Genetics are very complex, so an exact answer to "how is it genetic" is currently impossible, But it is clear it is a mix of genes and hormones during development. Their is one gene, for example, that is shown when in a female to increase her fertility but when in a male makes them often gay. why not always? some men have other genes that undo the effect.
