Back when the BBC were still making programmes that you knew at a glance were on the BBC. Nowadays, they try to emulate/copy Sky and ITV, 'dumbing down', so much that there's got to be something either loud, brash or, 'exciting',on the screen every 3 seconds as a way of trying to keep the viewers' attentions. Give me the more reserved, 'I can manage to spend a minute or two watching without expecting to be distracted by some gimmick/loud noise, thank you very much', style of TV, any day.
Is that when Jasper later referred to this MP as being "pissed as a fart" in the House of Commons? And went on to say "he sued me....and won! .....Bastard!"? LOL
a propos Brand/Ross, I will remain convinced forever that the *real* reason the Mail stirred it up was to get Obama off their front page, because by then it was obvious he was going to win and cause their greatest humiliation on the world stage since Suez.
As I recall, Denzil Davies had apparently been described as "unwell" during the week and Jasper merely noted that "unwell" was "a parliamentary euphemism for 'legless as a fart'." The pop was at politicians' flowery language rather than their persons, but some MPs were/are evidently too thin-skinned for office.
OMG! I used to watch this show all the time as a kid. I never realised they used Hocus Pocus by Focus as the theme tune. No wonder I loved that song the moment I heard it a few years back.
The BBC should have apologised for broadcasting anything that featured Jasper 'As Funny As A Kick In The Balls' Carrott in the first place!

It should also be mentioned that Denzil Davies was a Labour MP ...
Had it been a Tory the Mail/Sun would probably have stirred up more fuss even back then ...

I was just about to say 'who the F**k is Denzil Davies? i thought he was Del Boy's mate who drove long distsnce trucks in Only Fools and Horses.
