one up. And by the way, guess where 99.9% of the people in every top school and company are from... not EngSci.

  • @eigenvector91 obviously its the comedy section; i crack up evrytime i watch the video. as long as eng scis watch it then thats fine... but u do run the risk of tarnishing the image of a program u r/were enrolled in when uninformed students from other universities watch it (in case the video becomes a big hit).. thats why i made a clarifying comment... if there is something that keeps eng scis proud at U of T, then it would probably be the "superior" reputation they get for being in the program

  • @waelm83 part of the reason why EngScis end up being bitter is because contrary to what we're told here there is NO reputation, nothing to compensate us for our work. Yes, I am still in EngSci (3rd year) and I have already done more with this video to raise EngSci's profile than EngSci itself has done over the last 75 years.

If EngSci is, in fact, a great program, it can handle having a little bit of fun poked at it.

  • @eigenvector91 - Are you serious? I'm a CompSci major. If I were competing for a software engineering job with an EngSci major, I'd think the EngSci major would definitely have an advantage due to the more complex programs you guys have to write.

  • @waelm83

Agree with eigenvector regarding EngSci's reputation. We're told that the program is comparable to those at MIT and Stanford, yet the layman who has heard of MIT and Stanford likely has not heard of EngSci.

  • @EngSciPianist tbh though, that's not a serious criticism. The real barometer is reputation among grad schools and in industry.

And eng sci does have a great reputation with narrow slices of both.

  • @EngSciPianist In all fairness, no one lied to you. University of Southern Oklahoma is also comparable to MIT - it sucks in comparison. You get the point ;)

  • @eigenvector91 also saying 99.9% of the ppl in top schools/companies are not from eng sci is meaningless since not every university offers the program and therefore there are a lot more non eng sci engineers out there.. so what u should look at is the percentage of the eng sci graduates that are in top schools/universities... (also show me a reference where u get this 99.9% number from loll)
